I enjoyed it, but didn't find it all that remarkable. The humor was good, but I'm not buying that he discovered grace and humility because of one night with Natalie Portman.

I believe I could if I spent one night with Natalie Portman.

I like the movie. Maybe not as good as some of the previous Marvel films, but it was still entertaining. I suppose the only bit that got me was the sometimes awkward shifts in tone back and forth between the serious business of Asgard and the sometimes slapstick antics of Earth. Still, my siblings and I all enjoyed it.

the only way it works is if it is only because of his fathers perceived death. that would bring him crashing down more than anything else.

Iron Man movies were better.

Not on the level of Iron Man, Spider-man 2, or X-Men 2...

but it ranks on even level with Iron Man 2, Incredible Hulk, X-Men, and Spider-man.

It's better than Spider-man 3, X-Men 3, both Punisher films, Ghost Rider, Daredevil, and the Fantastic Four films.

and light years above Elektra and Ang Lee's Hulk.

I really liked the movie...
But I didn't like...

SPOILERS ALERT********"""""""*******

SPOILER ALERT *****************************************

Thor gets hit with Loki's weapon and flies through the wall and continues falling as the camera cuts away, next time you see him he is flying through the air at Loki on the rainbow bridge, a minute later Loki is about to destroy him, as Odin sheds a tear in bed, next shot Odin is flying through the air to catch them both as they are falling off the damaged bridge.

It felt like the editing was just way to sped up there at the end. I can deal with the Destroyer battle being short, but give me a good climactic fight scene at the end at least. Everything was blink and you missed it fast at the end.

Overall I thought the film served its purpose. Entertain people and introduce them to Thor to set up Avengers. Great ... but not fantastic.

Thorsten, put a long space at the end of the Spoiler too. That thing's right in my "bottom of the thread" o-meter.

Meh.

On the bad

The Thor plot felt both drawn out and like it needed more time to develop why Thor felt bad/fell in love/did anything really.

On the good, a lot of decent one-liners and I liked Loki more then Thor. If he didn't want to randomly murder his brother but just lie to him to keep him out of harm's way, he'd almost be the good guy.

watched this last night for the first time. I enjoyed it. To be honest I was never big on Thor growing up so I knew very little about his origin story compared to the other Avengers. But I thought it was visually stunning. the story felt lacking in some areas, like it wasn't fully flushed out.

Thor's universe is one of the best in Marvel IMO, if not the best.

I watched this last night after being dragged to see The Avengers, neither of which I had any knowledge about beforehand.

I liked Thor much more than The Avengers, I wish I had seen it before I saw avengers, I think a lot of stuff would have made more sense.

One thing though, Thor should have spent some more time shirtless. Also it would have been nice if there was a plot on earth for Thor to help and be a hero for. Saving them from something sent because of him, wasn't really enough for me to think he would be less arrogant and heroic. Something to cause him to be more endearing.

there wasn't supposed to be a plot to earth but a revelation or epiphany that just because he is strong and can fight wars the common people (his common people) cannot and thus war should be avoided. (the message odin gave him in the beginning)

in the 3 hour directors cut of the Avengers coming, there's apparently a lot more Thor.

Just FYI.

New Thor trailer:

I'm looking forward to this. I really enjoyed the first one and this trailer looked good. I'm a little confused about the kids in the opening scene.

This is just a guess but could be perceived as a spoiler so don't read below if you don't want to hear such things.

But I'm guessing Natalie Portman's character will die in this one.
