except pelosi is qualified to (and has shown to) hold a position of power in the federal gov't

Whoa whoa whoa...just slow the shit down here for a second...qualified?

She meets the requirements to be a representative as held forth in the Constitution and by the bylaws of the US House of Representatives. Sure she's "qualified".She's damn near the Sarah Palin of the left, but she's legally qualified.

I would consider someone like Cynthia McKinney to be the Sarah Palin of the left.
11/19/2010 9:11:53 AM
Cynthia McKinney is more the Renee Ellmers of the left.Sarah Palin and Nancy Pelosi are both moderately savvy politicians when dealing with their fanatically supportive base, but simply do not comprehend how to deal with anyone who opposes them. Neither one is a complete idiot, but both are prone to asinine / borderline idioic statements from time to time.Just m2c

it's fucking idiotic to equate pelosi's decades of experience with palin's tenure as media personality and disgraced ex-governor.have you ever actually listened to palin talk to a reporter or the congress? she actually knows what in the hell she's talking about unlike palin.i really find it staggering that one would compare the two. are they both polarizing figures? sure. but one is polarizing because she has accomplished more than any other female (and almost any other person period) in the congress and is liberal. and the other is polarizing because she's a fucking trainwreck and was almost VP and wants to be our next president.[Edited on November 19, 2010 at 5:47 PM. Forget about Sarah Palin. The obvious comparison is Newt Gingrich. Newt, much like Pelosi, was a party loyalist and very effective at rallying the base. He served successfully as whip before taking over as Speaker during the '94 Republican revolution. By '97, he was personally unpopular, and there were rumblings of a power struggle behind the scenes. After a disappointing election in '98 (the Republicans lost 5 seats in the house, a far cry from the 60 seats the Dems lost 2 weeks ago), Newt stepped aside because although he had accomplished a lot as speaker, he was no longer the best leader of the House Republicans due to his negative approval ratings. His approval ratings at the time were around 45%, nearly double the 24% approval ratings that Pelosi currently enjoys. Pelosi would do well to learn from Newt and realize that she isn't bigger than the party. As it is, she is a slave to her ambitions and refuses to face the reality that she is hurting her own party.Enough of the bullshit about how they hate her because she has been effective. Most people hate her because he has a cunt-like personality and leadership style that rubs many the wrong way, much like Newt's extremely unfavorable personal appeal and perceived petty politics (shutting down the Govt over a snub in Air Force One, anyone?). You can try to blame it on sexism all you want, but the hatred of Pelosi is no different from the hatred of Newt because he's a dweeb or Romney because he's slimy. There are plenty of effective and popular women in politics; Pelosi just isn't one of them.[Edited on November 19, 2010 at 8:24 PM. Reason : 2]

I have never heard Claire McCaskill, Dianne Feinstein, Mary Landrieu, Patty Murray or any of the other long-time Senate democrat women referred to as power-hungry bitches. Barbara Boxer probably suffers from sexism due to her radical liberalism and in-your-face legislative style. Meg Whitman and Sharron Angle were alternately referred to as whores and bitches... by liberal women. Maybe you could make the case that Jerry Brown's wife and Joy Behar are sexists...[Edited on November 19, 2010 at 8:56 PM. Reason : 2]

why resort to sexism first when criticizing pelosi, then? people talk about her personality as if she's some repugnant person. i've seen very little evidence of that. is she tough politically? yes. but that's her damn job.
