Tonight, AA 112 - 113My gf is mega excited. I could give a shit.[Edited on March 22, 2012 at 6:05 PM. Reason : I don't even listen to this cat, couldn't name 1 song]
3/22/2012 6:05:13 PM
How late is the concert going to go?
3/22/2012 7:09:23 PM
yeah if someone that went tonight can report back what time the thing ended, that'd be awesome.
3/22/2012 7:20:39 PM
Will do. And present down in freaking front
3/22/2012 7:38:43 PM
Finished ~9:50the set list as I remember it:"Zak and Sara""Ascent of Stan""Cologne""Jesusland""Landed""Effington""Smoke""Not the Same""The Lonely Douchebag" (written and orchestrated on stage)"Steven's Last Night in Town""Picture Window""One Angry Dwarf""Fred Jones""Narcolepsy""Army"and then concluded by playing every percussion instrument on the stage. awesome.I did see a set list on a soundboard that said he would encore with "The Luckiest", but that didn't happen for some reason. This was my only complaint about the show, and that's just because it was the first dance at our wedding.[Edited on March 22, 2012 at 10:28 PM. Reason : .]
3/22/2012 10:27:49 PM
good show, ended about 9:45ending was a little weak, guess he's saving stuff for tomorrow?[Edited on March 22, 2012 at 10:32 PM. Reason : picture.]
3/22/2012 10:30:19 PM
I'd say we were sitting near each other
3/22/2012 10:34:14 PM
haha that's not my head on the left is it?not that you would know.[Edited on March 22, 2012 at 10:35 PM. Reason : nm, looks like you were more center. still funny tho.]

"Lonely Douchebag" had me in tearsPretty solid show but I agree about the ending. I think there was something wrong with the piano. You couldn't hear it when the symphony was playing but when it was just Ben, it sounded off. Ben even remarked that the piano need tuning. He hit sour notes on some songs. Not sure if it was b/c of the piano or if he played the wrong note.
3/22/2012 11:07:33 PM
lonely douchebag was soooo freaking funny. good times were had at this show. Hope the friday crowd enjoys it
3/23/2012 2:15:28 AM
3/23/2012 12:13:12 PM
People were yelling for "The Luckiest" when he asked what song he should sing during the encoreI LOL'd at him saying that he wouldn't sing "Bitches Ain't Shit" b/c it would be inappropriate and then added "that song is fucked up"I noticed there were less older symphony people there last night than his previous show in 2010. I think the symphony people learned their lesson last time. I did see a few families with young children. I was wondering if Ben would watch his language. He didn't
3/23/2012 12:50:08 PM
3/23/2012 12:54:31 PM
ben watch his language? yeah right.and yea, when the house lights came on just a little i figured it was over, but it ended so suddenly. people weren't leaving because there wasn't really any sort of dismissal until the guy came out and motioned he wasn't coming back.
3/23/2012 1:05:44 PM
3/23/2012 1:38:24 PM
I'm gonna wager he does that at every show...I don't give a shit. It's fun.]
3/23/2012 1:41:21 PM
^ i agree. and yes he did it.that's where the Lonely Douchebag came from.. during the crowd singing, one guy was singing way out of key and loudly, and Ben called him out. Then composed a song on stage with the orchestra about him.
3/23/2012 1:46:53 PM
Yeah, he did do the "aaahhh AAAAAH" during "Not The Same"I looked over at my husband and he just rolled his eyesI NEED TO GO TO BEN FOLDS CONCERTS WITH BEN FOLDS FANS FROM NOW ON
3/23/2012 2:04:12 PM
I think the guy is super talented, never having listened to him before.here's what i thought of the show last night:The acoustics were pretty fucked. I couldn't discern most of the lyrics. I don't know if that's down to acoustics, or poor levels, or what. Ben's voice got lost in the music more often than not. That made it harder for me to enjoy the show and get into it. I also don't know how good I think the NC Symphony is, to be honest. After the show, my gf showed me a few other songs that he's played with other symphonic orchestras, and they were much much better. Again, I don't know if that's down to the acoustics or not. My gf also said that she felt like he was holding back, probably because he's been recording and because he's saving himself for tonight's show. But all in all I think that I've never seen a more impressive or talented musician. For him to compose a fucking song on stage with an orchestra blew me away. That level of musical talent is once-in-a-generation type stuff.[Edited on March 23, 2012 at 6:25 PM. Reason : .]

