I was truly surprised at my polling place because there were actually a ton of people there, but they had way more volunteers than I was expecting and the lines moved really really fast. Usually the line for names is broken down into 3-4 groups, this place was every two letters had their own line. And most places are really strict about only voting in one of the 9 little booths they have setup, but this place said as long as you felt enough privacy, vote where you want. People had the bleachers pulled out and some people even sat on the floor. It looked like a giant mess, but it ran really efficiently and quickly at least while I was there.

11/4/2008 11:57:44 AM
people at work were talking about 1 hour lines. I literally just walked in and voted a minute ago. Guess the pre-lunch crowd is small.
11/4/2008 12:03:38 PM
The line this morning was pretty long because it was the pre-work, pre-get the kiddies to school (yes they had school here in Alamance County) crowd but I would imagine that 10-noon and then 2-5 would be pretty light.
11/4/2008 12:06:34 PM

Just got back from voting at Combs Elementary. No line whatsoever, more than half the booths were empty. But I'm very excited because I got exit polled/interviewed. I intend to scan the paper tomorrow for anything written by Emery Dalesio of the associated press in hopes that my childlike, overexcited rambling will appear.
11/4/2008 12:51:30 PM
I've always wanted to be exit polled.Let us know too if you DO happen to appear in the paper. And you should have plugged TWW somehow.[Edited on November 4, 2008 at 1:10 PM. Reason : ]

I got (yet another) call from the Obama campaign asking whom I voted for but I don't know if that counts as an exit poll.
11/4/2008 1:12:56 PM
only was a line for me cuz i went in the morning before work. passed there on way here for lunch and there was no line.

NC had their shit together. Something like 40% of voters voted early, so even with record turnout it should still be less traffic than usual.
11/4/2008 1:28:54 PM
I was in and out very quickly this afternoon in wilson.NC does have their shit together.

Voted this morning in Cary. 10 minutes. I found it sketchy that they didn't ask for my ID or anything. Just "State your full name and address". The name I gave them was different than the one on their paper (an extra middle name not on my license) and they didn't care.
11/4/2008 2:15:09 PM
^they aren't supposed to ask for your license
