As far as the paleo diet is concerned, I think that it unnecessarily excludes sources of valuable nutrition. I don't think that returning to our hunter gatherer roots is going to be some sort of dietary cure all. I can understand wanting to exclude overly processed and refined foods from our diet, but I think that the exclusion of dairy, grains, legumes, etc. is pointless unless you have some sort of gastrointestinal disease. I know that some argue that eating a paleo diet can help you avoid certain health problems, but could we be putting the cart before the horse.-Ovalactic vegetarianism. . .yes, there are plenty of sources of protein. . .if you like to eat those foods. And I connect protein and iron. Perhaps, it would have been more correct for me to say iron. As a vegetarian, I had a lot of problems with anemia.

If it doesn't come from a cow, a chicken, or a turkey, it's not worth eating.

Why does anyone give a rat's ass what other people eat? Eat what you want, get as a fat or lean as you want, and leave other people alone. Anyone who cares is selling something, which should make you worry about the source immediately.

because we have so much govt intervention, letting obesity become a large scale problem affects my paycheck

^ Exactly. Why should my tax money go to support someone with a very preventable health problem?I follow a pescetarian diet that's very heavy in veggies, legumes and fish. Almost no processed foods. The only reason I don't eat most meat is because I grew up on a beef cattle farm and I'm not comfortable with the level of hormones being injected into livestock. And I eat fish bc I'm addicted to sushi. Most foods in the grocery store are terrible for you. High fructose corn syrup. Partially hydrogenated oils. Sodium nitrite. The list continues. These toxic ingredients are in almost all processed foods. I wish people would educate themselves more on food and the health risks of these ingredients. But Americans choose convenience over quality. It's a shame.

Food Inci actually don't mind the "barry bonds" chicken, it's more of a cost issue though, i could never afford to eat 4000 cals/day of a high protein organic diet, would be at least triple my food budgetoatmealfrozen veggiespeanutstons of lean meats, especially those on the clearance rack, show up at 5pm! and of course, whey

^ One of the few ways in which it pays to be a girl. It's not as expensive to eat just 1500 calories per day.

I'll enjoy my chick-fil-a and be "overweight" (according to BMI) and happy. Maybe I'll have coronary disease later on in life, maybe I won't. Maybe I'll get hit by a bus tomorrow.

As long as I'm subsidizing your health care costs by helping to pay for your fat ass knee replacements, blood pressure medication, diabetes treatment, and quadruple bypass surgery, I get the freedom to tell you that you're a fat fuck who eats too much fucking fat food and needs to get on a goddamn treadmill.Want to whine? Great. I'll drop my health insurance coverage. I don't need it. Enjoy seeing your premiums skyrocket, you fat fuck.

http://tinyurl.com/yjfacq2^^ Try this one instead.^ I've heard that if you can find higher fat canned/bagged tuna it is lower in mercury. They're supposedly younger fish than the ones that are caught in nets in deep water. And they're Omega 3's so you probably need them anyway. I haven't had any luck with in normal grocery stores though.[Edited on February 23, 2010 at 11:27 AM. Reason : s]

Is your self worth measured solely by your contribution to insurance and government plans?Even if you it is; obesity related illnesses are not the only way or most efficient way to die young. So I guess the answer is no.
