^take my comment at face value. Who knows what happened while burning the iso. I got these TDK disks for 9.99 at staples.Files copied no problem, expanding the files on the other hand...

i still can't finish a d/l from the link i posted before. i have 8 copies of around 350-400mb when it quits...?

Just got my key with no problems. No delay or lag on the server. For some reason, the download link at the end isn't working though.*edit* just noticed that it keeps telling me to install silverlight so I guess that's the problem. I'm kinda surprised that it let me get 3 keys without a problem though. I figured that they'd limit it to 1-2 each.[Edited on January 10, 2009 at 1:33 PM. Reason : .]

Links to get the keys directly:Windows 7 32-bithttps://www.microsoft.com/betaexperience/productkeys/win7-32/enus/default.aspxWindows 7 64-bithttps://www.microsoft.com/betaexperience/productkeys/win7-64/enus/default.aspx...ok so apparently you do have to be logged into Live for those links to work, but once you are you can keep going to those links and receive a different key each time.[Edited on January 10, 2009 at 1:57 PM. I literally just finished installing all of my drivers about 5 minutes ago. Thanks for the post, totally scored my key.

They changed the hostnames for the links by the way, so if anyone has found the previous download links not working, here's the new links.Windows 7 32-bit:http://wb.dlservice.microsoft.com/dl/download/6/3/3/633118BD-6C3D-45A4-B985-F0FDFFE1B021/EN/7000.0.081212-1400_client_en-us_Ultimate-GB1CULFRE_EN_DVD.isoWindows 7 64-bit:http://wb.dlservice.microsoft.com/dl/download/6/3/3/633118BD-6C3D-45A4-B985-F0FDFFE1B021/EN/7000.0.081212-1400_client_en-us_Ultimate-GB1CULXFRE_EN_DVD.iso[Edited on January 10, 2009 at 2:28 PM. Finally made it past the 400mb barrier that I kept hitting. Switched to IE to try it and seems to be working fine. Only hitting 250-ish kb/sec tops but I'm at 763mb so far. If anyone else is having problems with the download, try IE.
1/10/2009 3:16:19 PM
so i have it installed in VMware now. no problems at all.how do i crack the activation though? if you do it via proper MS link, does it come with a key? How long is that key good for?
1/10/2009 3:26:31 PM
Haven't finished downloading yet but I believe they were saying the key is good until August 09
1/10/2009 3:31:12 PM
It has a key that goes out 8/1/09, but the earlier released version had a work around to kill the deactivation. Dunno if it works on the legit version or not.
1/10/2009 3:34:36 PM
i got a bittorrent version that said the activation was up in 3 days. i dunno if thats how the cracked act worked our not.but i signed up proper now and used that key to activate and all seems good. runs great in vmware, minus 3d stuff. I did a performace test and got a 1.0 I thought VMware did semi ok with 3d stuff. I have VMware tools installed, am i missing something?
1/10/2009 3:54:51 PM
Running it on my 30 gig HDD and so far it runs really well. It even noticed one of my littler hard drives is going bad, which XP has never told me.

Did anybody get hit by the mp3 bug?
1/11/2009 1:01:30 PM
no, because I installed the patch before I did anything.
1/11/2009 2:27:39 PM
First I'm hearing about it. Thankfully I haven't used WMP since version 7, but I installed the patch anyway. Doesn't look like any of my mp3s were affected.
1/11/2009 7:42:31 PM
have they released upgrade pricing for the final release?
1/11/2009 7:58:37 PM
I have actually been enjoying WMP. Luckily it autoinstalled the patch when I setup last night, so I never had to worry about that little issue.
1/11/2009 10:38:30 PM
I haven't seen any indication of pricing at all - I wouldn't expect to until late this year at the earliest. We'll probably continue to see 5 or more flavors of the OS with Win 7.

1/12/2009 1:17:48 PM
Has anyone tried to stream movies via wireless to Windows 7? I know it's a bit vague but I doubt anyone here will have the exact setup that I'm running but for me there seems to be quite a bit of stuttering when streaming divx/xvid that did not exist in XP.

any ideas on why I have a 5+ minute lag sometimes when browsing network locations? it's fucking awful.. it works fine for an hour or so then goes all to hell. the funny part is if it freezes then i go to start, run and enter \\servername and hit enter..it comes up just fine and the other window that was frozen begins working. very strange. i've wasted a good hour today just waiting on shit to open.. it's about time to go back to XP.

Okay if someone could help me out here I would really appreciate it... I am running XP Pro x86 SP3, 2.83ghz quad core and 4gb ram. I'm trying to Sun VirtualBox to run Windows 7 on a VM. I am 99.99999% positive that I downloaded Win7 32 bit, but when I try to boot in VirtualBox I get an error message saying - Info: Attempting to load a 64-bit application, however this CPU is not compatible with 64-bit mode. You can look at the ISO name in the screenshot... I get the same name when I download this from any number of places, so I'm pretty sure I have the 32 bit version. I don't get it?!?!?You guys that know more about all this than I do would make me really happy if you could help me figure this out...

^^It's very likely that Sun VirtualBox simply doesn't support the image.Use VMWare or Parallels.
1/12/2009 7:34:05 PM
Thanks I'll try that now...
1/12/2009 7:43:22 PM
Is there a free version for Windows of either of those that's not a trial? Or will I have to get it elsewhere?
1/12/2009 7:50:43 PM
Noen,The stuttering was experienced in both WMP and VLC. After transferring the files locally everything was played perfectly in both players. The transfer rates were around 500Kish on an 802.11g connection. I have submitted a watered down version of the problem but as I gather more information this too will be submitted. And it is submitted They should let you upload videos/screenshots showing the problems encountered. I love it when people do that for bugs in our software. Makes it so much easier to reproduce and send up to development.[Edited on January 12, 2009 at 8:01 PM. Reason : ]

Go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/ and click on "Try the Beta". This will get you your license keys and install a download manager that will allow you to download the entire package.

I used the links here to avoid all Microsoft's crap... Download was quick and ISO file is fine... I'm trying to run it in a VM now.http://www.blogsdna.com/1940/windows-7-beta-1-direct-download-link.htm[Edited on January 12, 2009 at 8:07 PM. Reason : add URL]

The Microsoft download manager isn't bad. If you have ever used MSDN it is very similar . I got tired of all the links I used stopping after about 300 megs.
