this is setting up to be a great finish to the season. It looks like Miguel has been playing Dexter the whole time, maybe going to eventually set him up. I wonder when he figured it out? Does Miguel know that Dexter killed his brother? Does Miguel know that Dexter is the Bay Harbor Butcher? Are Miguel and King linked? The whole King/Skinner story is kind of weak and not entirely interesting or believable without some kind of greater motivation than "Freebo owes me some money so now i'm going to torture and kill 5 people". I wonder if Miguel will turn out to be some kind of criminal mastermind, or if he is directing King somehow.
11/26/2008 10:59:25 AM
^ya know i was wondering the same thing. i don't understand how Freebo owed King money, so now he's killing random people. of course, at first he was killing people that were in some way connected to Freebo, but now it's just random as hell and kinda suspicious. there's gotta be more motivation behind it than that.
11/26/2008 12:43:20 PM
^i agree. i hope there's a lot more the whole skinner thing. so far it's been lame and hasn't kept me very interested.i also agree that this season is better than last season. i think that's because i too could not care less ab lila.
11/26/2008 12:57:12 PM
Who has the skinner killed that wasn't somehow linked to Freebo? He killed Freebo's girl, the black kid that was Freebo's watchout, and then he tried to kill Anton, after it was released that he knew where Freebo was.[Edited on November 26, 2008 at 1:44 PM. Reason : ]
11/26/2008 1:31:41 PM
^that may be true, but the whole scenario is just weird. why would this guy start skinning/killing other random Freebo contacts? it's not like it'll get back at Freebo, and it's not like it'll make Freebo pay the man what he's owed (even if Freebo were still alive). is the Skinner just a weird guy who likes to kill? the whole situation doesn't really make sense to me.[Edited on November 27, 2008 at 10:44 AM. this shit is pretty transparent..Miguel is the mastermind behind this shit. He's deep in the drug business. He probably ordered his little brother to kill freebo, freebo was too much of a risk or encroaching on his territory. Unless the writers throw in some crazy twist... which they wont because the last two seasons it was kinda obvious of the killers where and what was going on.... this shit is pretty easy to predict. Nonethelss this is still a good show.
11/27/2008 8:20:32 PM
Well, my husband called it - the Skinner was put on the Freebo Mission by none other than Miguel Prado. And now Miguel has the Skinner going after Dexter. I hate it when he's right! What a great episode!!!

OH SHIT, SON!
12/1/2008 7:49:39 AM
I dont want to actually read this thread since Im not caught up yet but I really love this show. Something about it just keeps me wanting to watch more - and thats actually pretty rare for me as I am not a big tv show fan.

It these guys were robots sent from the future next week is gonna be all T2 and shit.

masuka=O
12/1/2008 4:27:55 PM
wait, you think the skinner was in league with miguel from the start? But remember when Miguel went in to talk to the skinner and turned off the video cams and they still had to let the skinner go.... that's probly when he was getting him under his thumb...
12/2/2008 12:32:08 PM
^Right, that makes more sense. The Skinner started skinning/killing on his own, and then Miguel went in there while he was in custody and turned off the cameras, got the Skinner under his thumb so to speak, and let him go. Then Miguel called in the favor about Dexter.[Edited on December 2, 2008 at 12:39 PM. Reason : /]

I had figured they were in on it together once Miguel's bro was killed. There is only so much Miguel could do as a public figure and not look like an ass like his other brother, so he hired someone to do his dirty work for him.
12/2/2008 2:00:23 PM
^See, that's what I initially thought. That Miguel knew this Skinner guy would go after all of Freebo's contacts in order to find Freebo, so Miguel hired him. But then, once Miguel knew Freebo was dead, it doesn't make sense that he'd let the Skinner keep on skinning Freebo's contacts when he already knew Freebo's fate and had nothing else to find out. So I'm more apt to believe that Skinner and Miguel weren't allies until that moment in the station when Miguel went into the interview room and turned off the cameras.

