epic LOLs if Nebraska ends up back with Texas after trying to get away from them
6/10/2010 5:55:37 PM
Pretty simple solution here:-Nebraska goes to the Big 10 and the Big 10 gets its championship game-Colorado goes to Pac 10, along with Utah, Pac 10 gets a championship game-TCU and Houston move up into the Big XII, they form the Big XII South with the rest of the Texas schools, and the Oklahoma schools move to the Big XII NorthI don't see how that doesn't satisfy what's driving this. I think if this results in Texas teams joining the Pac 10, then these people are even dumber than I thought. Yeah, you may get Texas-USC or Oklahoma-Oregon in football, but for every game like that, there's dozens of Washington State vs. Texas Tech volleyball games schools will be wasting money on. If you want marquee matchups, just make everyone an Independent and let them play whatever big games they want. If you want nonsensical garbage that will waste money, do this.

You are thinking to small

Everyone needs to stop bringing up WVU as a possibility for the ACC. These expansions are all about adding television markets to get more money, and WVU just doesn't have the population. They also are seen as academically weak, though I don't know why that should matter. If the ACC does expand and had its pick of "available" schools (pretty much anyone not Big 10, Pac xx, SEC), the ACC would take UConn, Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse. The only way WVU happens is if someone gets taken by another conference (VT to SEC, UMd to Big 10) and we need one more to even numbers out.(^^ No one is doing this for marquee matchups. It's all being done for money. The amount of money made in a championship game is good ~$20-25 mil, but the amount gained in TV contracts is 4-5x higher than that. That's why conferences are after more than just good teams/numbers. They want markets.)[Edited on June 10, 2010 at 7:08 PM. Reason : .]

Has Maryland been invited to the Big 10 or have they accepted an invitation?
6/10/2010 7:11:48 PM
the only way the ACC and big Least can compete for TV revenues is by combining together. Just look how far down the list we both are following the CU move to PAC10:http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=5271438
6/10/2010 8:42:52 PM
I thought the plan was for the ACC and PAC-10(what ever the new name will be) would join together with a network and split the games. We get early/afternoon game slots they get late evening game slots.

The SEC should take UNC so I can stop caring about those assholes.
6/10/2010 10:23:52 PM
I'd rather the NCAA come up with some MAJOR violations against unc-ch that would vacate their last 4 NCAA mens bball championship and put their program in the shitter for 20 years.

I really hope we can get Pitt. I've heard Penn St. doesn't want Pitt in the big 10, but that might have just been hearsay.

UConn, Pitt and Cuse are all very strong additions
6/11/2010 7:53:18 AM
Well, if we want TV markets, let's try to add Northwestern and get the Chicago market. It would be about as smart as getting BC for Boston. Both teams get about as much attention in their respective cities, which is none.Man, Kansas basketball is screwed.[Edited on June 11, 2010 at 8:05 AM. Reason : .]

pac-10 adding : colorado, and (one of the following: Utah, Boise State, Hawaii, UNLV?) or another 4 more to expand to 16? big 12 adding: TCU? Utah? Boise State? New Mexico St, colorado st, airforce, UTEP, SMU? needs 2 minimum 7 max, if they want to stay togetherSEC: add nothing or add 4, Texas market would be best for them to expand market influence, so Texas, Texas Tech, etc would be the best, if the pac-10 takes a full 6 from the big 12 watch for the SEC to take several as well, perhaps all 4?Big 10: adding: Nebraska, and nothing more to stay at 12 or do they make a move to get some big east teams or big 12 north teams to finish off the big 12.ACC: add nothing or add 4 if SEC and Big 10 both make big moves to expand. ECU/syracuse?, USF/pittsburgh?, West Virginia, and Uconn all add a mix of bball and football market expansion. i could see this playing out... it's unlikely but it could happen...i don't like the idea of 16 team football conferences there would be very little inter-conference play between the 2 divisions....[Edited on June 11, 2010 at 12:05 PM. Will you people PLEASE stop it. ecu will NEVER be in the ACC.
6/11/2010 12:05:46 PM
yeah, the SEC has a strong presence in the big football ACC states so there is little motivation for them to really go after any of the Florida/Georgia/South Carolina/North Carolina/Virginia teams (i don't see them interested in UVa at all)[Edited on June 11, 2010 at 12:07 PM. 6/11/2010 12:06:54 PM
What would the ACC gain by adding ECU? That's not in play no matter what.
6/11/2010 12:11:02 PM
true.
6/11/2010 12:35:35 PM
After some more thought, I don't think that Texas would join the SEC because the SEC gives each team equal shares of revenue proceeds from media and bowls. Texas, being Texas, would want a larger share if they joined the conference. I don't think the SEC would make an exception to get Texas because Florida and Alabama, etc would go apeshit. SEC prolly won't expand at all unless the Pac 10, Big 10, and ACC all go to 16 which I don't think will happen.
6/11/2010 1:18:37 PM
Add Boise going to Mountain West Conference now: http://www.themwc.com/genrel/061110aaa.htmlI think the MWC should swipe up Kansas, K-St, ISU & Baylor. With all that IMO you're looking at a BCS eligible conference. More so than the Big Least.

Is there a possibility that the NC govt will force the NC schools to admit ECU into the ACC? kinda like the VA govt did with VA Tech when the ACC expanded.
6/11/2010 1:33:28 PM
maybe if the NC govt was still in New Berni know richmond is far from blacksburg but VT is a better school than ECU
6/11/2010 1:36:04 PM

Maybe people who lived in NYC can chime in on this, but does adding Syracuse help the ACC with the NYC TV market? I was a proponent of adding Syracuse when the ACC last expanded, but instead they added VA Tech.

I don't see why the SEC would go after any ACC schools, except maybe VT. They SEC only gains anything out of expansion if it can get into the Texas markets. If anything, I think the ACC would go after Vanderbuilt from the SEC, and perhaps USC. I'm not saying either would want to though. Vandy, USC, Syracuse, Rutgers, and perhaps Pitt & UConn are the only schools that I think would be approved to join the ACC (if they wanted to). WVU brings nothing to the ACC accademically or TV wise. I can't imagine Lousiville or Cincinnati joining either.[Edited on June 11, 2010 at 3:49 PM. Reason : ]

I wish the ACC would take Vandy. Vandy is a leech on SEC athletics. Their athletics are worthless except for Men's basketball. They are content to sit back and reap the rewards of the success of the other SEC schools. They take an equal share of the revenue generated by the media contracts and bowl appearances and just pocket it. They have shitty facilities and haven't updated them significantly in recent memory. They don't even have a dedicated athletics department. Sports are overseen by the same people that oversee intramurals.
6/11/2010 4:06:19 PM
without vandy the SECs IQ goes to room temp
