My girlfriend is allergic to cats, so I was worried at first. However, we discovered that exposure was the best medicine. Her allergies acted up for the first week or two, but now she's totally used to the cat and doesn't have problems anymore.

Well if things get serious with this girl then I'll go about that plan of action but I don't want her first experience at my place to be associated with sneezing/congestion/etc.

get some benadryll and spike her wine with it.

on a side note, the side affect is severe drowsiness, so she might end up crashing at your place.

Things have actually gone really well . I've ended up seeing her every day this week! This week's summary [WORDS]:

Wednesday night she came over for Lost. I made her dinner which she really liked. Although there was no all out cuddling or anything there was a lot of playful flirtation/blanket stealing/etc. I could tell she was pretty comfortable with me. We agreed that Wednesday night Lost and me making her dinner would be a regular thing (and probably Monday night Heroes).

Thursday we talked online a bit and she said she had a really good time, the dinner was fantastic, that I was amazing (she said that nobody is ever this nice...), and that she really liked me . She texted me from work at like 7pm saying she was still there and REALLY needed a drink after a long day. We met up at a bar/grill a little later and talked for a while. Then kissed .

Friday we finally met up for the date that I actually asked her out for when I called her last weekend . We were originally going to go ice skating and go to dinner, but earlier in the day she said she was coming down with a cold and probably wouldn't be up for ice skating, but would be for dinner. I took her to her favorite restaurant. She wasn't feeling ice skating but suggested coming back to my place to hang out. So we came back here and sat talking. We ended up kissing for a bit (not really making out or anything) but lots of close contact was involved. It was nice. She said she actually wanted me to kiss her the night I made her dinner.

Yesterday she called in the afternoon and said she happened to be near my place since I live kinda close to the local mall and she was doing some shopping. She was meeting up with her friend to go see a movie in a bit but asked if she could come hang out with me for a few hours. Of course I was more than happy for her to. We ended up cuddling/light kissing and talking like we've come accustomed to doing.

So I gotta say, it has worked out better than I could have imagined so far. I can tell she likes me and she knows I like her a lot. The next [scheduled] time that we plan on seeing each other is for trivia on Tuesday, then for Lost/dinner the following day. I'm a little worried that she's gonna get sick or tired of me or something since we have seen each other so much so quickly though. Girls, have you gotten sick of seeing a guy that you like a lot? I mean, she said that every time this week before we met, she got pretty excited.

^ I agree... don't worry about "the rules". If you want to see each other, do it. With that said, if you want time to yourself, listen to that because it probably means the other person wants time to him/her self as well. One of my relationships ended because we spent way too much time together... both of us wanted our own time but were too chicken to tell the other to fuck off when we wanted that me-time.

Well honestly, I've been thinking about her a lot and wanting to spend more time with her. So would it be a good assumption that she's feeling the same way ? Normally when I've dated a girl, for the first few weeks or so, I would always been the one to call her up and ask her to do something. But this girl has called me and asked me to hang out just as much as I have her.

^ yeah, that's typically how I view it. If you're thinking about her and wanting to spend time with her, she's more than likely thinking about you and wanting to spend time with you

Actually it kinda worked in my favor that she was feeling sick. I figured it was a little too early to be bringing her flowers or something, but knowing that she was sick, I stopped and got her a big jug of orange juice (Vitamin C ) and a Zicam Nasal Gel thing (Zicam is awesome for getting you through a cold). She thought it was sweet of me and has since been feeling better.

No
It was very much what you described: neither of us could wait til the next time we saw each other, and it took a looooooooooooooong time to get to the point of choosing something else over hanging out. And now we're engaged and shit

If you're worried about that, at some point when it seems like it'd fit into the flow of the conversation, say something like "Hey...we've been seeing each other a lot lately, and I love your company. I hope this isn't a case of too much, too soon. Is it?"

She sounds pretty chill, so I think
1) she'd understand where you're coming from
2) have no problem telling you so, if it ever became an issue

LOL just read the 2nd page too...sounds like you're in the clear and she woudl tell you if you two are spending too much time together.

We've made plans for Valentine's Day (among other plans for other things as well). I'm a pretty good sushi chef, so I'll be making her sushi. She mentioned earlier that she's a pretty big fan of sake. I don't know the first thing about sake... does anyone have any recommendations as to specific types or brands?

She likes her sake hot.

Also will I be able to get some at a regular supermarket like Kroger (or would it be low-quality from a place like that)? I'd think they would at least have it at Fresh Market or a private Asian market.

Well I just got the "just friends" speech so it didn't end quite as well as I was hoping. For what it's worth, TWW, I thank you kindly for all the advice, it did help immensely and gave me a bit more confidence then I would have had otherwise.

While it sucks, don't worry about it. You're lucky that you didn't put a lot of effort and hope into the V-Day plans when they weren't going to work out.

Just move on to the next girl and use what you learned this time to help. Be confident and yourself and you'll be fine, it just wasn't meant to be with this one.

On another note, you can send me the jellybeans.

How far you get sexually?

From reading the thread...sounds like she was pretty in to you. Makes me think someone else came along. And if a girl hasn't invested a lot into you yet (hence the sex question), then it's easier for her to break it off and check to see how green the grass is on the other side.

eh, we made out a bit and there was some heavy petting. There very well could be someone else that she got interested in. She promised me that there wasn't, but people lie so who knows. I just hope that if there is, he acts like a complete douche and she realizes what she gave up. Oh well. Another one bites the dust.

I'm also of the opinion that you kinda gotta chill when it comes to hanging out so much at the beginning.

Not saying it always works out bad, but you don't want to give up all control from the get-go. Either way...sounds like it was unavoidable in this situation anyways.

Yeah, I'm not one to sleep with someone on the first date, but from how much it sounds like yall hung out, I think more shoulda happened. That would've taken things up to the next level... as it was, it sounds like you got trapped in the dreaded FRIEND ZONE

When you're first meeting a girl her interest is piqued. That is your window of opportunity. You absolutely have to lock that shit down right then and there. Be aggressive. No means yes. If you don't force the action the next guy will and you'll be out of the mix drunk texting her while you eat the freezer burned broccoli lean pockets.

so, along the same lines- what if you went on one date with the person- it went really well... but then they tell you that the timing isn't right for a relationship- wtf does that mean? are they interested but really just too busy??? it must be added that i'm talking about a dude that lives in NC and i live in philly, but i'm moving back to NC in late July/early August.

from a MALE perspective- what does "not the right time" mean???

i sort of think with men that it's like another version of "just friends"

maybe i should start a new thread for this, but whatev. it's driving me nuts.
