I just saw this and it was pretty decent, but it wasn’t as good as I expected.I’m glad for any good sci-fi movie these days, but this was very predictable, and didn’t really go too “deep” into any issues.I think a sequel though, if it was ever to be made, could by very interesting.
11/28/2009 2:45:47 AM
I watched this last night and definitely enjoyed it...but the reveal wasn't near as shocking as i expected.question below with possible spoiler.Who was the girl that appeared in the chair and in front of the rover? Was it supposed to be eve? I expected that to be a bigger part of the mystery but it really wasn't
11/28/2009 10:53:26 AM
I was told it was his fully grown daughter, as she was seen later (with different hair) when he called home to Earth.
11/28/2009 3:00:43 PM
Good flick. Not hard to figure out what is going on pretty early on but it was very enjoyable.I think the worst thing they could do for this movie is make a sequel.
1/31/2010 8:58:45 PM
I saw this a week ago or so and really enjoyed it. It wasn't difficult to figure out what was going on, but I didn't feel that hurt the film in any way. I wasn't sure if the movie was going to be just a sci-fi flick or a sci-fi/horror film like Event Horizon. In my opinion it was a little of both, good sci-fi film that takes place on the moon in the future, but scary to realize that what happened isn't that implausible, not just in the future, but today as well.oh yeah, and:
1/31/2010 9:05:35 PM
alright. im convinced. I keep trying to get the gf to watch this, but have failed thus far. She bit on the Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, so may not be much further away...what else can I compare this movie to? "a mix of x and y"...
1/31/2010 10:04:13 PM
my gf was very bitter after i made her watch this. now i have to go see something on valentines day. you've been warned.
1/31/2010 10:15:24 PM
my gf did not like it either, so maybe there's a theme.I didn't have to do any convincing though. All I said was 'remember when we watched that sex and the city movie? yeah we are watching moon tonight'.
1/31/2010 10:43:10 PM
your relationships sound lame. believe it or not, you can watch a movie without the significant other
1/31/2010 11:00:07 PM
my girlfriend enjoyed it. therefore, she is better than all of your girlfriends.

i mean, why would you force a significant other to see a movie they have no desire to see. and then the other use that as leverage to get them to see a movie they don't want to see? it all seems really childish and dependent. don't you guys have other friends?[Edited on February 1, 2010 at 9:18 AM. Well what actually happenedWas that I went to see her movie on a date night because sometimes couples like going out together and make small sacrifices like that because they know the other would enjoy it.She saw a preview for moon and said it looked interesting. She didn't end up liking it big whoop. My statement was, perhaps not overtly, tongue in cheek with regards to forcing a viewing. But then I didn't expect the relationship police to drop their panties in the Moon thread.
2/1/2010 9:24:36 AM
see that sounds reasonable. your original story sounded like you were in a shitty (albeit pretty typical) relationship.
2/1/2010 9:30:42 AM
oh ill just come out and say i forced her to watch it but only in the sense that it was going to continue playing on the screen whether she liked it or not but she was free to get up at any point.
2/1/2010 11:28:24 AM
I watched it by myself. I tend to appreciate stuff like sci-fi moreso alone than with SOs.
2/1/2010 11:29:00 AM
So back to the actual movie...SPOILERWhat do people think about the call home to his daughter? Do you think that the original went back to Earth after the original 3 year contract? It sounded like Sam Rockwell but wasn't sure if it was supposed to imply he was home.END SPOILER[Edited on February 1, 2010 at 11:56 AM. Reason : bottom spoiler]
2/1/2010 11:56:18 AM
^ The original Sam could be heard when he called his daughter.
2/1/2010 12:11:01 PM
I believe it was the original dude back home.
2/1/2010 12:16:16 PM
Sure, I understand that it's the voice of Sam, just wasn't 100% if it was the original.
2/1/2010 12:48:20 PM
I took it to imply had he stuck around he would have seen himself but aged 12 years. i.e. the original that all the clones are based on.I do have a question. Since this is now out on dvd I don't think spoiler tags are still warranted but here***SPOILER****Did you all take the physical state as time went on of the first Sam the audience is introduced to as a sign that the clones have a very short lifespan? Or were his injuries from the crash causing him to vomit blood and teeth?****** /SPOILER ***********[Edited on February 1, 2010 at 2:26 PM. Reason : *]
2/1/2010 2:25:40 PM
*************SPOILER ANSWER*************Short life span. No doubt. It shows video clips of previous clones looking like complete shit before hopping into their dirt-napinator4000.*************/SPOILER*************[Edited on February 1, 2010 at 2:32 PM. Reason : *************]
2/1/2010 2:32:18 PM
ahh true, forgot they were coughing and stuff in those short clips
2/1/2010 2:34:17 PM
Yep, definitely think that it was due to lifespan
2/1/2010 3:56:19 PM
Maybe he was just an incredibly unhealthy guy, and so were all the clones.
2/1/2010 6:16:32 PM
also I remember one clone saying "my hair is falling out!" or something before going in the pod <font color=blue>
2/14/2010 3:10:21 PM
If they had a longer lifespan.... the "contract" would be longer than 3 years.
2/14/2010 5:00:48 PM
^ Or 3 years could be the mental breaking point regardless of lifespan.
2/14/2010 5:01:59 PM
Could be. According to wikipedia, it's their lifespan:
2/14/2010 5:08:03 PM
Arrived today from netflix
2/18/2010 8:20:09 PM
and?
2/18/2010 9:42:11 PM
watched this over the weekend from netflix. wife and i both enjoyed it. wasn't really the movie we were expecting, but in a good way. for some reason the trailer had me thinking it was more like psychological and that sam rockwell was losing his mind or something.
2/22/2010 2:58:06 PM
just finished watching it, and we enjoyed it as well.****SPOLIER****I definitely agree that as the clone aged during the 3yr contract the clone itself starts to break down and die. Just merely the lifespan of the clone. I love that the 2nd Sam triggered the new coordinates to take down the antennae blocking the live feed.
2/22/2010 8:21:44 PM
that movie so good! u know what we are really pretty much just clones ourselves, although we don't have a purpose like the guy in the movie. it kind of depressing. maybe i should try to find a way out of the cycle too. oh and gertie is so cool to have been honest with him, that a statement about the benevolence of our future machine masters I guess.
2/23/2010 1:33:53 PM

SPOILER
2/24/2010 5:45:58 PM
I assume Gerty was able to turn off/turn on the antennae at will--or maybe those on the other end could as well.
2/24/2010 6:10:37 PM
SPOILER^^ My guess was that they could turn the antennas off and on from earth to contact Gerty. The second Sam destroyed the antenna to keep it off permanently (until they fixed it).[Edited on February 24, 2010 at 6:11 PM. Reason : ^ Beat me to it.]
