CJ LESLIE, RYAN HARROW, LORENZO BROWN... ALL FIVE STAR RECRUITS... they are coming and visiting. they haven't signed just verbally committed which means they can still back out.

Umm.......if you think people haven't tried to talk to donors, athletic dept. members, Wolfpack Club execs., etc. then you're kidding yourself. People have been trying to get this guy gone for a long time. It just seems like our BOT is fine with last place and doesn't want to try and find someone with any passion for the job. Fowler has specifically told us not to expect to compete with Duke or UNC in basketball. That's insulting. As students at games I'm not sure what else we can do other than voice our disapproval of him.ALSO RYAN HARROW AND BROWN HAVE ALREADY SIGNED. CJ LESLIE DECOMMITTED VERBALLY LONG BEFORE THIS TERRIBLE BOOING OF FOWLER. USING LUKE COTHRON WOULD'VE BEEN A BETTER EXAMPLE. I CAN TYPE IN ALL CAPS TOO!!!![Edited on February 18, 2010 at 1:14 PM. packer24, Seriously, just cut the shit. You're either 1) his daughter 2) his daughter's douche of a boyfriend that was walking around with her last night, or 3) a troll with an uncanny ability to empathize with someone who doesn't deserve empathy. And if you're going to reference recruits as part of your argument, at least get their committment status right. As people above me have already clarified, Brown and Harrow are already signed, and if Leslie comes here it'll just be because Calipari made the jump from Kentucky to the NBA earlier than expected.[Edited on February 18, 2010 at 1:20 PM. Does anyone have a comprehensive athletics record the five years preceding Fowler and since he was hired? As well as the financials? Or know where I could find one?I'm asking this seriously... I want to know what we're actually working with here. It's easy to yell "he sucks" but I'd like to see some actual numbers to know that you/everyone/myself are as justified as we think we are.[Edited on February 18, 2010 at 1:17 PM. Reason : x]

have you tried to talk to fowler? I doubt it. his office is on campus. I walk by it all the time. I'm pretty sure you can go talk to him.

I don't really think anyone is joking around about it. Of course someone getting their livelihood taken from them isn't humorous but at the same time it's a performance-based position. If enough [important] people don't feel like he is getting the job done, he will be replaced. Just like any other position out there. As I said, it isn't ALL about winning/losing games, which is what a lot of people forget. But I certainly don't think people are not justified in wanting him replaced... I just don't always agree with the tactics they take.[Edited on February 18, 2010 at 1:25 PM. its not donor money we don't have. If you were involved in school politics at all, you would know last year they tried to pass a bill to add another 1$ or so to our tuition to go to the athletics program. We voted no. We are the lowest almost in the nation with student funds going to the athletic department. carolina gets like 1000$.
2/18/2010 1:30:34 PM
lol dumbass, you can't just bust up in Jed's office and be likeYO LEMME TALK ABOUT OUR ATHLETIC ISSUES OVER LUNCH, Kgo spend Daddy's money at the mall and stop double posting.
2/18/2010 1:31:19 PM
it has nothing to do with donor money... we have the nicest facilities as someone previously pointed out due to our donors Murphy center Vaughn towers.
2/18/2010 1:31:48 PM
oh yeah and when he does get fired... who do we want hired?
2/18/2010 1:35:22 PM
yes I tried
2/18/2010 1:35:25 PM
God I am tired of hearing about Lee and his facilities. State could be playing in the Taj Mahal and it wouldn't fucking matter because people are tired of seeing let down after let down. You can argue all day that a bounce here or there makes a difference, but so does a hit free through here or there or any number of other things. The reality, as it stands right now, is that:1. Lee Fowler is ruining NC State athletics. He is incapable of managing his coaches or getting them to produce positive results. The facilities that he likes to brag about likely would have come from any competent AD.2. Sydney Lowe, a man that deserves our undying respect for his time as a player, is not a great basketball coach. (though I think he might be an awesome assistant coach). The facts are that he is statistically the worst basketball coach we have ever had by this point in his career.

