7/31/2009 2:18:19 PM

7/31/2009 2:21:11 PM
Are you a doctor? Or at least, can you pretend to be one?
7/31/2009 2:27:47 PM
7/31/2009 2:28:17 PM
I will wear a stethoscope and nothing else.On a side note, my sister said she would be a surrogate for me and my GF if we wanted. That kind of creeped me out.
7/31/2009 2:37:15 PM

7/31/2009 2:38:51 PM

7/31/2009 2:39:40 PM
well you see, they would take my sperm and fertilize one of my GF's eggs with it, then deposit it into my sister to carry it to termpretty creepy huh?
7/31/2009 2:40:28 PM

7/31/2009 2:41:26 PM

7/31/2009 3:01:17 PM
Surrogate parenting is not to be confused with prostitution
7/31/2009 3:36:14 PM
haha. after dj your fair market value may be a lot lower
7/31/2009 3:36:52 PM
Fair market value? Fyi, I'm not livestock. And just received a counteroffer of $5k. Sorry dj.

Sick Burn.
8/1/2009 9:02:13 AM
well it would be different if someone like H8R or WillemJoel made that comment, but not this loser
8/1/2009 9:06:06 AM
DJ why is it she had her tubes tied in the first place? And why is it creepy your sister offered to carry for you?I don't see it as being that odd. Recently a friend went through a horrible ordeal in which she not only lost her fetus at 5.5 months but is also no longer able to have children. Should her and her husband decide they want another child I offered to be their surrogate.
8/1/2009 9:08:55 AM
Dj's spermHis sis' eggBAD idea
8/1/2009 9:11:53 AM
She got married really young and her ex husband was a real controlling douche. He made it clear that he didn't want kids and that she shouldn't either, so he pretty much coerced her to have it done. Why didn't he just get a vasectomy? like i said, he's a doucheAnd it's not really all that creepy about my sister. I just think it would be interesting.^ it wouldn't be my sister's egg, it would be my gf's. it would just be implanted in my sister after fertilized with my sperm[Edited on August 1, 2009 at 9:13 AM. 8/1/2009 9:12:12 AM
That's what I thought, then I misread a comment higher on the page. How difficult is tubal ligation reversal?
8/1/2009 9:19:27 AM
oh no, i would also be carrying her egg and his sperm. There were able to save some of her eggs when they had to do the hysterectomy so they would just defrost those suckers
8/1/2009 9:56:20 AM
Ahh, now I get it son. I was confused for a while there, but it has become clear now my son. ]
8/1/2009 10:26:16 AM
I don't think it is all that difficult to reverse it, but it's expensive.from my research, it's an outpatient procedure that takes less than an hour[Edited on August 1, 2009 at 10:34 AM. Reason : a]

I find it hard to believe that it is cheaper and easier to adopt a child than to have an outpatient surgery that takes less than an hour.
8/1/2009 12:09:33 PM
8/1/2009 12:09:42 PM
A friend of mine who is 22 once dated a lady that is about 43.
8/1/2009 12:11:42 PM
so wait, it's stupid to want to continue on my family bloodline? i didn't say that is the ONLY reason I want kids, but it is important to meand this is a stupid reason to adopt:
8/1/2009 12:12:52 PM
outpatient surgery with a 60% success rate.Considering that she's obviously getting older, the chances of it happening without additional $$$ are lower. So the surgery will be over $10k, then you have to plan on some fertility meds and it might not even work. You can get a perfectly healthy white infant from Russia for about $20k, and that'll have a 100% success rate. You'll pay a ton less if you don't want a white kid. One of my cousins got a Honduran infant for free (or whatever minimal fees the gov. charges) from the local social services or whatever agency handles adoptions. It was funny, the mom didn't understand that to have a free ticket to stay in the US you have to keep the kid and not just pop one out here. Gave the kid up then got deported, so my cousin doesn't have to deal with any crazy baby momma trying to take the kid back.
8/1/2009 12:17:44 PM
I have a friend that adopted 2 kids from Russia. They cost him $60k each, factoring in the fact that he and his wife had to travel back and forth to Russia several times per child. And The Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center runs $5400-$5900 for the procedure, so I'm not sure where you are getting your figures from. But they are wrong.http://www.tubal-reversal.net/tubal_reversal_surgery_costs.htm[Edited on August 1, 2009 at 12:25 PM. Reason : a]

So adopt a kid of a different race locally. You can get them damn near free.
8/1/2009 12:24:00 PM
^^and some insurance companies cover a majority of the cost
8/1/2009 12:25:50 PM
Or you can just write me a contract and give me some $$$
8/1/2009 12:28:41 PM
Most insurance does not cover tubal ligation reversal. I've never seen a policy that does cover it.If you want to go to a place that advertises "affordable tubal ligation reversal" that's your choice, but I'd go to the best. You really don't want to know all the problems that can happen if they half ass a reversal. The expenses related to the half assed reversal will not be covered by insurance either. And depending on how the tubes were tied the success rate could be much lower. Depends on how much of the tube was cauterized. Might not be enough left to connect. And with the low success rate and her being older, it's very possible you're just flushing $6k down the drain.
8/1/2009 12:41:11 PM
according to their website, they have a 67% success rate for women in the age range of my gf. By that I mean that 67% of the women in my gf's age range that got reversals there became pregnant.[Edited on August 1, 2009 at 12:44 PM. Reason : a]
8/1/2009 12:43:02 PM
But the success rate varies for individuals depending on how the original surgery was done. Could be they have a high success rate because they refuse to work on women that had their first surgery done poorly. Who knows. All I'm saying is that it's not as simple and you make it out to be. To keep a 67% success rate they are definitely turning away poor candidates. No way to tell if your gf is one.

I am just making the distinction that this isn't just some clinic in a basement somewhere. Just because it is affordable, doesn't mean they aren't reputable doctors. Could you please post a link to where you got your $10k+ quote from so I can compare?
8/1/2009 12:53:01 PM
That's about what they billed my insurance for my tubal ligation and checking for endometriosis. ~30 mins under so a reversal would be more I went to several doctors before I found one that I was 100% confident in, but it was worth it and I ended up getting 2 docs for the price of one during my surgery since one had more experience with endo (which I didn't have) and the other had more with the filshe clips they used on my tubes. I've been to a enough doctors to know that I only want the best, especially when it comes to surgery.
