I dont know if anyone has made it to the playoffs in the Show yet, but a lot of stadiums have their actual playoff atmospheres. The Angels have thundersticks (and they are LOUD) and a lot of other teams have those waving towels in the crowd...it REALLY adds to the atmosphere.

I've been playing on HOF difficulty. I typically play 5-6 games throughout the regular season and then jump into the playoffs if my team makes it, and play all the games.

In year one of my franchise with the Yanks, I lost to the Ranges in the ALCS in 4 games after sweeping the Twins. In year 2, I swept the Rangers in the first round, beat the Red Sox in 5, and then lost to the Dodgers in 5 in the World Series.

I also drafted a rookie with a 1st round compensation pick, and he came up down the stretch in my 2nd year and went crazy with 10 bombs in August and 5 in September. I put him on the playoff roster and I homered with him in his first at-bat...then he didn't do shit for the rest of the post season. shitty.

I just got a hit in my 57th consecutive game and broke Dimaggio's record and they didn't even announce it until after the game lol

I'm playing with Seattle and every other game I get the message that Ryan Langerhans is unhappy with his playing time and maybe I should consider getting him some more at bats. Ryan Langerhans. Oh sure, Ryan, let me bench Ichiro or Guttierez so you can start. Its really no problem. Thanks for bringing the matter to my attention, I wouldn't want any unrest in the clubhouse.

I shipped his ass to Double-A.

I cannot hit in "the Show" to save my life.
I do the Guess Pitch and Location. I guess right alot, still dont hit shit.
I click L3, and I am ALWAYS early.
Even when I am good with the timing, I will it it foul or directly to a fielder.

Even when I guess the location and pitch, do I still need to move the Left stick for Bat position?

I can't move the left stick and still hit X at the right time

I leave the left stick alone and just X when I see a strike

I try to not swing at anything unless pitches down the middle until I get 2 strikes

Spent a lot of time in batting practice...maybe give that a shot

[Edited on March 15, 2010 at 3:21 PM. Reason : still can't hit very well...team batting average is like .240 with an OPS around .700]

step 1: swing at everything and get pissed when you swing in the dirt and strike out all game
step 2: get to the point where you can semi-regularly foul off half the pitches that are pitched
step 3: get to the point where you can regularly make contact, even if you fly/ground out
step 4: once you have that timing, then work on your eye and waiting for good pitches

that should be general advice for hitting on any baseball game

I played a SICK game in the Show last night. Game 6 of the World Series, Yanks vs Cardinals, in St. Louis (St. Louis's uniforms, stadium and lighting looks ridiculous). I won 2-0 in 12 innings. I hit back-to-back homeruns with Swisher and Jeter in the top of the 12th. Marino Rivera pitched 3 scoreless innings of relief and brought home the title.

What presentation do you guy play on? I was using Real Time with Replay, but the replays happen too often, so i switched over to just real time (but now they dont talk about milestones like hit streaks, or 3,000th hits..etc).

Things I've noticed:

1. I never walk, and never have in any baseball game. If you throw a strike I'm hitting it fair most likely.
2. Catching in RttS sucks, and there needs to be a way to fast forward. My player is a 3B but the C got hurt so I'm starting at C, and I don't wanna take it away from his secondary positions because then I won't play.
3. Baserunning in RttS is stupid, why can't I press a button to run to the next base? or round bases properly.. maybe I'm doing something wrong.
4. My coach called a hit and run, I stole, got thrown out, he benched me indefinitely for trying to steal. idiot.
5. I like that I can buy my way to make myself better. Probably not a good idea for my money, but should make me pretty good pretty fast, at least til my numbers are respectable.
6. I've been traded 3 times in half a season. AA util, called up when somebody got hurt, then traded 3 times, but hey, I'm in AAA in my first season and doing pretty decent.
7. I made the futures game.. pretty cool.

