^^hard to read thought bubbles when you're playing a fighting game

Can't wait for this game, looks like a lot of fun.

lol @ DeadpoolAnd whoever was playing Magneto needs to learn how to play instead of just mashing DISRUPTER DISRUPTER DISRUPTER DISRUPTER over and over again.

Great video. I see that Deadpool has a healing factor-type move, but then Viewtiful Joe can also do it? Is this something which is generic to all characters now?
1/19/2011 10:05:35 AM
You must be talking about X-Factor.
1/19/2011 10:53:10 AM
Yup, that's exactly what I was wondering about. Interesting.I'm so in hopes now that Wolverine, X-23, and Deadpool all have X-Force colors.

Yeah, I saw the Wolverine one a while back. I dunno if X-23 will have the mask or not (which I never really cared for), but I would like to see Deadpool in the black and gray. You know what sucks the most about this game, though? The fact that there are NO FUCKING DECENT ARCADES IN THIS AREA. Playing it on Xbox Live just doesn't compare...

When I win the lottery the first thing I'm doing is opening an arcade with all the machines unlocked and serving beer. No kids allowed.[Edited on January 20, 2011 at 10:39 AM. Reason : .]

Y'all don't even know just how badly I miss arcades. The Starcade on Hillsborough St. used to be the pinnacle of fighting games gatherings. I even miss the arcade at Crabtree. My NeoGeo is currently in my storage unit since I don't have a place big enough to fit it into my house... I'm definitely having withdrawal.

^^ Awesome! I wonder who else we haven't seen yet?
1/26/2011 4:22:36 PM
Rumor has it that Sentinel and Hsien-Ko (from Darkstalkers) are the last ones to be revealed.
1/26/2011 5:43:20 PM
Meh. I never liked her.I went ahead and put down full reservations on this and Mortal Kombat. I'm still slightly more excited for Mortal Kombat, but I will definitely be playing the crap out of this once it comes out. Here's hoping that it takes a good long time before people start finding the truly cheesy shit (which is inevitable).
1/26/2011 6:15:53 PM
http://shoryuken.com/content/hsien-ko-pictured-sentinel-magazine-germany-3392/now Hsien-Ko is confirmed. Supposedly the roster is full now. I guess the only hope for Mega Man is as DLC

I'm more disappointed by the lack of Guile. Here's hoping that the game will be a smash and we can look forward to Super Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Turbo Hyper Fighting Extreme etc.
1/27/2011 12:18:36 PM
I never liked Megaman anyway[Edited on January 27, 2011 at 12:27 PM. Reason : lkj]
1/27/2011 12:27:44 PM
I guess it is possible that they will have more DLC characters in the future, but they will probably charge way too much for them.
1/27/2011 12:32:04 PM
The special edition pre-order bundle includes a voucher to download Jill and Shuma Gorath as well as a bunch of other stuff and it's only $10 more. So, I'd guess they'd charge $5 for two character packs with 1 Capcom fighter and 1 Marvel fighter in each. That's not bad, but if they add ten new characters after release it'd be $85 total. We are talking about a company that thinks it's reasonable to charge $4 for new costumes for fighters in Super SFIV though.

1/27/2011 2:59:31 PM
Having never played the first two, I'm confused by the videos and people's lack of character switching. Is it difficult to switch or does it leave you vulnerable? In a lot of the videos they let their characters get knocked down instead of switching.
1/28/2011 10:20:02 AM
Most videos in this thread were made by Capcom to show off the characters more than anything. Plus tagging out is risky since you're vulnerable briefly after coming in. There are other ways to get the other character on the screen safely. Like:

http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/action/marvelvscapcom3/video/6296355?tag=topslot;img;1First round of the Gamespot tournament.1. X-Force Deadpool colors! Yeah!2. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of playing keepaway. Player 1 could have won the first game if he had watched the clock a little more closely and stopped repeatedly charging straight at the other guy.3. Captain America's shield slash coming and going could be highly useful.4. Chun-Li's lightning legs have almost too much of a range...5. Yes! Iron Man can combo into the proton cannon!6. I don't understand why, when the chips get down, people aren't using the X-Factor.7. Wolverine's berserker slash from behind looks cheap as shit.
1/30/2011 1:49:59 AM
That tournament video is terrible. Those people obviously hadn't had much time to try out the game. The Viper player towards the end used a super move twice from the other side of the screen even though it's a close range move.