Yay, now that True Blood is over, I can watch Dexter on Sunday nights when it originally airs
12/7/2008 3:26:32 PM
I can't believe you picked True Blood over Dexter in the first place
12/7/2008 3:53:51 PM
It was only in the last 3 weeks that I chose True Blood over Dexter. I just started to look forward to True Blood more. But I still ended up watching Dexter when I got home from work on Monday (on Demand).[Edited on December 7, 2008 at 7:29 PM. Reason : t-minus 90 minutos]
12/7/2008 7:28:57 PM
Really, you were looking forward to True Blood more? Now, having stopped watching True Blood after the 5th episode or so, therefore not knowing exactly how intense the final episodes were, I can still say that I think that is dumb.
12/7/2008 8:38:39 PM
Dexter is better than True Blood, but the last 2 episodes of True Blood were pretty good.
12/7/2008 9:29:02 PM
^that's why i wanted to watch True Blood over the last few weeks. each episode just kept ending with such cliff-hangers, i couldn't help but want to know what was going on. then of course, last week was the season finale, so i chose that over Dexter for obvious reasons.i just started reading the True Blood book last week. so far it follows it, spot-on. pretty awesome actually!oh, and can i just say that the first 5 minutes of Dexter tonight....WTF MAN?!!?! way to fake someone out! i hate you Dexter writers!!![Edited on December 7, 2008 at 9:35 PM. 12/7/2008 9:34:06 PM
Really?You do?
12/7/2008 9:54:01 PM
Good stuff, even though I knew this outcome was inevitable I still enjoyed it. I could do without the Deb relationship drama stuff again, but other than that I'm still loving this show
12/7/2008 10:11:30 PM
^yea, that's getting old, but i can understand how they wanted a few other minor plotlines to go along with the major one.i'm curious....****SPOILER****how was dexter able to shroud maria's house and kill miguel in the living room? where the hell was maria??? also, what's with the storyline of miguel's brother following him around? or, was miguel supposed to be ramon's "guardian" since he got in so much trouble?
12/7/2008 10:18:38 PM
Was it Maria's house?
12/7/2008 10:34:17 PM
I just assumed it was her house, since that's where Miguel was when Dexter showed up at the front door and injected the sleepy stuff into his veins.
12/7/2008 10:58:38 PM
I don't think it was Maria's house, but then I don't know where it would be if it wasn't there...I hope Dexter remembers to trim some palm trees.Oh yeah, and my prediction for part of next season-- so Deb is looking into who the CI was who had sex w/ her dad... she finds out it was Dexter's mom, discovers dexter had a brother.... discovers who the brother is....Also, she's getting better at being a detective, she'll probably piece together some clues about the skinner and Miguel and figure out Dexter's secret...
12/7/2008 11:25:53 PM
12/7/2008 11:28:13 PM
12/8/2008 9:10:18 AM
Okay one thing I'm confused about. Dexter said he was going to kill Prado just like the tree trimmer. But he didn't do any of the things the trimmer does, did he kill Prado using the same method Prado used to kill Ellen? That would make more sense with you guys saying that his body is found in the graveyard. Dexter would be getting rid of Prado while at the same time clearing Prado's name in the Ellen murder, almost as an apology for killing his brother.

^^ i mean it makes sense. normally unless there a reason dexter usually picks out werehouses and not houses
12/8/2008 6:05:41 PM
Miguel's brother was blackout drunk thanks to...Miguel.
12/8/2008 8:53:58 PM
I hate it when, in cop shows, the witnesses say dumb, completely unrealistic things that are later used as crucial links. like when Anton was talking to Deb..... Anton: "he took everything, man, everything! my watch, my cell phone, even the change out of my pocket"Deb: "even the change out of pocket!? Oh no, i can't believe it! what a cold hearted bastard!"Anton: "I KNOW, EVEN THE CHANGE OUT OF MY POCKET! PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT I'M SAYING BECAUSE THIS IS GOING TO BE IMPORTANT LATER ON!"
12/8/2008 11:18:08 PM
"Seriously guy? You cuttin' a nigga's skin off while he's tied to a chair, but then you gotta go and steal a nigga's change? Oh hell nah!"
12/9/2008 7:59:03 AM
12/9/2008 8:26:58 AM
dont forget he has to find and kill the skinner too, who is also looking for him
12/9/2008 9:14:23 AM
I predict Deb gets to the Skinner first.
12/9/2008 9:37:18 AM
Ramon is gonna fuck all kinds of shit up.And then be dead.
12/9/2008 10:32:35 AM
12/9/2008 1:24:56 PM
12/9/2008 1:44:22 PM
Who says he knew that?Maybe he went there anyway, figuring if Laguerta was there he was just showing up to talk to her about the under the table deal they had, thus intervening in Miguel's plot. The kill wasn't at her house, so I imagine after sedating Miguel, Dexter didn't stick around for too long.
12/9/2008 2:47:57 PM
Also Dexter left her a message on the answering machine and said he would call her cell and was supposed to meet her like an hour before Miguel was there snooping around. Probably has something to do with that.[Edited on December 9, 2008 at 2:53 PM. Reason : pretty much what ^ said]

ok I can finally read this thread... I just spent the last week and a half catching up on all 3 seasons so I wanted to give my opinion as somebody who has watched all 3 seasons in like two weeks back-to-back-to-backS1 was the shit, but S2 was so bad, it made me want to stop watching. S3 is better but mostly because it doesn't have that annoying fuck Lila who I felt like punching every time she opened her mouth. Plus, the entire season I knew Doakes would end up dying somehow and I thought he was awesome... so that was annoying as wellI just don't think this show can ever get close to the level of S1 again, especially if Dexter is married and has a kid of his own. Season 3 hasn't been all that great, not enough kills or twists or anything terribly surprising but not bordering on unwatchable like S2. I'm still definitely going to watch the next season but hopefully the last episode throws out something crazy to make me a little more excited for itoh and Masuka ftw, he is hilarious
12/9/2008 6:24:15 PM
season one follows the first dexter book exactly until the very end. the book ends totally different, thus the show takes a different paththe first season was probably so good because it was based on and essentially stuck to the book exactlyand we all know "the book is always better" loli still need to watch ep 11. i knew miguel would get chopped by dex so it wasnt a spoiler to see it in this thread. looking forward to the season finale though!!
12/9/2008 7:12:41 PM
it's over good episode, but it didn't leave me feeling as eager for next season as some of the last few episodes have left me eager for the next episode. does that make sense?
12/14/2008 10:25:30 PM
definitely, I felt the same way
