Some of the top selling games on the Wii are 16bit sprite based games. Does anyone else think that Nintendo should put some more capital in this market, and start pumping out some more 16 bit titles. http://news.vgchartz.com/news.php?id=2162
10/1/2008 9:39:35 PM
this game is hard as balls.
10/2/2008 2:50:34 AM
Yeah...and nowhere to put in Game Genie codes .
10/2/2008 4:18:16 AM
^^^The fact they're 16/8-bit has nothing to do with it. They're just really good games.
10/2/2008 11:20:48 AM
^^^It doesn't get hard till Wily's castle. Then even then you just need to figure out what powerup to use.[Edited on October 2, 2008 at 11:35 AM. Reason : it's about on par with the NES megamans. ]
10/2/2008 11:33:36 AM
This game is pretty punishing. Mega Man 1 was pretty hard, but 2 and 3 weren't too hard IMO. Unlike with previous Mega Mans, where I practically memorized them in Nintendo Power before getting the game for Christmas, I'm playing this game with no idea what's coming. So it's a good deal tougher. And the stages are tough. I had to attempt most of them 3-5 times so far. One mistake sinks you in most parts. Or maybe it's just that my platforming skills have gotten rusty
10/2/2008 11:52:14 AM
^^^well yeah, the Mega Man NES series is my favorite series, so I SHOULD be all over this messbut I don't know how to work the wii really - I'm just borrowing it and have never connected it to the internets

i've played the game through to death at this point, so here are some tips for people who are having trouble:-Remember the Magma Bazooka can be charged, the Hornet Chaser grabs powerups for you, the Jewel Shield reflects bullets from Mets and Sniper Joes and disappears if you pause the game, the Concrete Shot will freeze the magma pillars, the Laser Trident goe through shields and enemies, and the Tornado Blow will let you jump higher than usual.Mega Buster= 1 hp damageLaser Trident, Plug Ball = 2 hp damageMagma Bazooka = 1 to 3 depending on if you connect all 3 flames, 2 to 6 if it is chargedHornet Chaser = 1 hp damageTornado Blow = instant kill, or 4 hp damageConcrete Shot = 4 hp damage, or instant kill on medium sized enemiesJewel Shield = 2 hp damage, kills all 1 hp enemies in one shotBlack Hole Bomb = 4 hp damageSTAGESGalaxy Man= if you can time it right, the helibots during the flat stretch with spikes can make that section go alot faster if you time your jumpsSplash Woman= on the part of the stage with the moving platforms, the 3rd screen is easiest completed if you use Rush Coil on the rightmost side of the platform and grab the 3rd platform coming from the rightJewel Man= Laser Trident works wonders here dispatching the floating green spike bots along with anything behind it. Plug Ball also works well for the cannons and stone carts in the first part. Concrete Shot kills the cart enemies in one hit, so keep that in mind for the section with them and the pit bots after the minibossMagma Man= Concrete Shot freezes the pillars. The dragon goes down quick if you use Black Hole Bomb. If you have the Jewel Shield and the Energy Balancer, the section after the miniboss with the Tellies is a great place to get energy.Tornado Man= DO THIS STAGE AFTER COMPLETING 5 OTHERS. You will unlock Rush Jet, which will make your life MUCH easier. In the beginning, after climbing the ladders to the top, run all the way to the right. Don't use the spinning platforms. Ride Rush up towards the top and jump off of him when you see a platform. You want to save this energy for later. Drop down the bit, past the two mobile shields and the Sniper Joes, and into the first rain section. Use the Jewel Shield to kill the umbrellas and work your way towards another spinning platform. Use the rest of the Rush Jet's energy here. This makes this tough level considerably easier.Concrete Man= Jewel Shield, Plug Balls, and Laser Trident makes this level a piece of cake. Use the Jewel Shield in the beginning, Plug Ball for all the cannon enemies, and Laser Trident for the elephants.Plug Man= Jewel Shield will kill every enemy in this level, including the sparks that stick on the platforms and the mega man clones. The only exceptions are the lone cannon and the Mets. Having Jewel Shield alone makes this level very simple, and the part at the end with the extra life and the Tellies is a great place to recharge your energy for Plug Man.Hornet Man= Don't use Laser