I'm proud to admit that I jumped when the shapeshifter grabbed Walter's hand in the lab.

Yah, I am not looking forward to this weeks noir episode either, but I am willing to give it a chance. But if you think about it this move makes total broadcasting sense. I would say that at least 8/10 sci-fi fans are also attracted to some other form of genre fiction (be it detective stories, westerns, fantasy novels, what have you). The rise of steam-punk is probably a good illustration of the overlapping interests. Fringe, X-Files, Star Trek, etc all made these type of episodes because they are trying to hit the center of that Venn diagram. Sometimes it works...sometimes it doesn't.
4/26/2010 12:36:58 PM
it never works
4/26/2010 3:09:02 PM
^^ When did it work exactly?

Just because Patrick Stewart is always awesome, doesn't make those TNG episodes good... I always groan when I see those on my dvr
4/27/2010 2:36:36 PM
This episode is sooo disappointing. I'm legit falling asleep.
4/29/2010 9:32:43 PM
holy bejeesbus this episode is HORRIBLE
4/29/2010 11:21:31 PM
Filler episode...but I guess its kinda obligatory....I did laugh every time someone busted into song 'cause all I could see was walter prancing around stoned out of his mind singing to Ella
4/30/2010 8:26:48 AM
I had read some article about this a while ago. Apparently all the major shows were doing a singing episode. Something to do with Glee.
4/30/2010 8:42:53 AM
I turned the episode on (against my better judgement) last night. After about two minutes, I saw Walter talking about inventing hugs and singing corpes. That's all I needed to see. Back to Office/30 Rock. I hope this type of episode never makes an appearance again.
4/30/2010 10:06:26 AM
i think im just going to delete this from the DVR without even starting it and pretend it never happened
4/30/2010 10:33:03 AM
Yah, it was a disappointment all around. The whole episode was just unnecc. Did it tell us anything about any of the characters we didn't already know or advance the seasonal arch in anyway? No. Not saying every episode has to do either of these things, but come on. They could have at least made it interesting or new in some way. Basically, they just re-told the story of Fringe (from Walters point of view) up to this point. Nothing new to see. Move along to the next episode. BTW. Did anyone else think of this issue of X-Men during the episode:[Edited on April 30, 2010 at 11:44 AM. Reason : It's Kitty's Fairy Tale]

The only real entertainment with that last episode was the last 15-20 seconds where you see an Observer across the street stating something to the effect that "the boy has not yet returned, I'm afraid Walter does not remember our warning".Whatever that means.
5/1/2010 12:25:31 AM
next week's looks like it'll be crazy, lot of alternate selves in the preview
5/6/2010 11:48:19 PM
Yeaa I always thought the other Walter was behind some of the ppl coming over. Still hasn't explained how original Walter and Peter could cross over like it was nothing but the other side has to send machines over for the most part or be all messed up when they get to the opposite side like Walternate was
5/7/2010 6:46:10 AM
Which Walter do ya'll think Peter will choose?
5/8/2010 10:26:52 PM
Man, I have no idea whether to trust William Bell or not.
5/13/2010 9:52:10 PM
that episode was kinda all over the place. I hope part 2 clears things up a bit.
5/14/2010 12:21:04 PM
The way they have Walternate acting really makes you notice how fucked up Walter become after going nuts.So one thing I am still not 100% sure about. Did Walter go insane before or after they cut out part of his brain?
5/14/2010 1:08:31 PM
I thought they alluded to that being the case in the episode where they discovered part of his brain had been removed.
5/14/2010 1:21:35 PM
Olivia as a redhead = yummy.
5/14/2010 1:28:43 PM
Epic cliffhanger. That was completely unnecessary.
5/14/2010 9:10:55 PM
unnecessary...yet oh so good!
5/20/2010 12:30:53 PM
I hope they encounter an alternate William Bell with a beard.

I HOPE NOT. I don't think so, I mean...

