yeah, it's the same thing i was thinking about. if you're headed east you turn off 58, then turn left at the tower, then go down there and take a left and it takes you right into maysville. near a funeral parlor iirc.

we always just called it "the shortcut where you go by that tower behind the doublewide"

[Edited on February 18, 2009 at 2:07 PM. Reason : is it snake road b/c it's curvy as fuck?]

It's probably one of those deals where some dude saw the biggest snake he had ever seen in his life on that road, told all his friends about it, and then it just went from there. That's how ENC works; ENC don't care about maps.

^Pretty sure it's because it's curvy as fuck and not because someone saw a snake out there, although you can see snakes out there.

i see what your saying and understand what you mean about how ENC works. i'm just saying that i'm a local to that area, and locals don't call it snake road. my granddad used to say 'they really turned the snake loose on this road, didn't they?' (probably cause its curvy as fuck) but we never called it snake road. anyways, i guess its kinda like little washington. i think everyone calls it little washington, except for little washington locals. i heard they get upset if you call the town anything other than 'washington'.

Who from Wilson remembers Mitchell's BBQ? It wasn't as good as Parker's or Bill's (who is??) but it was still decent.

I'm from Ocean Isle, I do not want to be classified with the fucks from HYDE GODDAMN COUNTY no matter how far east it may be. I wish someone would build a town in Hyde country just so you shitheads from it will stop claiming the whole damn county as your hometown.

Here's a question for you ENC people. If you are heading north from Wilmington on highway 17, right before you hit Holly Ridge there is a mailbox that has a really big sign coming up from the post that has the number 19 on it. I really want to know why. It's not the address because the house number is on the actual mailbox. Anyone know?

i'll take a crack at this one. I think the sign that you are referring to is a channel marker. I'm just guessing that someone thought it would be a neat idea to take a channel marker from the channel, and put it in their front yard. thats my guess.
