So what is a bow on the underside of your wrist expressing exactly?
4/29/2013 9:57:22 PM
recently beating my depression about my self image. bows mean something to me that they dont to other people. which is why im not getting it on the back of my thighs or as a tramp stamp. its on my wrist, bc in my humble opinion, the wrist is one of the most fragile places on my body - symbolically.bows make me feel pretty and feminine and demure. and for me - feeling that way is extremely difficult. still is, but its a work in progress. 4/29/2013 10:03:30 PM
that bow is upside-down
4/29/2013 10:09:43 PM
maybe to other people it is. but its not for other people. its for me. and its right side up for me.
4/29/2013 10:10:47 PM
Ok no homo. But get it in white.. That way only people close to you know why. Otherwise it screams please ask me about my depression a d feel sorry for me.
4/29/2013 10:13:29 PM
no one is going to know it stands for my depression except for me - and now tww. also im pasty pale white already... and while i love my pasty, paleness...idk that itd look decent in white.also - just bc i think some people may read previous posts wrong - i just think wrists are vulnerable. never have i cut myself. nor will i ever. blood makes me pass out. i chose the "eat how you feel" way of dealing with things [Edited on April 29, 2013 at 10:17 PM. Reason : no cuttery!]
4/29/2013 10:15:29 PM
i didn't mean to imply that you cut[Edited on April 29, 2013 at 10:19 PM. Reason : .]

i know - i just figured i should prob add that disclaimer.
4/29/2013 10:21:26 PM
there are far more fragile places on the body than the wristsit just kind of sounds like you're trying to think of a good story for when people ask you why you have a bow on your wrist. which they will. about a million fucking times.
4/29/2013 10:26:32 PM
you should really consider not getting it upside down. talk to your artist about it.it will look like a deformed bunny.and if you ever get another forearm tattoo but right-side-up they will clash.ex:[Edited on April 29, 2013 at 10:36 PM. Reason : .]
4/29/2013 10:35:22 PM
I think it is cute and it means a lot to you but I think most tattoo artist will encourage you to get it below the bend of the wrist. And that place hurts like a mother fucker.

There are still more fragile places on the body symbolicallyFor example, the throat. I'm kind of sticking by my original theory that you got bored, doodled something and liked it but it had no real meaning so you made one up for it.However if I am incorrect and this does hold some sort of meaning about depression then i suggest you not get it somewhere where everyone and their brother will see it and ask about it bc then you get to explain for the rest of your life your mental history with every fucking body. Unless attention whoring about having a mental illness is your point.

wait. this decision making process has lasted for four years?just give it up. looks dumb and trashy anyways.
4/30/2013 8:35:56 AM
nah, i just had other things going on in the past 4 years. priorities and such.
4/30/2013 8:37:55 AM
hey or maybe as someone with physical fucking marks on her body, even my wrist, I know what it is like to have the constant damn reminder that you lost your fucking shitto have people ask you about it ALL THE FUCKING TIMEif you want a fucking bow, get a damn bow. but don't associate it with depression or you will come to hate that fucking tattoo.
4/30/2013 8:38:59 AM
herp de derp, i gots a ribbon on my wrist. herp de derp.
4/30/2013 8:39:50 AM
well then you should have at least some sort of, oh idk - less judgy attitude, if its something youve dealt with. and when people ask, you dont have to answer. soooo theres that too.
4/30/2013 8:40:54 AM
Maybe she should get a tattoo of the gun TWW recommended to her. Combine two advice threads in one.
4/30/2013 8:43:58 AM
DONE!
4/30/2013 8:46:01 AM
less judgey? you talk about this shit like it's not cyclic. like it's not going to come back. were you just recently diagnosed or something? you don't beat depression. you just fight. forever. and you can get to a point where you dont need drugs. or therapy. but it's still there. and you still have to make a conscious effort not to lose your shit regularly.so I'd say I'm sorry for trying to bluntly convince you that that bow depression tattoo is a stupid fucking decision, but I'm not. you're not going to listen to me, but just remember that I told you you were going to regret it.and as for not telling people about it, some random asshole on the internet asked and you spilled the damn beans so why wouldn't you do the same in person?
4/30/2013 8:46:21 AM
bc i dont plan on ever seeing trolls IRL so why not.
4/30/2013 8:49:07 AM
why not just get some canvas and actually express yourself, instead of paying someone else to express themselves on you and calling it "expressing myself".
4/30/2013 8:51:53 AM
how is getting a tattoo not actually expressing myself? pretty sure a lot of people would argue that point.altho i did try to use baking as a way to express myself. but that was sort of a catch 22. [Edited on April 30, 2013 at 9:00 AM. Reason : cookies!]

