i think they should implement barrel monsters as a normal warning mechanism before entering a work zone. i mean, i'd slow down if i saw one.

i'd personally chip in to pay for damages if this guy didn't get in trouble.
6/12/2009 9:01:23 AM
I honestly think they should hire him... if there was a different barrel monster at every construction site... I'd probably slow down more.
6/12/2009 9:04:21 AM
you see, this guy should get in trouble....not for stealing the contractor's property, but for running his mouth about doing it. this is one of those things that you take a picture of (for proof) and keep your mouth shut for years. maybe keep it as an inside joke between friends or something.

6/12/2009 9:12:36 AM
well he already blogged about how he went out in the middle of the night and put all the barrells in his trunk and took them home. and i'm sure the prosecution will have their hands on that in no time.
6/12/2009 9:50:03 AM
and he pretty much described it in detail to Technician
6/12/2009 9:54:29 AM
I think it's great!!! Something more to look at than those silly orange barrels!!

Either the Technician turned his name over to the cops, or they got it from his domain registrar. Either way, he's on their radar now, and the cops will be on him for the rest of his life. The government doesn't like being made a fool of. I bet they got the value of the barrels to add up to a felony too.If he's counting on a massive waves of populace support from students too lazy to walk across campus, I think he'll be disappointed.Lesson to anyone else doing this type of thing: SUBMIT PHOTOS ANONYMOUSLY, KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT.

When I first saw the first image in the OP I thought...wow this is an awesome way for the contractors to make drivers more alert that they're in a fuckin work zone and to slow the fuck down. So if you ask me I think he's boosting safety for workers. Let em work Let em live (even though they do a shitty ass job)

I'm glad our police departments are using their time and resources wisely. I mean damn, they could have been stopping a real crime such as a college party involving alcohol.

Here's the latest. The company that owns the barrels doesn't want to press charges. They think the monster was more effective at diverting traffic than the cones. In fact, they want the artist to contact them if he needs more barrels. This will go nowhere, except, it will be good publicity for the guy.http://www.newsobserver.com/news/story/1567423.html

From that article, it sounds like the RPD committed larceny by stealing the barrel monster when there hadn't even been a complaint filed.Sounds like some real Barney Fife shit.[Edited on June 13, 2009 at 12:14 PM. Reason : ?]

he's a graffiti artist, of course he's going to continue to spray paint/use shit that isn't his
6/13/2009 12:14:42 PM
Now that the company isn't pressing charges, when will the cops return their property (the monster) to them?

just heard on monkeytime that the company that makes the barrels loves it and have commissioned him to make one for their home officeso why is this guy getting prosecuted?
6/17/2009 8:09:20 PM
im not taking any sides here, but as i made this thread, you know my stance that i like the barrel monsterbut why would the company that makes the barrels have any problem with him doing what he did to the barrels, they were already purchased from themor is the barrel company the same as the company that owned those barrels
6/17/2009 8:14:22 PM
no theyre owned by the cityso technically it is destruction of public property but still.....
