I just ordered the NC10. My buddy got the MSI Wind, but as I read, that keyboard is only 80% vs the 93% on the Samsung. I also didn't think the wind had a 6 cell battery but I guess they do now. Still the NC10 had a 7.5hr life with a couple different review sites. Definitely read up on it before plunging into anything other than the MSI Wind, as it seems those are the two top ones getting high reviews right now.
12/10/2008 5:13:54 PM
goddamnif the NC10 will go down in price a little bit, i'd pick it up in a heartbeat. hell, i'll pay $450+ after xmas for one.looks pretty rad.
12/10/2008 8:44:49 PM
Alright, I have used:Acer One, Eee PC 1000, HP MiniNote, s10, and that offbrand one (forget the name)Looks like The HP MiniNote has the best keyboard and screen, from what I've seen. Everything else about it is supposed to be subpar. It's looking like the NC10 if I can find it on sale.
12/10/2008 9:35:05 PM
To those of you with a NC10: did it come with office pro 2007 installed? That's what it says on the jr.com website.

lenovo s10 - $350

jchill, the NC10 is on amazon for ~479 w/ free saver shipping. That's as cheap as I found it. I even paid more than I should have because I told my boss to place an order through our CDW account. It was not discounted as I'd assumed it would be. [Edited on December 12, 2008 at 2:09 AM. Reason : .]

I'm ordering a netbook on wednesday. Is there a place, locally, where I could test out the nc10?
12/15/2008 5:07:33 AM

12/15/2008 2:25:11 PM
bleh, i want a netbook, but i also want a video card capable of playing high bitrate movies. Thinking about a dell 1330 or something similar. Are any of the netbooks powerful enough to play HD stuff?

I decided on the NC-10. There are just too many reviews saying that it is the best-all-'round to pass it up.Now, like every piece of electronics that I've bought, I will see it become obsolete in 10 months.
12/15/2008 8:55:33 PM
^ I'm satisfied with mine so far. A few gripes, but nothing drastic and the keyboard more than makes up for it. With the exception of the home and end keys being derivatives of Fn and the weird multitouch functions that I haven't quite figured out yet I can pretty much type and browse full speed.it feels so great to just carry this on top of my clipboard and not worry about a bag or charger.

http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=13723It looks like netbooks will get a performance boost in the near future.

3 days til my dell mini9!! I decided on the windows model + extra ram. can't wait. I never decided on a case though. I still haven't seen one that I like.
12/22/2008 12:23:15 PM

12/22/2008 1:20:07 PM

Greetings and merry christmas. I'm posting this from my new Asus 1000 series Eee PC netbook. I upgraded it to 2 GB of RAM and I switched out the 160 GB standard HDD with a 64 GB SSD HDD. I've also installed ubuntu-eee. I'm really happy so far. However, does anyone know how to fucking disable tap-to-click on the touchpad in Ubuntu? I hate tap-to-click.
12/25/2008 10:05:55 PM
my new Wind is on the way, bought a 2GB stick of RAM for it, pretty excitedthis afternoon I'm gonna go buy a N router. I'm pretty stoked.
12/26/2008 12:50:53 PM
yay dell mini!! it came in on xmas eve morning it's a pretty sturdy little thing. i <3 it
12/26/2008 1:45:09 PM
We ordered an MSI Wind for my wife last night from Newegg from $349.99. Should be getting in next week I assume.
12/26/2008 1:48:56 PM
Ok i'm in the netbook market now. Mainly i'm looking for something between 300-400$ and bluetooth is very important. Plus a long battery life. I don't think the Lenovo S10 has bluetooth, which is a must because i want to tether it with my phone for 3g. What other options are there?-although i guess bluetooth isn't a deal breaker because i have a really small usb bt adapter i use with my desktop that would be hardly noticeable on my netbook. ^ The Asus 1000 series has bluetooth and a 6-cell battery. If you're a really savvy shopper, you can find one for less than $400.
12/27/2008 9:26:42 PM
I got my nc10 and I'm absolutely loving it. The battery length is ridiculous. I'm probably going to use it more than my desktop, heh.I can play wow at 15-30 fps, while questing. Sideshow mode in Ogrimmar.

I got windows 7 installed on the NC10. It runs great on just 1GB, my 2GB stick will be coming soon.
1/1/2009 2:35:50 PM
1/1/2009 5:20:12 PM
The NC10 is stellar. It had the best reviews out of all of the netbooks I looked at and the only one that really came close was the MSI Wind. I paid 500 even, but to me the extra 70 bucks was worth it for the crazy battery life and a little bigger keyboard. It's 93% of an original.check out the review I linked a page or two back.
1/1/2009 5:59:30 PM
Alright NC10 it is. I want a black one:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834131015Hotness. I'm really excited about the build quality. That review you posted says it's great.
1/1/2009 6:09:34 PM
The _only_ things wrong with the nc10 are wireless-n and the touchpad is a little small.
1/1/2009 8:51:54 PM
^so it doesn't have wireless n? I heard the touchpad was small but it's a small resolution so it's not a huge deal. I can't wait to get it.
1/3/2009 2:21:57 AM
I thought the touchpad size was going to be an issue for me, but it isn't. I had to disable the gestures though because I kept activating them unintentionally.
1/3/2009 7:45:05 AM
Is there anywhere in Raleigh that carries the NC10? I would like to play with one before i buy it.
1/3/2009 1:33:45 PM
i'm absolutely loving the Wind
1/3/2009 7:00:58 PM
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834131015Blue or white?
1/4/2009 5:08:14 PM
I grabbed blue. Fingerprints don't really bother me.
1/4/2009 5:15:47 PM
So the white is a matte and the blue glossy? Grrr.-oh and what's the included warranty? Should i get the 1 year for $39.99 newegg offers? [Edited on January 4, 2009 at 5:26 PM. Reason : .]
1/4/2009 5:21:15 PM
I don't think it would hurt to go with the warranty. I like the ease of mind, personally. If I hadn't received it as a gift, I would have gotten one for myself.
1/5/2009 11:37:09 AM
Blue.
