Seriously, is that the best you can do? Attack me personally when I have a problem with Cabinet picks? Attack my fraternity and old photos in my profile? Guess what, everyone knows I'm a TKE. Its in my name, and I'm proud to have been in that fraternity. There's nothing wrong with being alarmed about pro-AGW people being put in charge of our government when there is absolutely no proof that CO2 emissions are causing an increased temperature. Oh wait, the global temperature hasn't risen since 2001...

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THE TEMPERATURE HAS RISEN GLOBALLY EVER

The pick of Ken Salazar for the Dept. of the Interior was a pleasant surprise for me. He's a good moderate who will likely try to balance the need for land use with conservation. However, from the press I've been reading, the environmentalists are pissed off. I'm glad that Obama is tacking toward the center with his cabinet, but I do wonder what'll happen if he further aggravates his more left-leaning allies with decisions like this, or perhaps he will throw them some "red meat" later on in form of other bills.

I think the decision to select Rick Warren to do the invocation is another example of what I mentioned. I am a bit puzzled though given how furious the anti-Prop 8 crowd was with Warren; Obama selecting Warren to do the invocation at the inauguration is perhaps the ultimate insult to what was otherwise a very loyal community to Obama. It makes sense if he's positioning himself to rule from the center, but it's going to start alienating his supporters.

^^^^The 30s were the hottest decade on record, so that graph isn't accurate.
12/17/2008 8:22:55 PM
That graph also isn't a graph of temperatures (though the title would certainly make you think it was)
12/17/2008 8:26:59 PM
^good point. I knew it was only temperature variation, but i didn't put that together in my head Very interesting chart, "Temperature anomaly". Interesting, b/c the earth's temperature has never been static.[Edited on December 17, 2008 at 8:36 PM. Reason : k]

Oh no, not this shit again.Learn to read a graph, goddamn.^^^ The 30's were absolutely NOT the hottest years on record. They were the hottest years on record in the United States. There is more to the world than just the US.

^No I'm afraid its MY OPINION you dolt. Nice try though. Wow, its really amazing how easy it is to be attacked for opposing AGW. Its almost like a sample of the whole scientific community. And no I haven't researched who I'd pick for those cabinet positions b/c I don't have enough free time for that sort of thing. But I would absolutely pick someone more open minded and even handed, not some closed minded nuts from CA.

Yep, predictably, as the issue has become more political and polarizing, the truth has become more obscured. It's about time for both sides to pipe down on the rhetoric.

^^you should try doing some research on the matter and then post something worth reading.

HUR is completely rightwe are a product of the neo-industrial age, and also an environmental anomaly that happens every 250-500 years years .. the combination of the 2 is destructive, but nature always finds a wayuntil we realize, no matter how bad it gets, nature WILL find a way.. if a certain amount of responsibility/technology is understood, which i think we are 100x better than during carter's days, we cant point the finger at a single candidate
