I find it odd that the Jewish people who have been persecuted since biblical times aren't going around playing the Jew card. Why is that? Is it because being Jewish is a religious choice?

whoa dude, you just dropped a hard J

I just figured "Race Card" wouldn't work...maybe I should say "Religious Card"?

well its harder to know if someone is jewish that it is to know if their black.but Jews pull the Jew card all the time.

For whatever reason, Jews still face untold bits of hate here on the internet.

I think we are not free of the complaints especially when you can drive around NC and see a bumper sticker that says...Obama 08/Biden 09

said it once and I"ll say it againa black man being president won't advance the black race, personal accountability will.obviously that is something that Celita Hart is about to learn the hard way. as far as modern day black people being oppressed by the white man in the US, that is some bullshit. In the past, sure, it happened. No argument there, can't deny it; but as far as modern day times, I call bullshit. The only time I've seen equal opportunity NOT work is when people can't let go of the past and blame all their problems on someone else instead of *gasp* taking responsibility for their own actions and doing something about it. I'm not trying to bash on the historical significance of Obama getting elected, it is big, but tell me, what action did more for black people - civil right marches (MLK, etc) or Obama getting elected?

You are an idiot

^^Civil rights marches gave blacks opportunity through the passage of legislation. it could be argued that a majority have not taken full advantage of that opportunity. Obama's policies will be much more important than his skin color as far as offering more opportunity. At the end of the day I agree that Obama might "lead the horse to water" but it will be up to individuals to take advantage and the last 45 years since MLK have proven that only a small minority will choose to take advantage and rise above. Just because he is black doesn't mean he is going to only pass laws regarding black people - he wouldn't last long doing that. Whites elected him and are not going to tolerate a leader who only looks out for his own kind.

^ If there are any judges behind the bench that are ANYTHING like you, there's no wonder so many blacks are in jail.

Actually, no, I'm the most defendant-biased person you'll ever find. And if drugs were all decriminalized like I want, much of the black community would be more intact. And possibly all of those things I listed would be less true.

Why? It's true. Blacks with good jobs and incomes still save very little, have fewer solid assets, and are more likely to need a lot of help from Medicare in their old age. Bankruptcy rates are higher as well. Those two are, by definition, "drains on the system."[Edited on November 12, 2008 at 1:19 PM. Reason : a]