This is obviously someone related to the fowler family and "her" arguments are not even on point. Nobody was saying that if a surgeon removed the wrong leg that it was funny, but what they were saying was that that particular surgeon would be sued and the patient would surely not go back to that surgeon. This is America and whether you like it or not we are a capitalistic country. If you have a job where you are making a good amount of money by anyone's account, as fowler is, and you are performing poorly, then that person is eliminated and someone else is given the job. The "Fowler" poster above is acting as if this board is taking personal shots at Lee Fowler, but nobody has said anything about his character, I personally have met him and believe him to be a great person, but he is not a good athletic director and has been given ample time to prove himself. You would not choose a surgeon or even a hair dresser because you liked them as a person or you liked their character if that doctor or hair dresser was not good at his or her job. Finally, the "Fowler" poster stated that wearing offensive t-shirts could cost students their tickets. I graduated from NCSU a few years back and am currently a Law Student. I have read the policy for student tickets and while a student can be removed for almost anything that could be deemed offensive, wearing a t-shirt with no vulgarity or personal references would not give rise to ejection and if Fowler attempted to have a student ejected for wearing a t-shirt, that student could bring action against the University.

I think the refs purposely called everything against her just to piss her off and this was like 3 years ago.If this thread wants a serious reply from me, I've repeatedly said Charlie Cobb is the easy choice for us.[Edited on February 18, 2010 at 1:39 PM. Charlie Cobb is in his third year as director of athletics at Appalachian State. He has enjoyed many successes during the first two years of his tenure, including back-to-back NCAA Division I football national championships. Additionally, Cobb initiated a $32 million athletics facilities enhancement plan.Prior to his arrival in Boone, Cobb was a member of the athletics department at North Carolina State from 1998 to 2005. Cobb served as the Wolfpack's senior associate athletics director for external operations. In that role, he oversaw NC State's marketing, ticket operations, media relations and student-athlete development operations, as well as serving on the department's compact strategic planning initiative, gender equity and facilities committees. In addition, Cobb served as NC State's administrator for baseball and women's soccer, tournament manager for the 2004 NCAA menĀ¹s basketball first and second rounds at the RBC Center and was the chair for the southeast region of the NCAA women's soccer committee.Cobb, a four-year football letterwinner, earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from NC State in 1990. A second-team all-ACC honoree at center as a senior, Cobb was an academic all-ACC selection and collected the prestigious Jim Tatum Award, presented to the ACC football senior with the highest grade point average, and the Bob Warren Memorial Award, given to the Wolfpack football player that displays the highest integrity and sportsmanship. After receiving post-graduate scholarships from both the ACC and NFL Charities, Cobb earned a master's degree in sports administration from Ohio University in 1992.Cobb is married to Lindsay Brecher, who was an all-ACC goalkeeper for NC State women's soccer from 1988 to 1990 and serves as a volunteer assistant coach for Appalachian's women's soccer program. They have an eight-year-old son, Harrison, and a five-year-old daughter, Branan.

2/18/2010 1:45:16 PM
1 year out of 10 he went to the Sweet 16. And in all honesty he was simply riding Hodge's coattails that year. Hodge carried the team to the Sweet 16. He was 2nd in the ACC one year and didn't do shit with that high finish. He ran an offense that went cold from time to time and we lost games we should've won (Wisconsin, Vanderbilt???). He showed ZERO passion or emotion on the sidelines and just acted like he didn't care about this university's tradition. He was mediocre and that is all he will ever be. We looked for a coach to take us back to where we once were and we went from guys like Barnes and Calipari to a TV analyst, to an older version of Sendek, straight to a guy who had never coached in college before. This is why people want Lee fired before we ever think of another coaching search.[Edited on February 18, 2010 at 1:48 PM. Reason : CATSUP]

yes anything deemed offensive by the university, but obviously this term is a bit broad, but normally offensive would be determined by a reasonable person standard. Obviously the term "jew" would be offensive and would not constitute "free speech" at a sporting event. Firing of Lee Fowler (your father), is not generically offensive and only bothers you because of your relationship to him or his family. You have yet to answer any of the statements made regarding his poor job as an athletic director. Instead of trying to deter the blame to Lowe, which I believe is still up in the air until next year, or making this argument personal, please actually address the issues that people are talking about in regards to his poor performance. Nobody has said anything about his character.
2/18/2010 1:47:57 PM
Your boyfriend must have the easiest job in the world. Considering you think your dad is doing a great job you must have one of the most warped senses of accomplishment ever. I guess the bf doesn't have to do all that much in the bedroom for you to sing his praises like he was zeus. That is completely uncalled for. I do know the Fowler's she was in a sorority on campus and she started a bible study for greek life. And mr. law school should know that the above statement is actually illegal. Slander is illegal. anything that suggests that someone else is sexually impure is illegal. And if the fowlers were made aware of this... they BY law can find out who you are, and press charges. You might want to "edit" that last post.