Two questions for the uber MvC fans:1) I only ever played MvC2 on the Dreamcast. I haven't played it on 360. I plan on getting MvC3 on the 360 but as of now only have regular Xbox 360 controllers. I've heard mixed reviews about the 360 controller for MvC2 (and I'd assume MvC3)... would those of you that play(ed) it on 360 recommend an arcade stick? Just how much better can you get at the game with a stick over controller?2) I've found this stick on Amazon:http://www.amazon.com/Xbox360-Fighting-Stick-EX-Xbox-360/dp/B000V02P6Q/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1296439720&sr=1-1Does anyone have any experience with it? It looks like the bumper buttons are on the top and not on the face so I don't know how bad that would affect gameplay. Aside from that, it looks like the only difference between it and a super expensive one is that it doesn't have a faceplate with characters all over it.
1/30/2011 9:20:51 PM
1) I bought MvC2 on the 360 (bought a MadCatz fightpad to use with it) and playing anyone else is pretty pointless as they can't consistently pull off moves. I'm surprised anyone can get by with it.2) That stick looks ok. I bought a Hori stick for the PS2, but I've always sucked with arcade sticks. People swear by those TE sticks because they use Japanese parts for the sticks and buttons. Basically, prevailing wisdom goes like this:Sticks with Japanese parts (including MadCatz TE) > Hori sticks > Mad Catz standard sticks and othersBased on this thread:http://shoryuken.com/f322/srk-newbie-saikyo-dojo-arcade-stick-faq-read-before-asking-questions-231888/I'd say get the Hori stick. The MadCatz SE is only better if you intend to get involved in the tournament scene, which I'm guessing you don't.
1/30/2011 10:32:49 PM
Madcatz SE is a piece of shit. Hori EX2 is a bigger piece of shit. The sticks and buttons in each are bad bad bad. Get either a Madcatz TE or one of the new Hori Real Arcade Pro V3s, they both use Sanwa JLF sticks and Sanwa pushbuttons. I have the old MvC TE and have replaced the stock Sanwa buttons with Sanwa RGs. It's also dual modded but I won't get into that right now.edit: lol, I just checked the prices of TEs and V3s on Amazon, they've both been down to like $99 so I would probably wait til one goes on sale again. Maybe since Galactus is on there Silver Surfer might show up? Probably unlikely but I'd love to see him and Nightcrawler in this game. Sidenote, if you go to the MvC3 website character page (http://www.marvelvscapcom3.com/us/characters) it looks like there is still one Marvel and one Capcom character to be announced.
1/31/2011 8:57:09 AM
Regarding sticks and the "tournament scene," the tournament scene is almost entirely PS3 so spending $texas on a stick for the 360 doesn't make sense.I can ask the guy that makes my sticks if he'll take orders if you're interested tho.
1/31/2011 9:14:31 AM
After my supreme disappointment with the Hori Ace Combat flight stick, I've pretty much sworn off ever buying one of their products ever again. If you really want to go all out and get a stick, I recommend one of these.http://www.xgaming.com/I've had one of these for years, and it's still just like brand new. They finally have a 360 adapter, so you can use this same stick for multiple platforms. It's not cheap, but it's worth it. I am a bona fide control(ler) freak, and I'm going to want something which is super heavy, nigh indestructible, cross-platform capable, programmable, and can be customized should I so desire. This one fits the bill almost perfectly except that it can't be programmed. (I've got another stick with another solution to that problem, though.)[Edited on January 31, 2011 at 9:54 AM. Reason : typo]
1/31/2011 9:54:19 AM
Nice, my builder has started toying with adapters for different systems, but just over 100 bucks for a stick that will work with 360 AND PS3 is pretty sweet.
1/31/2011 10:02:16 AM
I'm not looking for anything too extravagant here. I highly doubt I'll be competing in any tournaments... I just want a basic stick I can use when playing on Xbox Live. I played a little Street Fighter IV with just the regular controller and every other attempt at a hadouken resulted in Ryu just ducking and punching. That's mainly what I want to avoid here... a stick that doesn't have to be super high quality but enough that it is better than the 360 D-pad.
1/31/2011 12:46:27 PM
Get a hori DoA or SC4 stick then. Not the "Real Arcade" sticks.
1/31/2011 1:13:51 PM
Boss fight looks absolutely insane and awesome
