So am I the only one who finds the potential Oregon State Penn State rematch hilarious? Will USC end up in another BCS bowl?
11/24/2008 1:50:35 PM
If USC defeats Notre Dame (6-5) and UCLA (4-6), then they will definitely play in a BCS bowl- It is still possible for them to end up #1 or #2 and play for a national title- If the Beavers go to the Rose Bowl, USC will likely end up in the Fiesta vs. Texas or Oklahoma
11/24/2008 2:02:50 PM
I think it's pretty obvious that the winner of the SEC will be in the championship game.
11/24/2008 2:05:06 PM
unless the winner of that game loses this coming week
11/24/2008 2:30:02 PM
If the BCS bowls went the way I wanted them to, The best matchups would beBCS Championship- USC vs. FloridaRose Bowl- Texas vs Penn StateOrange Bowl - Florida State vs West VirginiaSugar Bowl - Oklahoma vs AlabamaFiesta Bowl - Utah vs. Ohio StateI really wish Utah wasn't in there and we could subsitute someone better but you couldn't add a third Big 12 team (Texas Tech, Oklahoma State), you cant add a third SEC team (Georgia) and you cant even add a third Big 10 team (Michigan State)
11/25/2008 9:21:06 AM
Texas ahead of OU in AP but OU ahead by one point in the USA Today
11/30/2008 3:52:58 PM
While I agree OU looks to be a top 2 team right now, Texas pretty much got shafted
11/30/2008 4:37:41 PM
Texas wins against OU head-to-head but gets left out of the big12 championship....i'd be ticked if i was a texas fan, oh well
11/30/2008 4:38:34 PM
Texas lost to TT(although on a last second play) but Oklahoma destroyed them.
11/30/2008 4:42:45 PM
^ if you know ANYTHING about college football, you know that statement means nothing.
11/30/2008 4:48:17 PM
I bet Texas wishes that they had not tried to man up Crab.
11/30/2008 4:53:54 PM
Reading a Texas message board its funny that oklahoma is now turning the head to head argument around on them saying that texas tech should get the other big 12 BCS berth obviously since they beat Texas head to head
11/30/2008 4:58:26 PM
I think Oklahoma is playing better right now, but I'd put texas ahead based on a neutral field win. I'm so tired of people using TT to compare OU and UT. Head to head is much more important than common opponents.
11/30/2008 5:04:26 PM
head-to-head means about as much as a common opponent. any team can be beaten on a given day.
11/30/2008 5:07:43 PM
Do people honestly not understand how a three way tie break occurs. This head to head stuff doesn't matter with three teams, head to head implies two, why can't Texas fans understand this? Texas also had a mighty tough time beating Ok. State at home this year whereas OU and TT layed a licking on them, OU did it in Stillwater. BTW, when's the last time OU hasn't put up 50 or more. I bet that safety from Texas who dropped that sure INT is feeling pretty good about things.
11/30/2008 5:12:33 PM
true. And going by BCS rankings is just lame.hell, it'd be a cluserfuck in the ACC
11/30/2008 5:21:31 PM
so there is still a possibility of an OU vs. Texas rematch for the national championship?Florida is way behind in points to Texas, and looks like they may need to dominate Alabama in order to jump them Texas the computer's eyes.
11/30/2008 5:24:50 PM
I'm gonna have to ask you to go ahead and check that again. The Gators play in the SEC. The SEC, man. No way the computers wouldn't put a team in the greatest conference in athletics history with the same amount of losses as a team in a less superior conference.I think any SEC team with less than 3 losses should automatically qualify for the NFL in the following season personally...
11/30/2008 5:28:09 PM
I think its hilarious that Texas is still mathematically viable for the NC game[Edited on November 30, 2008 at 5:31 PM. Reason : dur]
11/30/2008 5:31:40 PM
If Florida beats Alabama the polls will put them at #1 so I dont see any way that the SEC winner doesnt get in. The only mystery will occur if Missouri beats Oklahoma in which case you are gonna have a whole lot of one loss teams saying they should be in that game.
12/1/2008 9:52:44 AM
NO you are not.Its simple now.SEC Champion vs. Oklahoma (if they win on saturday) or Texas

what does the nfl have to do w/ the bcs?
12/1/2008 5:06:39 PM
whoosh!
12/1/2008 5:30:19 PM
I hope to hell Ohio State doesn't go to a BCS bowl. They absolutely do not deserve to be in one.
