^ That is the shit, sir. Good find.
9/3/2009 9:55:21 PM
It's the same car they've always made, just with a different bumper slapped on it.
9/3/2009 10:49:46 PM
^Same chassis yes, but it's still a "different" car. It makes slightly more power than a regular Carrera. I find it very attractive aesthetically. The fact that it's limited in production makes it more of a collector's car though And the high price doesn't make it worth it if you are just after a "cool looking car"
9/3/2009 11:20:42 PM
so putting a body kit on a porsche isnt considered being a "ricer"?
9/4/2009 12:22:37 AM
^^That "Classic" is a rip off. 403 hp? The new 2010 (or is it 2011) 911 is going to have 400hp, so big deal. The GT2 looks better IMO and for $60k less will blow the doors off this car.As far as VW now "controlling" the company and pushing for more production, wtf is wrong with people. It's Porsche, it's not fucking BMW or Lexus its not supposed to be commonplace!motherfuckers
9/4/2009 8:33:04 AM
Actually, Ferdinand Porsche wanted to design a car that the family man could enjoy driving in the Alps with his entire family and have fun driving too... Porsches weren't meant to be rare like Ferraris and Lamborghinis... I never said the SC was a good buy. This is aimed more for a collector who likes limited edition/production vehicles. I'm sure they will have body kits in the future to mimic this look for the 996/997, so you don't have to buy one of these to get the look. Everything doesn't have to be about car x will go 0-60 or around a track faster than car y. In addition to the performance aspect, I see automobiles as artwork.[Edited on September 4, 2009 at 9:08 AM. Reason : .]
9/4/2009 9:08:08 AM
how do you justify tripling the price of a car just b/c it has different bumpers and some fancy wheels? And Porsches AREN'T rare like Ferraris and Lamborghinis. 100,000 cars sold a year is light years ahead of Ferrari + Lamborghini's output.[Edited on September 4, 2009 at 9:36 AM. Reason : And just about anyone can afford a Porsche...used.]

Has anyone heard about how after a failed hostile take-over of VW; the potential victim turned teh tables and took over Porsche! First act of business for VW was firing Porsche's CEO.
9/4/2009 2:10:00 PM
Yeah, it was practically a done deal that Porsche would buy VW. I don't know how they managed to screw that up so badly. Must have been too busy making SUV's.
9/4/2009 2:35:39 PM
sighthis was already posted....IN THIS THREAD. And the CEO resigned, but whatever...
9/4/2009 2:35:58 PM
What do you expect from a company founded by a war criminal?
9/4/2009 2:39:38 PM
Oh good one
9/4/2009 2:52:13 PM
Porsche used jewish slaves throughout the war, and while his son may have had some reservations, there's no evidence that he gave a shit as long as he could further his own career and get his car(the Type 1) built. If not for a few favors called in, he would have rotted in that prison until the day he died. Of course you could argue that Porsche was really Ferry's creation, but it's all the same car bringing in the same money going to the same family.
9/4/2009 3:01:23 PM
Oh really, I didn't realize they were a private company of course everyone already knows this is your fanatical "bone to pick"
9/4/2009 3:02:59 PM
I'd describe it more as my favorite troll bait.
9/4/2009 3:10:25 PM
Price aside, that sport classic is my favorite 911 variant right now. Def the best looking, anyway. Those pics downplay the roof too much, IMO

^^that doesn't make any sense. The Cayenne is their cash cow.And I'm no finance major, but how's it work that the company you're taking over suddenly owns you when the bank calls your debt? Why wouldn't the bank just take partial ownership? Or why wouldn't Porsche sell off their VAG shares?Either way, fuck VAG.[Edited on October 7, 2009 at 3:08 PM. Reason : k]

10/7/2009 4:31:08 PM
I missed those SC photos...damn that thing looks awesome. The ducktail and Fuchs-like wheels are great heritage items, and the double-bubble roof is pretty slick. How exactly are they justifying charging $250K for it, though?
10/8/2009 4:13:23 PM
Limited Edition collector's car. You pay for the rarity factor, that's it.

10/28/2009 9:43:09 PM
The current plan is to axe the Panamera as well as the Cayenne when the current development cycle runs out...
10/28/2009 10:16:42 PM
the cayenne was an overpriced pos anyway
10/30/2009 12:44:13 PM
i saw a panamera at the mall the other day. pretty sweet to see one in person, but it didn't quite give me the hard-on that most exotics give a car guy... i was still impressed by the 2 audi s7's I saw earlier in the day.
10/30/2009 2:54:09 PM
^Do you get a woody when you see an S600? I should hope not. The Panamera is not an exotic. I too, thought it looked good in person though, when I saw one the other week.Ahmet, where did you find that information? I have a hard time believing that Porsche would cancel the Panamera after only one life cycle. Seems like a waste of all the capital they invested in the program. Not to mention making the call before even seeing if the car is a success.
10/30/2009 3:41:14 PM
I believe it was on autoblog. I was/am interested in Porsche as a company, so I try to keep up with their corporate structure. The power struggle w/Wiedeking and Piëch will probably dictate this, since both the Panamera and the Cayenne were Wiedeking's doing. To see how much influence Piëch really has, remember the Phaeton, a car that really did not make sense to have in the VW family, especially when AUDI had the A8. I'm neutral on the topic since I think Piëch just wants to see Porsche more focused. He's certainly not done anything bad to Lamborghini (IMO anyway), and he was a big proponent of the Porsche 962 program if I remember correctly, the man likes racing, and being dominant. Of course, the current chief of Toyota is a big racing fan too, and we see them churn out one boring car after another, though it looks like they have some stuff in the pipeline as well. Time will tell I suppose...
10/30/2009 5:42:13 PM
It also seems strange they would cancel their cash cow, the Cayenne.
