I'm a firm believer that once you get inside the 10 you should only run big sets (I-formation, couple of tight ends, etc.) This does two things1. it allows you to run the ball with lots of help from blockers. Always helps when things are more crowded down near the goal line.2. Out of this you can run some play action to fullbacks, running backs, tight ends, and the one or two receivers you have in the game. I don't like having 4 and 5 wides down near the goal line b/c I think it gives the QB too much to look at and read with not much room (unless Peyton Manning is your QB). Simplify it for the QB but still make it difficult for the defense to know where the ball is.just my two cents

throw away possession. if there ever is a good time to run on 3rd, 3rd and 1 is that time.
11/19/2009 8:47:52 PM
ive yet to see any proof that the score wouldnt be 14-0 if we were running at a 70:30 rate instead of passing 60:40
11/19/2009 8:48:14 PM
Henne with another bad 3rd down thrownobody can throw the deep ball this game

the vast majority of offensive coordinators have gotten way too cute. i really think so many of them have forgotten that two three yard runs and one four yard run gets you a first downwe have two horses in williams and stewart; give them the darn ball on third and one - i don't care if the defense knows it is coming. trust them to be better than the defense (they are most of the time)
11/19/2009 8:52:38 PM
hahaha they showed a clip of smith right before the commercial of his earlier 1st down celebration...he motioned like he was taking a bunch of bites off a thanksgiving turkey leg, then he gestured like he was breaking the bone over his knee LOL
11/19/2009 8:54:52 PM
listening to these Brits talk football is pretty hilarious
11/19/2009 8:55:27 PM
in general i dont have a problem with passing. going deep on 3rd and 1 can catch a cb sleeping sometimesthe problem is that the disparity between the panthers run and pass game is only challenged by the colts (for them, their run game sucks and obv peyton is beast), so we really shouldnt be passing any more than to keep defenses honest and stop steve smith from flipping out
11/19/2009 8:56:02 PM
MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE with the 15 yard gain]
11/19/2009 8:56:20 PM

"Great job by Bernardo"I realize he doesn't play much, but you'd think with Gross being out, people would know their backup after it being said all week on ESPN. Especially if your job is a commentator.
11/19/2009 9:13:19 PM
'Nard dog has looking pretty good so farHe just made a real good block for D-lo on that run

3.667 yards per pass play5.28 yards per carrythats so backwards, but it's expected out of the 09 panthers [Edited on November 19, 2009 at 9:16 PM. Reason : actually the pass yards are probably closer to 2 since i counted the sacks as 0]

boooooooooooooooooooooooo
11/19/2009 9:45:34 PM
Jake cannot handle pressure at all.Even if he gets away from the sack, he's so flustered by being pressured he can't recover and complete a pass.
11/19/2009 9:45:49 PM
So I see now why Bob Papa is stuck on the NFL Network and not on one of the broadcast networks he is god awful.