I went, had a great time. I yelled "UNC is losing!" right when they were down 1 with a minute or so to go or whatever it was. Crowd seemed to be pro NC state. Too bad it didn't hold up. Was a great concert though, Rock This Bitch was one of the better ones I've heard.
3/24/2012 1:27:49 AM
Anybody have a setlist?
3/24/2012 8:45:15 AM
so whoever wrote that preview article that said there were going to be two different sets was full of shit. _maybe_ one or two songs different, but oh well. i enjoyed it all the same.definitely didn't talk as much between songs as he did the first show, but i think that's because the orchestra is only booked for a set amount of time and he ran over the first time. which is kinda lame now that i think about it, heh.also, did he sound a little off/sick to any one else?but, even with all that, both nights were outstanding. i'm excited about the prospects of reunion touring with ben folds five copied the setlist from the first night, and edited how i remember... this isn't in order, i think that was switched up a little:"Zak and Sara""Ascent of Stan""Cologne""Jesusland""Landed""Effington""Smoke""Not the Same""The Lonely Douchebag" "Rock This Bitch" (orchestrated on stage)"Steven's Last Night in Town""Picture Window" "Gracie""One Angry Dwarf""Fred Jones""Narcolepsy""Army"[Edited on March 24, 2012 at 10:01 AM. Reason : setlist]
3/24/2012 9:58:47 AM
He played The Luckiest last night too.
3/24/2012 12:42:16 PM
This was the setlist from his show at Meymandi in 2010
3/24/2012 2:22:47 PM
3/24/2012 3:37:29 PM
I mentioned to my husband how both shows were very similar...maybe a few songs different and he said that the program that they were handing out at the show even said that there would be two different shows
3/25/2012 7:06:09 PM
^^ my bad, didn't mean to shoot the messenger. i figured it'd be mostly different sets because he definitely has the material for it (the original WASO show for instance).. it's not like the scores don't exist.hopefully it wasn't a ploy to sell more tickets. because that'd be kinda lame.and i sorta hope next time he comes around, he's back with a bass and drum.
3/26/2012 12:41:13 AM

When I told him that it was BFF this time, he just sighed.I told him that he wouldn't do the "Not The Same" audience participation this timeI think that he realizes that I'm going regardless if he wants to go or not.
7/9/2012 2:31:00 PM
Here's the thing about Ben Folds. He's an immensely talented musician who was in a great band and had enjoyable material in his early solo career. After that, though, he's coasted on his talent and his devoted fans, making records that are either too goofy or too sappy, and not particularly good.Basically, he's Paul McCartney.Robert Sledge is his Lennon, the man who could back the cheesemeister off the "Silly Love Songs" ledge and keep the quality of released material high.I still love the BFF records, and I'm glad they're playing another show, but I don't think I can truck with $50+ to see them play outdoors. If they play "Thriller," throw some up for me.SLEDGE. DICE.
7/9/2012 8:08:45 PM
I got into Ben Folds Five when I was a freshmen in high school (1997) and the guy I rode to school with would play his BFF cd every morningI always wanted to go see them play at Cat's Cradle when I was in high school but my parents were strict as hell and would never let me. Seeing the BFF reunion in 2008 was amazing and I'm so glad that they are releasing another CD/touring again. Hoping they play a lot of older stuff.I was allowed to go to a drag show at Legends at 16 but not to a concert. Parenting, it confuses me.[Edited on July 9, 2012 at 8:41 PM. Reason : f]

I'm out. Still a little sour about the lack of an actual encore last time around.
7/9/2012 9:19:59 PM

ok I bite the bullet and bought lawn seatingI've never sat in the lawn for a show before. do they allow people to bring in folding chairs?n/m answered my own question
7/11/2012 10:18:40 AM
lawn at kokabooth isn't bad at all -- you can bring chairs. glad it's on a weekend so i can get out there with plenty of time. i hate rushing over from work and getting a crappy seat on the lawn.[Edited on July 11, 2012 at 10:21 AM. Reason : there probably aren't many reserved seats, so thats why they went fast.]
7/11/2012 10:20:59 AM
yeah, I sat in the reserved section for Ben's last concert at Koko Booth (2008) and it was nice but yeah, there weren't many seatsIt also didnt help that some blogger on WRAL wrote about the concert along with the link to the presale and the presale password yesterday6pm seems kind of early for a concert
7/11/2012 10:25:12 AM
got 6 general admission. had to make 3 orders to get it to work though. it only allows a max of 4 by default, and when i was first trying to purchase it was telling me it couldn't even find 2 general admission together lol. thought i was going to have to make 6 separate orders, but after the first one it let me get 4 so then i just did one more single order.got my tix at least though. thanks again for the heads up in this thread, i wouldn't have known about it otherwise.
