11/4/2009 11:54:25 PM
Whew...man, this feels good. After 2001, 2004 and missing the playoffs completely last year. This one feels good. Go Yanks.
11/5/2009 12:19:24 AM
HELL YEAH, WORLD CHAMPIONS BABY!!!!!!!DAMN IT FEELS GOOD.27!!!!GO YANKEES!!!!!!!!!!!
11/5/2009 12:31:12 AM
Even though I don't like the Yankees, I never get tired of seeing the players looking like little kids when they celebrate a World Series.
11/5/2009 12:35:26 AM
Where is Mr. Scrumples? He's about as quiet as Jimmy Rollins right about now.
11/5/2009 8:45:16 AM
Congrats. One of these decades I'll see the Mets win one, maybe... and when that day comes, I'll be in New York City for it.
11/5/2009 9:00:04 AM
Unfortunately the Yanks didn't win a WS while I lived in NYC, bad timing But I had a friend up there buy a copy of the Post for me
11/5/2009 10:58:07 AM
^can i get a copy too? will ya mail it to detroit, i will paypal you monies[Edited on November 5, 2009 at 11:02 AM. Reason : Yankees]
11/5/2009 11:02:07 AM
eh, my buddy up there already went by the newstand and I already told him I only need one
11/5/2009 11:03:26 AM
awesome game! the city was rockin' last night. feels good to be wearing a WS championship t-shirt in the office today!
11/5/2009 11:04:33 AM
all this title represents is more evidence in favor of implementing a salary cap.there should be an asterisk beside every championship won by a team that has disproportionately outspent all other teams.
11/5/2009 11:30:15 AM
Mr E Nigma, I'm right here you creepy, creepy little man. I was wrong. It sucks that the rest of the nation has to deal with you front-running douchebags. I'm really so sorry on being wrong in thinking the Phillies could get the job done. There truly is something unsettling about outright payment for championships. And^what he said.
11/5/2009 11:51:45 AM
awe boohoo. sorry, but $ doesn't buy championships. just look at the past nine years. take it up with the MLB if you have a problem with it. yankees didn't write the rule book.
11/5/2009 12:59:27 PM
^what phried said. And is it any surprise those are the biggest baseball markets in the nation??? It's not their fault they have huge followings that help bring in money.Besides, if you factor in cost of living adjustments their salaries aren't quite as bad Interestingly...
11/5/2009 1:15:28 PM
Even though the yankees payroll is significantly higher than the other teams now, that margin has only been great since the late nineties, i think. I'd have to look into that to be certain. The majority, meaning almost all of there world series championships have been won with very comparable salaries compared to other teams at those times.Joe Girardi just seems like a cool guy^...I like him as a baseball coach[Edited on November 5, 2009 at 1:23 PM. Reason : d]
11/5/2009 1:22:34 PM
The Yankees have a business model that works. They are playing by the rules. Don't be a hater.
11/5/2009 1:45:14 PM
So be a front-runner instead?
11/5/2009 1:48:07 PM
I was brought home from the hospital in a yankees outfit when I was 2 days old. I grew up in New York city and have seen almost every game since I was 7 years old. I wouldn't say I'm a front runner. I used to watch every game back in 1990 when they had guys like Mel Hall, Spike Owen, Matt Nokes, etc.
11/5/2009 1:51:13 PM
well, season's over now, better dust off your lakers jersey
11/5/2009 1:53:04 PM
^ or Steelers jersey. [Edited on November 5, 2009 at 1:59 PM. Reason : k]
11/5/2009 1:57:59 PM
LOL....harsh!I like the yankees....but i also like just about every MLB team...just like baseball in general
11/5/2009 1:59:06 PM
Scrumples, you quoted the payrolls:"Yankees $201,449,189Mets $149,373,987Cubs $134,809,000Red Sox $121,745,999 The mets finished 70-92 and missed the playoffs. The cups finished 83-78 and missed the playoffs. The Red Sox got knocked out in the first round of the playoffs.Last year the Yankees payroll was 206 million, and they actually finished with a worse record (89-73) and missed the playoffs. The Yankees have had the highest payroll in every year since 2001. This year was the first time in that stretch that they won the world series.

with the way they do revenue sharing nowadays, whats good for the yankees is good for the rest of baseballlike it was said before, they didnt write the rules, they just follow themp.s. I hate the "yankees"[Edited on November 5, 2009 at 2:22 PM. Reason : ad]

although i enjoyed watching the playoffs, i think i speak for a lot of people when i say thank fucking god there will be no more baseball games on tv for the next 6 months
11/5/2009 5:18:08 PM
i just enjoy reading the posts saying my yankees won from people who's hometown's are very far from New York....
11/5/2009 5:45:24 PM
that and the fact that some of these players are being hailed as heroes yet some of them spent a good portion of their careers cheatingA-ROiD *cough cough*