I'm distraught.
5/20/2010 10:00:41 PM
AWWWW SNAP. Good stuff for next season.
5/20/2010 10:12:49 PM
i dont know how much better they could have tried to hide it, but as soon as Alterlivia woke up Spock after the grenade blast i was skeptical that it was her since we saw both right before itthen she didnt really say anything when they were about to cross back over and she was lookin sketchy around the apartment so you knew
5/20/2010 11:41:36 PM
well, i think that's kind of the intention. You want to subtly prepare the audience without fully giving it away (making you skeptical but not sure). And prepping your audience is important. If the last shot we saw was Olivia ripping her face off to reveal a lizard underneath (ala original V series), the audience we be surprised sure but also angry and confused because they wouldn't know what the fuck was going on.[Edited on May 21, 2010 at 12:23 AM. I had a suspicion after the bomb blast and the orders from the senator trying to get Olivia #2 closer to the action. It was confirmed when she asked for the typewriter.
5/21/2010 10:54:07 AM
Pretty good season ending episode. Looking forward to next season.
5/21/2010 11:01:17 AM
For the most part I loved the finale...though I saw the ovlialternate thing coming as soon as spock came to with her bending over him. The actress does a REALLY good job of throwing her voice just a bit between both those olivias...Anyway I just have one question. If they needed olivia to "open the cracK" as they said (I thought the maching was supposed to be like a power source and a "doorstop") how did they manage to get back through to the other side? I'm assuming that since there was no William Bell/Walter team up in biazzro-world that there were never any cortexifan trials and olivalternate shouldn't have those abilities....right?
5/25/2010 8:18:58 AM
They didn't use olivia, bell used his own...lifeforce or whatever to power the accelerator instead of harnessing olivia's power, which is why it didn't matter which one was standing there. That's why they barely even looked at her during the transport. For as many plot lines that they cleared up, I'm surprised the series didn't end right there. The only thing now is saving olivia, which should seem about impossible since the only way to go over was to use the children from the trials. I don't really know where they are going with this, but it's awesome.and yes, redhead olivia >>>>>>>>>>> blond olivia
5/25/2010 8:25:24 AM
I thought Bell had to use his lifeforce in order to give extra power to the machine so it could act as an augmentation to olivia's ability AND as a doorstop to give them time to pass through.I mean...bizzaro world has had that particle accelarator machine for years now and Walternate never thought to use it to cross over...Maybe I missed something...
5/25/2010 8:52:16 AM
Originally they said the accelerator would harness her ability and there was no mention of anyone having to die. Somehow him sacrificing himself kept that from happening. I'm not sure.
5/25/2010 8:53:53 AM
the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one.
5/25/2010 10:03:33 AM
pretty sure after walter said she wasn't strong enough about 100 times they decided that having her try was pretty much pointless so they didnt even bother..and given the time crunch they didnt exactly have time to make a few tries
5/25/2010 1:04:09 PM
ok so i guess it was an ok ending to the season, but i def had some problems...1)the second olivia dyes her hair it becomes apparent that they will likely end up trading places later (ok not a technical problem, but i like surprises! and that took the surprise away a little)2)when they all meet back up at the theater Walter looks shocked...but the look is directed (and he speaks to) at Peter. since he thinks peter is not on his side exactly and he walks up with Alterlivia (cause they have no cell phones so Walter can't know she had dyed and cut her hair). yeah, no need to worry about the woman who has been chasing you and tried to shoot you in the park.3)having alterlivia wear real olivia's clothes after the bomb goes off did throw me off at the time. however later(when i found out it was alterlivia) i started thinking...so, Olivia throws this huge bomb that kills or severly hinders EVERYONE else...alterlivia is somehow completely unharmed despite not knowing to take cover. she then somehow has time to strip real Olivia (who would have theoretically been the only one other than Bell to take cover since she was the one throwing the bomb) and get redressed in her clothes before waking Bell? that's just a little too much for me.[Edited on May 26, 2010 at 9:56 PM. Reason : sorry, rant.]
