i am not a fan of this guy - he doesn't seem too bright.edit: i think he's smart enough to be a slick politician, and i despise the possibility that he could espouse the postions that he does in the name of winning office.i'd rather vote for Romney.[Edited on November 14, 2008 at 12:52 PM. If Jindal is the GOP Obama, the Dems are looking good for the near future. That guy's just lame in every possible way.http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aKyeCP.LGe5s&refer=home
2/25/2009 2:04:24 PM
I can see Jindal gaining traction if he can do something about the perception of extreme religious beliefs. He is a good speaker and comes off as intelligent. And it's funny to me that Bobby is not only not his real name, he picked it based on a TV show.
2/25/2009 2:05:46 PM
You saw the speech last night right? It was weak and he often picked on the exact wrong things.'durrr, yea a volcanic monitoring system is dumb, trust me, i come from Louisiana and we've NEVER had any natural disasters'
2/25/2009 2:27:04 PM
As I understand it last night's speech was uncharacteristically bad for Jindal, but I confess I haven't heard him speak much.Apparently the new GOP grand strategy is to take otherwise likable and straightforward candidates, pack them to the gills with talking points and bullshit, coach them until their speech loses any appealing qualities, and then turn them loose on the public.
2/25/2009 2:37:38 PM
2/25/2009 2:38:23 PM
^^^ nope didn't see the speech last nigh
2/25/2009 2:45:48 PM
well, your not seeing his speech, would explain why you think he's a good speaker.there's no doubt that Jindal *is* a smart guy, but he did lousy.Republicans and conservative pundits across the net are extremely disappointed. Even Fox News' Brit Hume and Juan Williams both were critical.
2/25/2009 4:38:49 PM
Republicans must be desperate to join the minority bandwagon these days following Obama's success.Picking a black guy to be head of the GOP and than picking the first Indian Gov to make the GOP rebuttal last night."Look America we can be racially accepting to"LOL i think this will actually backfire since the GOP relie and needs the racially biased WASP support.
2/25/2009 4:40:40 PM
2/25/2009 4:51:09 PM
^^ I agree, it'll backfire. Or foment more racial tension as the white people freak out that anglo-centric politics are starting to break down.

these GOP douchebags need to focus on quality instead of palying the race card or propping up another folksy retard. they need to pair up some young socially agnostic yet fiscally conservative person with Romney. Romney gets it and knows how to fix shit. guys like McCain don't come around as often as i'd like - and they blew that chance to hell in 2000.i know many of you aren't able to grasp it due to the religion you call "conservatism" - yes, i said religion; but the country is in good hands with this executive branch. it'll just be a matter of curbing the hooliganism that this congress is capable of. the retard-worship and gimmicks of the GOP need to stop, otherwise we'll descend into Liberal led stagflation after Obama is done in 2016. yes, 2016.

^^all i wanna know is what a guy's gotta do to get some term limits in this motherfuckeri bet we could be done with a binary party system within a generation of inserting term limits on congress
2/25/2009 11:40:57 PM
i would love to see congressional term limits, but i doubt the career politicians would cut their own lifeline by passing that amendment
2/25/2009 11:49:39 PM
career politicians....they get to be first against the wall
2/25/2009 11:50:14 PM
i wonder if revoking their pay and making it a civic duty again would deter some of them from hanging around long. Probably not, but it's interesting to think about at least
2/25/2009 11:52:08 PM
REPUBLICAN REVOLUTION 1994republifuckers seriously made "term limits" a plank in their Contract With America. And I bought their shit right up. Even campaigned for the assholes in David Price's own neighborhood.
2/25/2009 11:52:58 PM
I don't think term limits would do much to eliminate party politics. It hasn't helped as far as presidential elections are concerned. That's not to say it wouldn't help eliminate career politicians (assuming you can keep them out of washington) but that's a completely different benefit.[Edited on February 25, 2009 at 11:55 PM. "Republican Revolution" was a catchphrase of the party, not some select subset promising something unique. As to the other part, fine. I defended myself, which I don't think was at all unreasonable given the circumstances. My comments were used in a certain way, and I reacted accordingly.

On the speech, the delivery was bad. The message was mostly good though. The whole super-religion thing is troubling - but the only really religious thing I've noticed in his poltics has been intelligent design.
