I wasn't at all surprised by the Obama and Hagan wins. I was, however, surprised by the McCrory loss--I mean, people must have just not been watching the same debates and examining the same candidates that I was.McCrory kicked Perdue's ass all across this state. But he obviously didn't on Election Day--the only day that counts for politicians.
11/6/2008 2:41:53 AM
McCrory, wish that mofo would have won. we got rid of one vapid cunt (dole) but elected another to Gov. WTF
11/6/2008 3:41:59 AM
it was the fucking straight ticket voters that did him in.Dems - 59% straight ticket votingReps - 40% straight ticket voting
11/6/2008 7:18:09 AM
So what would it take to get the straight ticket option off the ballot? We could call it the Bev Perdue bill.
11/6/2008 7:33:28 AM
^^^^ yep. I dont see how anyone with a brain could vote for her (and I am not even a huge McCrory fan)And I also agree straight ticket voting is stupid. Honestly, Id love for them to not even list the party they are affiliated with on the ticket so that people who don't put the effort into studying them beforehand can't simply vote by party but I know a lot of people wouldn't go for that. But its frustrating to see people go into the polls only to vote for Obama and in the process cast a vote for someone like her just because they did straight ticket. Well its frustrating to see that on either side honestly, but I used Obama here since I see that as the cause for the McCrory loss.[Edited on November 6, 2008 at 7:53 AM. Reason : ]

So does anyone here actually know someone that voted Perdue? I don't. Then again it'd have a hard time keeping the kind of person that would support Perdue in my social circle.
11/6/2008 7:51:49 AM
^ unfortunately, my wife did.
11/6/2008 9:21:57 AM
i just listened to an interview with Perduewhat a fucking retard"I am change""I am a woman"two notable quotables...
11/6/2008 10:38:23 AM
FYI:Women now the majority on NC Council of State
11/6/2008 10:47:29 AM
I voted for McCrory, but my wife may have gone for Perdue - not sure, we never talked about it. She is a HS teacher, though, and I would imagine that most of the talk in the teacher's circles would be for Perdue
11/6/2008 10:52:08 AM
^ Yep. If you're in education and you weren't for Perdue, you'd probably be considered a heretic.
11/6/2008 10:55:43 AM
so if NC goes to shit, we can blame women?

This was ridiculous....did the people that voted for McCain note vote for McCrory too? How did McCain get more votes than McCrory? He was easily the best candidate for governor. I know a bunch of Dems that voted for McCrory.Or do people believe those dumb old men on the rockers talking politics?
11/6/2008 12:55:02 PM
http://www.wral.com/news/local/politics/story/3904052/Some pretty telling stats on how Perdue won.
11/6/2008 2:15:35 PM
^^A lot of people voted for Munger. If everyone who voted for Munger had voted for McCroy, I believe he would have won (at least the last time I checked).
11/6/2008 2:27:00 PM
i'm a democrat and i voted for mccrory, pretty shocked he didn't win
11/6/2008 2:52:52 PM
this is the one race that really disappointed me
11/6/2008 3:00:47 PM
^^^ if everyone who had voted for barr had voted for mccain he wouldve won as well. or if eveyrone who had voted for barr had voted for obama he wouldve won by more.
11/6/2008 3:02:16 PM
^That's not true (the first half of your statement)... And if you had read the thread, you would realize I was only answering his question on why more people voted for McCain than McCrory. I liked Munger, I'm certainly not blaming him, or the people that voted for him for Perdue winning.
11/6/2008 3:17:43 PM

Yeah, that's what I thought, it was really close last time I had checked. I really wish this had actually been a race between Munger and McCrory.
11/6/2008 3:20:14 PM

Rather than create a new thread on a worthless topic, I just posted in the first open Perdue thread I found. Maybe this has been covered here...What was up with Bev Perdue declaring a state of emergency with that snow we had a week or so ago? Maybe that is the standard procedure for NC, I don't know. Seems kinda ridiculous to me. No credible threat of power outages due to ice. Guaranteed gone in 2 days thanks to forecast highs in the 50s.Maybe my definition of "state of emergency" is off kilter. I always thought it was reserved for things like dealing with the wake from floods, hurricanes, and large tornadoes.

I could live with Obama wining, and I was glad that Hagan won...but when McCrory lost I near about cried. We basically elected a piece of furniture to be governor. An ottoman, perhaps.

So the question is are those numbers (the 40%):1)the percent of registered republicans who voted straight ticket republican2)the percent of registered republicans who voted straight ticket for either party3)the percent of all registered voters (D, R, L, I) who voted straight ticket republicanThe post is very unclear, and the difference between the three is enough to change the way one could analyze the results.

I bet if Jesus Christ was running for NC govenor he would lose the election to Adolf Hitler if Jesus was from Charlotte or some other area of Western NC.
