What stage trickery did they do to his beard for the pageant sketch? At first I was all thinking he shaved, but for the closing he was all normal again.HEY PAGE THREE]

3/7/2010 6:14:33 PM
haha yeah the beard at the end was fake!
3/7/2010 6:18:12 PM
I just went back and watched the end again. I can agree with that now.http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2010/03/zach-galifianakis-shaved-beard-off-during-saturday-night-live.htmllol @ Stunt Beardhttp://www.mediaite.com/tv/zach-galifianakis-shaves-his-beard-on-snl/[Edited on March 7, 2010 at 6:24 PM. did this guy really not graduate? i'm reading that he didn't, but ncsu treats him like a graduate on their site.
3/7/2010 6:33:48 PM
NCSU needs all the press they can get.
3/7/2010 6:35:55 PM
I'm pretty sure someone can be considered an alumnus without ever having graduated. Also, I'm pretty sure he was only one course away from graduating, but decided to peace out anyway.[Edited on March 7, 2010 at 6:36 PM. Reason : .]
3/7/2010 6:36:17 PM
yeah technically i'm pretty sure even i am an ncsu alumnus or whateverbut their use of ('92) implies he graduated in that year
3/7/2010 6:38:14 PM
3/7/2010 6:41:05 PM
he was one class shy of graduation, but he's still considered an alumnus
3/7/2010 7:17:04 PM
I remember at the legacy luncheon when I was a freshmen they said they consider anyone who has ever attended NCSU to be an alumnus...even if they just took one class or something like that
3/7/2010 7:23:43 PM
Maybe because that's the definition of alumnus
3/7/2010 7:29:21 PM
what's up with that is getting overplayed, same with the fogelchecks stuffi wish they'd have let him do more skits, and have better charactersimo, the best skit of the night and funniest was the pageant one
3/7/2010 7:44:17 PM
SNL dropped the ball on this one - they had a lot of potential with ZG but once again the writing sucked ass and they failed to bring the funny. Honestly the best part was his monologue, he killed that. And I swear, if I see another "What up with that" skit, I'm going to throw my TV out the window

Just watched it on Hulu. That episode was shittier than normal. The host might as well have been an athlete. They did underutilize ZG.And an alumnus is a person who has attended a particular school, college, or university.

Where does SNL farm for talent now?
3/7/2010 11:56:41 PM
I love the randomness of the things in it.
3/7/2010 11:57:25 PM
^^ the same places it always has (second city, iO, etc.) plus the internet
3/7/2010 11:58:21 PM
I'm watching this now, the opening sketch almost made me stop watching completely. SNL is like the economy, it peaks and recedes . When Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray, John Belushi, Gilda Radner, etc were on in the late 70s, it was great. The early 80s it was completely forgettable. It picked up in the late 80s. In the early 90s it was great again. Then it began to decline. It has not picked up since, and in my opinion, it's the worst it has ever been. Zach's monologue was good, but Jesus, he's been doing that "That's so Raven" joke for over 5 years now. Is that show even on the air anymore?
3/8/2010 1:47:42 AM
The late 90s were really good. Will Ferrel was as solid a cast member the show has had, and that era was probably the funniest group of women they've had. Also, I'm one of the few people who really liked Colin Quinn on Weekend Update.
3/8/2010 1:55:44 AM
i usually love what up with that, but one of the girls was putting a spike on the ewww weeE part that i didn't care for
3/8/2010 8:17:25 AM
^^ Colin Quinn is one of the worst things that has ever happened to TV, much less SNL.... I've heard other people say they liked him to, and I simply can't wrap my mind around that thought. It's incomprehensible to me how someone can think his material, but especially his delivery, was funny.
3/8/2010 9:41:21 AM
^He definitely has an awkward, unconventional delivery. And his material comes from a pretty distinct, slightly under heard point-of-view. These reasons are largely why I like him. He's an original. I think he's very sharp and his performance style is one of the more interesting of the last couple generations of comedians. For what its worth, which I don't think is very much, he's generally held in high regard by his peers within the comedy community. But yeah, there's the whole subjectivity of comedy, and basically all art, thing. My grandpa will laugh his ass off all kinds of things/performers that I can't begin to relate to. But his laughter is certainly authentic, so I'll accept on some level, maybe not one I respect, The Blue Collar Comedy Tour guys of the world are funny. ^You're one of those people who gets a hard-on for The Office(US), right - I think i've seen you jizzing all over that thread. To me, that's some of the most bland, gutless comedy I've ever seen; far more offensive than anything Colin Quinn has ever evacuated into a toilet. But as the saying goes, there's no accounting for taste.
