Rangers have a good chance of locking this series up in 5 anyway so it may be a moot point.Coulda been a sweep...

Hamilton is amazing. I haven't had a chance to watch him play much before the playoffs, but the ball just rockets off his bat and it's like he is not even swinging hard. Sucks that he wasted so many good years because he has the talent to be one of the all time greats.
10/20/2010 8:17:00 AM
greatest natural hitter to ever have been born. it's a shame really, hopefully he can enjoy what years he has left
10/20/2010 8:23:36 AM
10/20/2010 8:31:24 AM
im 100% serious.granted, no one's ever needed to, but name me the last person to take 5+ years off and come back and lead the league in hitting and contend for he triple crown?no im not exaggerating.
10/20/2010 8:35:12 AM
^ Ted Williams never took 5 years off, but did go off to war twice and still came back as good as ever. Either way being compared to Ted Williams is a huge compliment in itself. Imagine if the Reds had kept Hamilton and teamed him with Votto. What a fucking duo that would have been.
10/20/2010 8:58:23 AM
^^Its not like he came back and immediately led the league in hitting. It took him a few years. You need to put down the pipe.
10/20/2010 9:01:21 AM
10/20/2010 11:32:36 AM
Never mind the 5 years off. I meanhow many big league games did he play in before the break. Very few if I remember. All the yanks fans on my fb are all like "yea let's chear for a drug addict". I lol and just shrug it off. He's doing work but clearly ist the only one on the field
10/20/2010 11:34:23 AM
^^ Yeah well that too, but the Rays gave up on him when he had not yet proven he could still play. The Reds had him for his comeback year, saw that he could still play, and still traded him to the Rangers. Granted they got Volquez in that deal and he is a big part of their team now, but still they gave up on him too soon just like Tampa.
10/20/2010 11:39:57 AM
^^He never played higher than AA before he got picked up in the Rule 5 draft.

Hamilton should just be glad that Jerry Narron ( a NC native) was the manager of the Reds at the time and talked owners and gm into giving him a second chance
10/20/2010 1:09:26 PM
Hadn't their GM and Scouts already decided on drafting Hamilton before telling Narron about it?

10/22/2010 11:33:36 PM
^I'll be there too
10/22/2010 11:48:12 PM
Awesome. Happy for him and I'm sure he enjoyed his Ginger Ale celebration again. Can't say I'd root for the Rangers over the NL Giants, but I wouldn't be disappointed if they'd win either.
10/23/2010 12:33:16 AM
I will be cheering for Hamilton to get a WS championship ring, otherwise I wouldn't care who won or lost. All I could hope for coming into the post season was no Yankees, no Phillies. And that dream is almost complete.
10/23/2010 12:50:45 AM
I checked on flights to Dallas around Game 3, and it's like $550 per person I can stay w/ my fiance's entire family, but that plane ticket is a bit much.
10/23/2010 11:38:29 AM
have you tried seeing what it is through different airports? (richmond/charlotte)
10/23/2010 11:42:04 AM
^^ Just rent a car and drive. or if you have a car drive that. much cheaper than flying[Edited on October 23, 2010 at 2:33 PM. Reason : hb]
10/23/2010 2:29:49 PM
And it only takes 15 more hours to drive than fly![Edited on October 23, 2010 at 2:37 PM. Reason : One way that is!]

10/23/2010 4:02:50 PM
Jeez... I perused Packpride just a minute ago and the had a Josh Hamilton thread... go figure, it's full of a bunch of fucking morons berating him because he wore a UNC hat once despite the fact it's well documented he would have come here and works out here in the offseason. I swear some of our alumni are the biggest fools on the face of the earth.Embarrassing.
10/23/2010 4:23:10 PM
Pretty sure he never could've qualified academically to come here (not that there was any chance of him picking college over the MLB).
