I actually find Leslie Knope much less annoying than Michael Scott. They've made Amy Poehler's character much better this season.

and Ron F'n Swanson is the best thing on the show.

ron swanson is absolutely hilarious. as is aziz ansari. i also have a serious crush on aubrey plaza, which is almost a given.

i really can't get enough of this show right now. i watched the ones on hulu, then downloaded whichever ones i could find w/o torrenting, then downloaded all of them and am watching them all in order.

I caught this interview of Nick Offerman (Ron Swanson) on Carson Daly. Turns out he's actually a pretty cool dude who enjoys building canoes in his spare time.

Oh shit. It's Detlef Schrempf time tonight!

^^^ I like Michael better, but she is ok to watch this season. The shows last season were nearly unwatchable with her...

So many good Ron Swanson quotes last night

give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. don't teach a man to fish and you feed yourself for a lifetime. fishing's not that hard stupid

God I love this show. If you watched only the first season and stopped you owe it to yourself to watch again. It's not the same show. Episode tonight was amazing.

ok, so my question to you then as someone who watched maybe the first two episodes. do you need to watch the first season, or can I just start in season 2?

You're joking right? Rob Lowe is absolute garbage. Please tell me he is not going to be a regular. I actually like this show.

Just start with season 2. There isn't much you won't pick up on in a matter of minutes.

And if you hated Amy poehler's character they have toned her down, she's great now

^^He's a regular as far as I know...he's fine in minor comedic roles, but really I was more excited about Adam Scott joining the cast.

^I really liked the finale of season 1, but I'm a sucker for Mouse Rat or Scarecrow Boat or whatever they're calling themselves this week.

^agreed. I think i'm going to like Lowe's character. Don't know how long they can keep it up, but i think it'll be good. And seeing Ron Swanson almost transform into a 10 year old at christmas was hilarious.

I wonder if "whoomp, there it is" will turn into a tag line for Adam Scott's character as sort of a nod/thank you to Party Down?

Add* Rob Lowe isn't signed on as a series regular, but Adam Scott is. Lowe is supposed to be around for the finale, and the opening several episodes of next season. No news after that.

Haha, Tom is so hilarious. I love that he thinks he has amazing game. And that Ron has had like ten man-crushes so far this year.

I will say that Rashida Jones just does nothing for me. I don't think I've ever laughed at anything she has said or done -- on P&R or The Office. The ONLY weak link on this show, IMO.

^Ghost edit; you can do it.

Thank God. It was painful to watch him, even as a character meant to be annoying. He's a terrible actor. You people are crazy.

Nick Offerman is a genius.

so for those of you who don't follow TV news and the network business much, Upfronts are this week, which is when networks and some of the larger cable channels unveil their fall lineups.

well NBC was on monday, along with fox, and one of the biggest shockers for the fall is that Parks & Rec will not be back in the fall. Instead they are pushing it back to a mid-season show. Really annoys me, but NBC has like 3 new sitcoms they are going to try and premiere after the Office.

the lineup for fall looks like this

8:00 - Community
8:30 - 30 Rock
9:00 - The Office
9:30 - New Comedy (can't remember the name)

I have long felt that 30Rock was the weakest of the nightly comedies and it's ratings have shown that as well. Which is why they are trying to sandwhich it between their biggest two. But i don't see myself watching 30R in order to make it to The Office or whatever follows. The Office will probably get regulated to DVR status again.

But, to digress, for what is probably the most consistently funny show on right now P&R, to banish them to a mid-season premiere is a terrible move. Especially when trying to recapture an audience that was turned off by season 1. The improvements made in season 2 are going to unrewarded more than likely.

Thoughts? Also, thoughts on an Network Upfronts thread?

Yeah, I saw this on Mike Schur's twitter. That does suck as that was the best show this Thursday comedy-wise for me. I guess they want to get the most viewers to see that new comedy, whatever it may be, so they threw that on after The Office considering it draws better ratings still than any two of the other three combined most weeks.

This season of 30 Rock has been really inconsistent and not nearly as funny as the earlier seasons but it's still better every other sitcom not on NBC (with the exception of Modern Family). NBC really dicked over Parks and Rec though, and Sepinwall really hates Outsourced.

I was shitting all over this show earlier in the thread (when the first episodes aired) but this show gets WAY better from S1 to S2. I'm glad I gave it another shot and I'm looking forward to it coming back now

If Parks and Rec gets bumped for good because of Outsourced, there truly is no hope for network television.

That show was awful, turned it off after 10 minutes.

"And to pre-empt the question I get most often: "Outsourced" failing quickly wouldn't automatically get "Parks and Rec" back on the air quickly, as NBC has several other mid-season comedies, and they're ones developed by the current head of the network, where "Parks and Rec" is a survivor of the Ben Silverman era. So while I'd like to think Angela Bromstad will go with quality over advancing her own stuff, that's not always the way this works."

" As first reported by EW, the Peacock is going with an all-comedy lineup on Thursdays beginning Jan. 20. Community will continue to kick off the night at 8 p.m., followed by the new sitcom Perfect Couples at 8:30, The Office at 9, the return of Parks and Recreation (woo-hoo!) at 9:30, just-renewed 30 Rock at 10, and Outsourced at 10:30.
"

w00t. Though the office is struggling it's still a ratings winner and Parks & Rec has never had the opportunity to use The Office lead in to boost its ratings. This should be great for P&R, especially with a 30 Rock follow up. What we'll probably see is Outsourced drift off into oblivion at 10:30 though.
