Page 3 of trying to figure out NCState's bowl bid[Edited on November 30, 2008 at 12:02 AM. Reason : your mom]

Let's go Wildcats! I hope the Zona Zoo shows up in full force next week. Please to not disappoint like this team
11/30/2008 12:21:29 AM
also gotta account for the Big12 getting multiple teams into the BCS at large which could open a few spots, same with the SEC and possible the PAC-10 if UCLA beats USC next week
11/30/2008 12:32:13 AM
So if the Big 12 South winner makes it to the National Championship game and the loser of the OU/UT BCS rating tie-breaker gets in a BCS bowl, then the Big XII might end up having two bowls that they can't fill.

^ we should have a college football awards thread

i'll go apeshit if Clemson gets into a bowl and we don't only because they scheduled two D-1AA teams.
11/30/2008 1:44:44 AM
^ exactly.
11/30/2008 1:47:09 AM
isn't it a 2 game rule? for example we can't bypass UNC for a bowl because they have 2 more wins, but the bowl comittee can choose 6-6 over a 7-5 based on preference? Sorry if it's been discussed already.Seems like Charlotte would want Clemson, they travel just as well as we do. I like the bowl in DC though, I think that we'll end up there.
11/30/2008 1:47:36 AM
well get ready to go apeshit.
11/30/2008 1:47:39 AM
no. for our acc tie in bowls there are 9 acc teams with 7 wins so unless im completely wrong (which is very possible) our ACC bowls are locked in and we are on the outside. We have to hope for an atlarge bid atm, hopefully one of the 2 big 12 bowls vacant. and we really really need the sun devils to lose
11/30/2008 1:54:59 AM
Man, between here and packpride, I don't think anyone really knows what the rules are about conference tie-ins. The at large BCS bids is pretty clear though, 7-5 teams go before 6-6, but again, that is lame if 2 of those wins are from FCS schools.
11/30/2008 2:00:03 AM
nobody knows what the fuck is going on. Its just a bunch of people typing out their interpretations of rules. The only one that is a FACT is that outside of the ACC, 7-5 teams have to be taken before 6-6 teams. I don't think anyone really understands the ACC rule. I always thought it was determined by conference record, which would leave about 6 teams at 4-4 fighting for the bowls. Who knows.....i'll enjoy the ride
11/30/2008 2:02:38 AM
i bet we will go to the peach bowl!!
11/30/2008 2:02:40 AM
I'm pretty sure clemson counts as a 6 win team, the same as us, because only one of their FCS wins counts towards bowl eligibilitythis would mean we COULD go to an acc bowl, depends on if we're picked over Clemson[Edited on November 30, 2008 at 2:03 AM. Reason : d]
11/30/2008 2:02:54 AM
Sucks that it s Clemson, since they travel well and will bring in the $. If it were Wake, UNC, hell even GT it would be better for us, if they really are considered just a 6 win team (which they should be...)
11/30/2008 2:05:39 AM
(said in a few other threads)apparently odd/vague wording in the eligibility rules counts all of clemson's wins as affecting their record after they become eligible with 6 d1 wins or possibly what package said. either of which fucks us regardlesseither way if it does turn out it's us v clemson why wouldn't a bowl pick a state team that's on the rise over a Clemson team with no coach ?.... who follows a team with no coach[Edited on November 30, 2008 at 2:07 AM. 11/30/2008 2:06:11 AM
^^ Clemson is a 6 win team and only one of their FCS wins counts. BUT that gives them more wins than losses 6-5 which puts them ahead of us according to the rules[Edited on November 30, 2008 at 2:06 AM. Reason : a]

Taken from SI.com Stewart Mandel, probably the only person in the country who fully understands how bowl pairings, go on the whole 7-5 wins things
11/30/2008 2:38:26 AM
With the way NCSU has played in the past 3 weeks they deserve every bit of a bowl game. Clemson was ranked what, 8th in the country before being thoroughly owned over and over again, only to fire Bowden?State deserves to be in a bowl game, period. Shit Im actually entertained watching Wilson play. Hes definitely got NFL talent.
11/30/2008 3:05:08 AM
Things that will help us out:Arizona beats Arizona StateRutgers beats LouisvilleAssuming that, and assuming Utah gets a BCS bid and Boise State does not, then two WAC teams that do not get conference tie-in bids will have to get at-large bids first. After that, the rest of the pool is:NC StateLouisville (if they beat Rutgers)Notre DameBowling GreenNorthern IllinoisArkansas StateFlorida AtlanticLouisiana-Lafayette/Middle Tennessee State winnerSan Jose StateWe are AT LEAST the third most attractive team on that list, and I dare say the most attractive, other than that bowl being very close one of the other schools. There are at least 5 bowls with open slots, so I would be SHOCKED if this team, with its traveling fanbase and four-game win streak, stays at home this Christmas...it just wont be to one of the usual suspects (one site has us in the Motor City Bowl vs Ball State).

one of the main guys at packpride says it is either an at-large bid for us or staying home
11/30/2008 11:47:08 AM
we're not getting left out of a bowl
11/30/2008 11:56:47 AM

wouldn't bother me if unc gets in a better bowl than us (as they probably will)41-10
11/30/2008 12:47:30 PM
^^Stop trolling.Your NON-CONFERENCE games were pathetic.ND's ranking/stats/win-loss is slanted because they play possibly the easiest schedule in the land.
11/30/2008 12:51:24 PM
11/30/2008 12:57:52 PM
Notre Dame had a SOS of 36. Hardly the easiest.Look, State whipped us last weekend but the season isn't based on one game. UNC finished 8-4 against the 9th most difficult schedule nationally while State finished 6-6 with an SOS of 3. UNC is 23rd in the Sagarin while State is 45th. Like it or not, UNC should and will go to a better bowl.
11/30/2008 1:17:17 PM
UNC had a pretty similar overall schedule to us as the rankings show. They absolutely deserve to go to a better bowl based on their entire body of work this year. Yes, we are the better team RIGHT NOW, but it's a long season and bowl games should pick according to the entire season. That said, we deserve to go over Clemson. No ifs, ands or buts about it...
11/30/2008 1:21:08 PM
I wish they'd let us play UNC again to decide who deserves the better bowl.
11/30/2008 1:31:10 PM
^^ bowls have never been chosen over the course of the entire season, it's always been what have you done for me lately? Had UNC lost to Duke I would say we deserve a better bowl.UNC deserves a better bowl for the entire season, i'll enjoy watching them get throttled personally.[Edited on November 30, 2008 at 1:36 PM. no he's right it's 36..everyone needs to stop getting their panties in a wad about UNC, they have talent and are a good team and granted they had an easier schedule... I hope both teams get better, then our game may actually mean something.[Edited on November 30, 2008 at 2:03 PM. Reason : .]
