This quote on the IC board made me laugh. This is regarding Lo Brown not qualifying.

http://northcarolina.scout.com/2/880275.htmlDixon Figuring Out New Path Premium StoryNorth Carolina signee Justin Dixon was informed this week that he will not be able to attend Chatham (Va.) Hargrave Military Academy. Now, he is looking into other options.“Obviously, it’s not what I wanted, but I’m waking up every morning,” Dixon said. “Everything is still great.“Wherever I go, I’m going to ball. I love competition – I love to compete.”Dixon, a 6-foot-1, 230-pound linebacker from Smithfield (N.C.) Smithfield-Selma, signed with UNC in February. After failing to qualify, he looked to prep at Hargrave. That, however, is no longer an option.Anthony Barbour, Dixon’s high school coach, is leading the search for alternate destinations, including junior colleges and enrolling in a Division I college as a partial qualifier.“To be honestly with you, I don’t really know right now,” Dixon said of where he’ll end up. “I have no idea. My coach is looking into some schools – we have some schools in mind right now that I might head out to. I have a few schools I’m looking at right now, but I’m going to let my coach handle everything.”The only school Dixon has personally spoken to is East Carolina, which has offered Dixon the opportunity to enroll as a partial qualifier. If faced with the choice between the JuCo route and enrolling at East Carolina as a partial qualifier, Dixon says he’d definitely head to ECU.“First of all, I could start my college career – I’d just have to sit out a year,” Dixon said. “I would go ahead and be on campus [and] get my credits in. I’d come out my sophomore year (freshman on the field, but sophomore in the classroom). And I’d still have four years to play ball.”Additionally, Dixon is turned off by the proximity of most junior colleges to his home.“If you really ask me, [most junior colleges] are too far for me,” Dixon said. “But I’m going to let my coach handle that situation – whatever he thinks is best for me, that’s what we’re going to jump up on.”If Dixon takes the JuCo route, he’ll be able to enroll at a Division I college after graduating with an associate’s degree.Dixon said he hopes to have a better idea of his fall destination by the end of next week. ______________________________________________________________________________________lol1 - 3* S Angelo Hadley - released from LOI after getting arrested a few too many times2 - 3* WR Vincent Davis - going to JuCo3 - 4* OL Johnnie Farms - going to Hargrave4 - 4* LB Justin Dixon - going to JuCo/ECU5 - 3* RB Jerrell Rhodes - qualified but going to Hargrave anyway (wtf?)6 - 2* JC TE Prizell Brown - did not qualify7 - 2* CB DJ Bunn - going to Hargrave8? - 4* ATH Donovan Tate - probably going to MLB but not official yet5 did not qualify1 got booted 1 qualified and isn't enrolling 1 is going to the MLBLB Hawatha Bell has yet to enroll yet they say he'll be there in the fall

His coach, Anthony Barbour, was a pretty good player at State back in the day. As well as my best friend's cousin. Should have pushed him to State (and then to qualify of course)....
7/21/2009 8:38:15 AM
^^^I think it's just worded badly. I think Dixon's GPA/SAT ended up bad enough that he could not reasonably expect to pull them up by going to a prep school. Not that he tried to go to Hargrave and they said no.
7/21/2009 10:44:05 AM
^^ there were two really good players on that team (Smithfield Selma), Dixon and DJ Bunn, who both ended up going to the Holes. And then i see Anthony Barbour was the coach and i'm like...what gives? Those kids must have been misled as youngsters[Edited on July 21, 2009 at 12:15 PM. Reason : a]

This whole sequence sums up the fail that will occur for them this year (or at least come Nov. 28th)[Edited on July 23, 2009 at 10:18 PM. Reason : ]
7/23/2009 10:18:07 PM
Obviously they will be more experienced on defense, but I just don't see how everyone assumes they will "build on last year" after losing their most effective QB (it was not Yates) and top 3 and NFL-bound Wide Receivers.
7/24/2009 5:17:20 AM
I remember a thread on IC after this game stating stripping the football instead of straight tackling shouldn't be allowed.A lot of lulz in that one.
7/24/2009 5:34:14 AM
^hahahai remember that. "anyone can strip a ball! straight tackling takes real talent!"
7/24/2009 8:39:05 AM
That thread did bring the funny. Some of them were saying that it was against spirit of the game and cheapened it. To be fair though, I'm pretty sure there were multiple people saying the people against stripping the ball were being retarded sore losers.

^ 10 Total including 3 true freshmen.I don't even think Chuck was that bad about not replenishing his offensive line, and we saw the results his shoddy patchwork of a line got us. No wonder BD and Blake recruit so many D-linemen. They're going to need 'em all considering they'll be on the field the whole game.Wonder if BD will take a page out of O'Brien's book and move some of the slower defensive tackles, and maybe even some of the bigger, slower d' ends, over to the O-Line. I can't see him having much of a choice at this point. Otherwise they'll have to have open tryouts and invite the fattest frat boys around.
8/13/2009 12:59:13 PM
3 true freshman on unc's oline makes me cautiously optimistic
8/13/2009 1:06:48 PM
Their starters are 3 4th year guys, and 2 5th year guys. They are very, very thin, but their starting 5 will be solid

Here's hoping Butchy boy doesn't have TOB's eye for hidden OL talent or rather the ability to make due with what you've got. I'd love absolutely nothing more than to go up by a nice margin against the holes and have Willie Young and Co. tee off on the QB all day.
8/13/2009 3:13:44 PM
We play them the last game of the season, correct? Their O-Line might even be more depleted by then...lets hope we're not

There's a great chance he'll be using his regular redshift since he hasn't used it yet, which means he'll have two years left starting in 2010. Great, as in 100%.
8/19/2009 4:12:06 PM
indeed. that was a stupid sentence.[quote]There's a good chance Merletti will be receiving a medical regular redshirt since he didn't use a redshirt as a true freshman, which means he'll still have two years of eligibility remaining starting with the 2010 season.[quote]He'll be a RS-JR next year. This year they're a little thin at Safety.SR Melvin WilliamsJR SearcyJR SmithRS-JR Deunta WilliamsFR CampbellThey better hope that lineup stays healthy the rest of the year. (Although it seems that the starters at safety typically play about 90% of the snaps. Not too much need for excessive depth at that position.)
8/19/2009 4:41:20 PM
^^I hate it for the kid, I don't want to see anyone hurt. Here's hoping he makes a full recovery but that we (and other teams) can take advantage of his absence this year.
8/19/2009 4:42:41 PM
Yeah, I never like to see anybody get hurt. Now, I wouldn't care if the entire UNC team decided to leave the program, but I hate people getting hurt. Oh well ... he'll be back it seems.
8/19/2009 5:06:32 PM
i'll take this moment and clarify. I am not happy the kid is hurt. I'd rather Toney Baker run over him on the way to the endzone and the worst that happened to him is a bruised ass ego. However, anyone who gets hurt who could potentially be on the 2-deep is something that must go published (not celebrated).