12/1/2008 6:04:43 PM
LIKE IT OR NOTIts going to be:BCS National Championship:Florida vs. OklahomaRose Bowl: USC vs. Penn. StateSugar Bowl: Alabama vs. UtahFiesta Bowl: Ohio State vs. TexasOrange Bowl: Virginia Tech vs. Cincinnati
12/2/2008 11:32:51 AM
12/2/2008 11:39:20 AM
^ I could not agree with you more-Lets at least make these BCS games as exciting as possible if we are not going to have playoffssend USC to Fiesta to play texasbama vs ohio state in sugarva tech vs penn state in rosecinn vs utah in orange
12/2/2008 12:01:09 PM
12/2/2008 1:22:28 PM
^^ haha a non-Pac-10/Big 10 Rose Bowl. *tear*
12/2/2008 1:48:17 PM
as long as cincy plays utahand va tech ohio state im finethat leaves at least 3 solid games with 6 deserving teams left to have to play each other and let the excitement roll
12/2/2008 1:50:46 PM
Texas Tech would probably beat 7 of the 10 BCS teams this year
12/3/2008 8:50:33 AM
Agreed they should definitlely get in over Ohio State, I understand the reasoning behind no 3 schools from one conference for money purposes and all but jesus if you arent gonna give us a playoff at least give us the best teams in the BCS bowls.
12/3/2008 10:09:13 AM
how the hell wants to see the fuckeyes get their asses kicked by another SEC team?
12/3/2008 10:10:50 AM
Could NC State right now beat Utah or Cinn?
12/3/2008 11:09:12 AM
It's asinine that a 2-loss OSU gets in over any undefeated team.
12/3/2008 8:31:20 PM
OSU brings the money though. Thats the same logic we are using to justify NC State going to a bowl over other teams that don't travel as well.Oklahoma has choked in more bowl games than OSU the past few years... why do they get a free pass?
12/3/2008 9:27:29 PM
I dont consider the Boise State/oklahoma fiesta bowl a choke by oklahoma
12/4/2008 9:11:04 AM
Well they have only one 3 point win in the past 5 bowl games appearances. 2 out of the past 5 bowl games, they got their asses handed to them. Fiesta Bowl 2008/01/02 Oklahoma 28 - West Virginia 48 - L - CHOKEFiesta Bowl 2007/01/01 Oklahoma 42 - Boise St 43 - LHoliday Bowl 2005/12/29 Oklahoma 17 - Oregon 14 - WOrange Bowl 2005/01/04 Oklahoma 19 - USC 55 - L - CHOKESugar Bowl 2004/01/04 Oklahoma 14 - LSU 21 - L
12/4/2008 9:46:21 PM
I wouldnt consider the 05 game vs USC a choke either. They played the BEST USC team in USC history
12/5/2008 9:21:46 AM
I'm sorry but anyone who says Florida is #1 over oklahoma tomorrow in the polls didnt watch any of the games the past 5 weeks or so. Oklahoma has by far pushed to the head of the pack, arguably the best offense ever in college football history. Florida may have a tad better defense but that is far outweighed by oklahomas offense.
12/6/2008 9:52:25 PM
http://bcsguru.com/Looks like the final game of the year tonight between Cincy and Hawaii may actually make a difference in the final BCS standings depending on exactly what the pollsters do.
12/6/2008 10:14:02 PM
Since head to head obviously doesn't matter with Oklahoma, why should it with Alabama. They lost to a better team then Florida did. So if we are just going to ignore head to head it should be...Alabama and OklahomaBut if head to head is important (which it should be)Texas and FloridaI want Texas and Florida so I can root for somebody. I don't think I can root for Florida or Oklahoma. Looks like I am out of luck though.
12/6/2008 10:15:04 PM
Oklahoma is in pending some massive meltdown, it comes down to Texas and Florida for the last spot. Florida has the worse loss of the 2 and Texas has the best win (over what should be a #1 oklahoma). My guess is that to make sure florida gets in you are gonna see many voters who voted texas 2 or 3 last week drop them to 6 or 7 simply to make sure we get the florida oklahoma game, kinda shitty for texas but thats what happens when you let people make decisions on this stuff rather than playing it on the field.
12/6/2008 10:17:36 PM
12/6/2008 10:21:13 PM
superior defense at the beginning of the season, the OU defense has looked much better at the end of the year here. Floridas offense has looked stoppable at times, Oklahoma has looked completely unstoppable pretty much the entire season. Id love to see the OU offense go up against the USC defense now that would be interesting to watch.
12/6/2008 10:24:30 PM
So the BCS is going to pit the two best teams against each other...which happens most of the time. It's not THAT flawed of a system.
12/6/2008 10:42:47 PM
Im pretty sure the number of years it has been under heavy scrutiny is much greater than the years it got it right. It really only gets it right when things just happen to work out really nice. This year it may get it "right" but the problem is every year there are several teams that have a pretty valid argument who get left out.
12/6/2008 10:46:20 PM
Cannot get in unless you win your conference. precedent: Michigan vs. Florida a few years ago. Therefore, Texas is out.
12/6/2008 10:49:03 PM
Bad news, its happened before so throw that argument out the window.
