that was a sign, please point me to acts of violence, bombings, or vandalism. (someone did break some windows)
5/4/2010 10:18:22 AM
so threats of violence don't count?what if a muslim makes those threats? is it credible then?
5/4/2010 10:19:33 AM
5/4/2010 11:05:34 AM
hey remember when that christmas shoe bomber thing happened and republicans were like "DONT MIRANDIZE HIM HE'S NOT AN AMERICAN CITIZEN"and we assumed by that statement that they meant that any american citizen deserved to have his miranda rights read to himwell call me a mother fucker:http://swampland.blogs.time.com/2010/05/04/election-year-terror-question-to-mirandize-or-not/

5/4/2010 11:21:00 AM
Muslims in the U.S. don't have anything to do with the people involved in the September 11th terror attacks.
5/4/2010 11:22:54 AM
5/4/2010 11:28:03 AM
You're a bigot.
5/4/2010 11:28:36 AM
Nice one I guess you missed all the news about him being a US citizen, going to Pakistan for 2 months to a suspected training camp, coming back and trying to bomb times square, (which AQ claimed) then was trying to get out of dodge.Nope, just defaulted to name calling. Classic
5/4/2010 11:38:17 AM
http://wcbstv.com/topstories/times.square.car.2.1673653.htmlMore than a dozen people with American citizenship or residency, like Shahzad, have been accused in the past two years of supporting or carrying out terrorism attempts on U.S. soil, cases that illustrate the threat of violent extremism from within the U.S. Among them are Army Maj. Nidal Hasan, a U.S.-born Army psychiatrist of Palestinian descent, charged with fatally shooting 13 people last year at Fort Hood, Texas; Najibullah Zazi, a Denver-area airport shuttle driver who pleaded guilty in February in a plot to bomb New York subways; and a Pennsylvania woman who authorities say became radicalized online as "Jihad Jane" and plotted to kill a Swedish artist whose work offended Muslims.
5/4/2010 12:03:20 PM
So basically the common thread I'm getting from all of this is their religion. They might come from different countries, be of different race, have different citizenship, but that one constant is islam.
5/4/2010 12:11:40 PM
is it me or is God being extremely annoying lately.
5/4/2010 12:37:58 PM
^.
5/4/2010 12:38:28 PM
^^spilling over into ST now too
5/4/2010 12:46:16 PM
He plays Farmville.MOTHER.FUCKING.FARMVILLE.]
5/4/2010 6:05:12 PM
^ Is there a connection between Farmville and terrorism? I'm just asking questions. </glennbeck>
5/4/2010 6:28:54 PM
I don't get the hubub over the miranda rights. Why does it matter if they read him those rights? Does that change the way he can be prosecuted or something? Certainly if they don't read him those rights and then question him, they run the risk of losing valuable evidence, so what is the benefit to not reading them?
5/4/2010 7:24:54 PM
Because if we treat everybody like a human, the terrorists win.
5/4/2010 7:36:33 PM
^^ i don't think there's any benefit to NOT reading them. The rights don't "activate" when they are read to him, he and anyone in police custody, automatically has those rights anyway. If he wasn't read those rights, but it could be shown he was aware he had those rights, then the prosecution would most likely be okay.
5/4/2010 7:42:16 PM
Thats kind of what I figured which is why I'm so confused as to why (aside from just being stupid fucking idiots) anyone wouldn't want this guys rights read.
5/4/2010 7:48:54 PM
I don't understand why the media is claiming that this guy had bomb-making training. he put a bunch of M-80s in a pressure cooker, stuck some propane tanks in the back of a truck along with a can of gas, put in a bag of fertilizer that didn't even contain ammonium nitrate, put a clock on top, and threw a sparkler on top. He filed the VIN number off of the door but didn't remove it from the other 12 places it's located on the vehicle. Are we really supposed to believe that terrorists are trained to build a shittier "bomb" than what 90% of American housewives who watch CSI would be capable of building?
5/4/2010 10:24:57 PM
well see there you go thinking that your next door neighbor tea partier would be stupid enough to do that but some redneck muslim from pakistan is PhD material.he's dumb shit enough to want to kill a bunch of innocent people, isn't he?[Edited on May 4, 2010 at 10:37 PM. Reason : s]

we should make an example of him.build a stockade in Times Square, strip him to his tighty whiteys, shave USA #1 in his head, and allow tourists to throw rotten fruits and vegetables at him.
5/5/2010 9:41:24 AM
5/5/2010 9:55:06 AM
The miranda thing is stupid. The only thing I can guess is that we want to get intel out of him rather than evidence, which I guess makes sense...but realistically, this guy has been around long enough to be aware of his rights and won't talk regardless of whether or not they're read to him.
5/5/2010 2:16:43 PM
5/5/2010 8:51:41 PM
wouldn't the VIN also be embedded in the car's computer?
5/5/2010 10:12:28 PM
maybe but the VIN is all over the car...the dashboard barcode is simply the most noticeable one]
5/5/2010 10:14:53 PM
What ever happened to the suicide bombers? They're just getting lazy now.
5/5/2010 10:57:31 PM
suicide bombing is the lazy way, actually
5/5/2010 11:05:22 PM
yea for serious... it takes a special kind of skill to leave your keys in the car bomb u just parked, take the subway home, ask your landlord to now let you into your apt, and get busted on the next flight outta dodge two days later
5/5/2010 11:44:31 PM
and now RFK bridge is shutdown because of an abandoned u-haul
5/5/2010 11:50:13 PM
Woodrow Wilson bridge is shut down because they want to replace a burnt out streetlight.
5/6/2010 12:21:12 AM
stop coming up to my city and hatin on it
5/6/2010 12:22:18 AM
Just got a breaking news that times square has been evacuated
5/7/2010 1:39:12 PM
^ because someone dropped a cooler on the sidewalk
5/7/2010 2:02:10 PM
Heh, the terrorist won.
5/7/2010 2:22:10 PM
5/7/2010 2:40:05 PM
5/7/2010 2:41:22 PM
i would think some bystander would have taken a peak in the cooler before flipping out... I would have.
5/7/2010 2:56:39 PM
^ yea especially since the damn thing didn't have smoke coming out of it like the other one did
5/7/2010 3:03:54 PM
and i would think whoever owns the cooler full of water would know it's their cooler... why wouldn't they say anything?
5/7/2010 3:10:43 PM
if they accidentally forgot it - they might not even be in the area when others found it.
5/7/2010 3:13:16 PM
perhaps, but when it's on international TV that your green cooler full of water has time square shut down... why not call the cops and say "hey, that's my green cooler and it's full of water"