I am going to complete my redhead sleeve and probably get a few more tattoos after that. I do think it is nice when someone has no tattoos as well.

that's because youre accepting of all,
4/30/2013 9:03:28 AM
I got a wrist tattoo in January. Very few people have asked about it, actually. Not takin' sides, just sayin'. I will move along now.
4/30/2013 2:57:22 PM
What did you get?I'm Krallum and I approved this message.
4/30/2013 3:00:15 PM
it is true, most people mind their business about tattoos.
4/30/2013 6:23:08 PM
I witnessed someone with visible track marks from heroin abuse get them covered with a pretty cherry tree branch, she cried once it was done.I don't imagine she wants to remember her old habits much, but for her that tattoo made all the difference.I personally don't like wrist tattoos, especially the tiny ones that are just one word or some teeny tiny "symbol" of some random thing..... but in the end all tattoos are 'random' seeming when taken out of context.I agree with DDK, in that it is a constant battle. Also, I am not sure if I would ever want a reminder of when I lost my shit either, especially if in the future , knock on wood, something tragic happened in my life and I lost my shit again, and it would be a constant reminder that I lost it AGAIN. But seriously, if it marks some kind of milestone in your battle with depression and youdo want to remember how far you come and it's only for you.... then just fuck the hatersobviously a tattoo is permanent, make sure it's what you want.[Edited on April 30, 2013 at 6:58 PM. (new post new topic)The bow is cute, but why a bow? Everyone I know/have talked to about tattoos has regretted getting impulse tattoos, especially at a young age (stars on one person's ankle, a flower on another's, and another person with a quote on her side, to start). I'm not a big tattoo person, mostly because I'm far too indecisive and would get bored with it after a while (henna for the win!), and I question people who get tattoos because they "look cool", and not because they mean anything at all. Also, in terms of coming to people on the internet with advice, it can help you decide, but you'll usually go against it. People aren't great at telling you what they like or what they want, but they're very good at telling you that you're wrong, or what they don't want. Seeing responses saying one thing and disagreeing with them is actually a pretty decent way to know what you don't want, and it'll help you narrow it down to what you do want. The best advice I ever heard on tattoos is as follows:If you're considering getting a tattoo, once you've chosen the design, draw it on yourself or have a friend draw it on you with a sharpie. Every day (or every other day, if it lasts a while) for at least 6 months. That way, you can get used to it, having it show with different outfits, different seasons, and make sure it's really something you want to see everyday. If you're still happy with it, get it. If not, you've had the opportunity to figure that out. Also, if you think 6 months is too long to make that decision, then your whole life definitely is as well, and don't get it.[Edited on April 30, 2013 at 7:05 PM. Reason : Also yay Jews! It's the same logic as organ donation, don't alter the body, et cetera.]

i fucking love when folks come on here and ask for opinions and then get pissy when they don't get the answer they wanted
4/30/2013 7:08:51 PM
^ Hence my statement about people being way better at telling you what they don't want/like than what they do.TWW is a big clusterfuck of trolls, people who to share what they think is interesting and don't care about responses, and people who actually want conversation. Also, have you considered getting a white tattoo? They're really cool looking, and show up a lot more in the summer/if/when your skin is darker.

4/30/2013 9:07:45 PM
If I were black I'd totally get white ink tattoos
4/30/2013 9:16:40 PM
^Are you tan/olive skinned at all? If you're super pale or fair skinned then you probably wouldn't be able to see anything, but if you're not, or if you tan at all, they'd show up a lot. Are seasonal tattoos a thing? Can they be?[Edited on April 30, 2013 at 9:21 PM. Reason : stuff]
