angels & demons is basically getting negative publicity from all over, from what i kept hearing, so i figured no one of terminator interest would care, but i guess ill edit...

I felt disappointed, robots were pretty weak. some decent action scenes, ambiguous plot and alot of unneeded scenes. I guess its worth atleast 1 showing, but overall, meh

I thought it was pretty crappy. Had cool action scenes and special effects but the story was terrible. Also wasn't a fan of Christian Bale in this one.

Just a heads up, if you're planning on seeing this at Galaxy, become a fan of us on Facebook. I'll be sending out a coupon for a free popcorn with admission to Terminator later on this afternoon to everybody in the group.

I thought it was pretty good...it was entertaining at least

those going in with higher expectations need to really question what they're expecting from a terminator movie

Simply because the first two was so good and the trailers for this one gave me hope that it would be on the same level.

you people should have known it was going to be shitty with a guy named McG directing it, even without the knowledge that he used to direct music videos

Just read the plot summary on wikipedia and holy shit it sounds awful.

To be fair, I lost almost all hope for this movie when I saw the giant robot with a gun for a head in the trailer.

ALL I could think about at the end was

blood type....blood type....bloodtype....bloodtype....BLOODTYPE!

JOHN CONNOR HAS THE SAME BLOOD TYPE AS TERMINATORS!

I enjoyed it. I liked some of the throwbacks to the old movies, I especially liked that they used "You Could be Mine" by Guns N Roses when he was capturing that motorcycle Terminator, it was on the soundtrack of T2.

***SPOILER***

I was totally caught off guard by the cameo by Arnie as the T-800, that was a really nice touch.

***END SPOILER***

I think the main problem with this film though was that it was a war movie and nothing more. The original Terminator films were thrillers... the concept of a literally unstoppable robot assassin coming back in time to kill you in any way possible seems a lot more urgent and suspenseful. In this movie since they had been at war they had the weaponry to kill a Terminator readily available, so there wasn't as much of a sense of despair.

i dont know much about blood types, or compatibility of human organs

but i was thinking that maybe they gave Marcus Wright a type O- (i.e. universal donor) heart in case it was ever needed for someone else or something

I think the main problem with this film was the pacing, the acting, the dialogue, the weak plot, and the pointless little girl.

yeah seriously wtf was that? V

another thing that stuck out is the fucking asian chick's real name was MOON BLOODGOD.

the thing about the terminator saga, is a lot of people haven't seen the first, second, or third movie or don't remember things that happened in them, so things can get a little too confusing for the simpleton audience; and it really needs things like the deaf kid and the pilot chick with perfect teeth in order to keep them interested.

that being said, it was enough of an action film such that i didn't nerdrage over the little things like marcus and john's organ compatibility (it's the future), or how they lived on a submarine (but could hop on and off at will), or how john survived a helicopter crash in the middle of atomic fallout. or how marcus was able to rip out a chip from his brain and be cool about it. or how inept machines are at shooting bullets at people listed in the credits.

i liked it.

you should add that they have the power to travel in time, but didn't bring it up once, because that's no big deal.

I went in with low expectations and enjoyed it well enough. It's just that this seems kind of inconsequential within the context of the other films. At the end I was just like "okay, whatever." It might have been more interesting if they had kept the original ending.

Digitized Arnold was pretty much the creepiest special effect ever.

I liked Chekov as Reese.

i dont think they had developed time travel yet at the point in time of the movie (2018?)

the T-800 was a prototype, Kyle Reese was going through puberty it seems (doubtful that he gets sent back and sarah connor wants to bang him)

^Wiki (yeah, yeah) says that reese is a teen here, 2012 right? In terminator he is listed as 21 or 22, so making him16 now seems about right.

What was the original ending?

I still think its so absurd.

I wouldnt say incredibly horrible.

I would say, didnt live up to the hype of Bale's rant last year.

And they had alot of lines/scenes in the trailers that wernt in the movie, or if they were, were different than in the trailers. Making them worse.

Saw it. One review I read says it best that there's probably a better Terminator movie once you pick the pieces off the cutting room floor. I get the feeling they originally went for a 2.5 hour R-rated movie (which might be decent) and the suits told them to do PG-13 and shorten the length by 30 minutes, hence the obvious missing transition during several points of the movie. Additionally, I have to think in the beginning the whole "Marcus is a terminator" angle was meant to be a secret. Then, of course, the ending was changed. Movie was worth a view, and I'm looking to see the deleted scenes come DVD time.

a text last night from a friend who saw it reads:

Quote :
"
Terminator 4 is an unbelievably terrible piece of shit.
It doesnt merit discussion. Its literally a joke of an action
movie. Embarrassing for everyone involved, on every level.
Oh my god, so bad. Shocking.

(later)

T1 was about the conquering nature of love. T2 was about
the power found in family. T3 was about the inevitability of
death. T4 is about SPLOSIONS DUR THE ROBOT DO A BMX
BIKE JUMP IM A FUKIN RETARD.

movie gets a lot of hate, but imdb rating is around 7.7 after 6,600 votes, i would assume the same people that post on message boards are the ones voting

strange how it's not matching up so far

I guess the people that love the movie have a desire to go vote it up and rebel against the critics and anyone with a brain, while the people that hate it don't care.

I'd also like to point out that it was stupid of them to show in the main trailer that Marcus was a Terminator. It would have been a hell of a lot better if we had found out he was a Terminator at the same time the characters on screen did.

btw, I just watched the first Terminator. Kyle Reese came back from 2027. Skynet developed the time travel technology, the facility was captured by humans shortly after the first Terminator was sent back.

Spider-Man 3 set the bar so high for "Epic Fail" status. I think I would compare Terminator: Salvation more to something like X-men 3. Not exactly a horrible piece of shit, but alot of wasted potential. I've never really been a McG fan, per se, but I'm not sure if this one is on him or not. Right now, I think I'm more inclined to blame the producer or the studio for pushing a shorter run time/PG-13.