Overall it's pretty awesome, maybe I should switch RttS baserunning to classic, but I don't think I liked last years either..

My 73 overall My Player threw five complete games to start his big league career.

This patch is pretty weak overall. Seems like a lot of insignificant fixes while there are some pretty big holes still in the game.

you know the secret to base stealing right? obviously get a good lead and jump, but then keep tapping the advance trigger so it says you are headed to home plate, then right before you get to the base you're stealing, mash up on the left stick for a head first slide

also John Lackey is very easy to steal off of...what a slow motion out of the stretch

haha just singled on Lackey, stole 2nd with no throw, stole 3rd standing up with a throw, and got a 4 step lead and stole home

from what i've read online, the consensus is The Show has much better graphics and cinematics, but 2K10 has better controls and gameplay

thoughts from people who have played both?

i think you transposed those but the My Player mode is probably the biggest upgrade...the 2K series never had a 'create your own player and work your way to the Majors and eventually HOF' mode before this year

I've just heard gripes about the hitting in The Show and some of the controls being kind of finicky

Yeah I did now that I look at it.

From the little bit of hitting that I've actually done, it's not too easy. But then again I've mostly been in RttS mode as a pitcher, and that's pretty good.

Yeah it was laggy...it wasn't terrible but it wasn't easy to hit...you would pretty much have to decide whether or not you wanted to swing before you even knew if the pitch was gonna be in the zone or not...luckily I had Adam Dunn swinging for power and he tossed one down the middle...fluke HR is correct

Baseball is the one sports game you need zero lag to play online

Football and basketball you can work around it, but baseball has to be precise

Just like shooters, when I'm usually busting TT's ass on COD and which I will resume doing as soon as I pick up a microphone that doesn't suck cock

just finished a helluva game in My Player mode...started off 3-3 with two singles and a double...hit a triple off the wall in my next at bat...then jacked a 3 run homer for the cycle...then i just came up again in the 8th up up 14-3 with the bases loaded and went yard

Twins 19
Mariners 3

6/6, 7 RBI, 5 R, 2 HR, 4 XBH, 2 SB...hit for the cycle with 2 swiped bags and a grand slam

Patience, my friend.

Check here, though. They'll post the name when it's finished and you can d/l in the roster vault. By far the best you'll find around, too, when completed.

anyone had success with an online league with the show?

IIRC the lag online has been pretty tough in the past esp since baseball is the one sports game you need to be lag free.

despite this, i have 9 other guys who are ready to start a league

any tips or suggestions?

So if you do the training with the "Hitting Coach" in rtts, does it actually help your clutch hitting, or does that stat only really do anything if the CPU is controlling your player?

Like, will I get better in late inning RBI chances if I improve the clutch hitting statistic, or are the contact and power training categories more of what helps a human controlled player hit?

He'll be in the next roster update

You can't be in the game if you aren't in the MLBPA

And you can't be in the MLBPA if you've never played a major league game

does anyone think that in mlb2k10, that the outfielders speed is ridiculous?? i can't put a ball in the gaps or hit one down the line that would give me extra bases. Every ball i hit down the line is cut off before it gets to the wall, holding me to a single

Its tricky...I think I've only hit one or two triples which were hard shots in the gap...plenty of doubles though

i've played about 5 games into my franchise......like 10 balls down the line that were all cut off. Only one homer.......one double, but thats because i drilled one off the wall.

The Show roster from OS is up. Version 1 has all the minor leagues completed with right names and attributes and everything. Only one mistake I found on the Mets -- Ruben Tejada was listed as 25 years old and he is 20. Pretty good lineups and everything.

With as much uncertainty as their is about many Latin players' ages, messing that up isn't a surprise. Although you would expect it to list someone as younger than they actually are, not older.

are you supposed to hit home runs everytime you make solid contact with a power swing in 2k10? i can't seem to keep my power swings in the park.....not that im complaining, but id like to see a powerful rip in the gap every now and again