Trident on the section with the platforms you have to shoot over the spikes. It will pass through the platforms and activate ones ahead that you weren't ready to activate. Go the upper level, unless you want the screws. At the very end, make a blind leap off the platform and the scissor enemy dives before it has a chance to hurt you. For the miniboss, Tornado Blow is the easiest way by far to defeat it quickly, but other than that use Laser Trident.Wily 1= Magma Bazooka can take out the fire dragon miniboss in 2 hits. One charged, and the other uncharged, but you have to make all the flames hit. The boss is easy if you work in pairs; do the bottom 2, and once the top 2 move their spike balls to the end and back, go up there. At this point, they'll start shooting homing lasers which are easy to dodge as long as you work in pairs. It isn't hard to win this fight with no damage.Wily 2= Use Tornado Blow on screen 1, Rush Coil on screen 2, Jewel Shield on screen 3 and any other screen with the robots that make fake platforms. Shock Guards are invaluable for the underwater section. Stick to the top path underwater. Use Laser Trident on the boss to kill him quickly.Wily 3=In the second section where you are pulling upward, on the screen with the M tank, shoot so you go as fast as you can to the left, pause, and activate the Jewel Satellite to kill the helibot. The boss is easy once you learn the pattern. The first 3 blocks the boss fires go right over your head. Jump over the next 2 pairs. After he fires 3 more, the fourth one will be the eye. Use Black Hole Bomb, pause, and hit him with it again before he goes back into the goo. He will fire another block that goes over your head, then a pair where if you stay on the edge of the platform the first one will go over you and you jump the 2nd, then a pair where you jump both, and then a pair where you jump the first and let the other one go over you. Then it ends and the pattern repeats.Wily 4= 1/2 damage guard works well here, as well as any m-tanks. Wily's first form is easily defeated if you only fire at the eggs first when he's going backwards, then jump and fire once more, and then for the third hit, get on GROUND LEVEL and shoot it when it's on GROUND LEVEL. this is because wily is coming back at you and the egg will always hit the right spot. For the 2nd form, use Concrete Shot. Jump the flame arc at the last second to dodge them all. For the 3rd form, use Plug Balls, if he fires the purple shit, stand a little ways from the edge of the screen, walk towards it, and jump. If he fires the sparks, run in one direction and then jump backward to dodge them all.

I think it's funny that they removed the slide and charging the Mega Buster in the spirit of being "retro", but threw in a shop, which didn't appear until Mega Man 7 IIRC.
10/3/2008 3:07:21 PM
^ Yeah, I found that kinda funny too.
10/3/2008 4:21:47 PM
^^ I think they made up for it by having Proto Man charge and slide, plus the shield.
10/3/2008 6:55:37 PM
god i suck at this
10/3/2008 8:26:23 PM
I finally beat it! W00T05:41:00]
10/10/2008 5:16:00 PM
i still suck at this, but beat a few more stages at least. i was never a huge megaman whore, but it really does feel like a challege without being frustrating. i was doing it without the shop which was my problem. im not great so having 1 or two more lives or an energy tank is nice. having a few extra lives gives you a sense of accomplishment without feeling like ur cheating the system too much too.
10/10/2008 9:23:27 PM
i need to find more time to play. i have still only beat Galaxy Man.
10/12/2008 7:59:46 PM
it gets much easier when u get back in the game.i had only beat splash bitch for a while, then galaxy man. after that i easily got to magma (couldnt beat at that point), jewel, and plug, and tornado. concrete was a bit harder for me for some reason and i still havent gotten to hornet lame-o.[Edited on October 12, 2008 at 8:10 PM. Reason : still suck tho]
10/12/2008 8:10:47 PM
beat all the original bosses today, fuck concrete man.
10/12/2008 9:26:59 PM
as simple as what he does is, he still manages to be a pain in the ass
10/12/2008 9:33:15 PM
i'm horrible at thisGET SOME PLATFORM SHOES MEGA MAN
10/12/2008 9:54:59 PM
once you've learned each stage's pattern they become a lot easier. For the most part the stages are more difficult than the boss.
10/12/2008 10:04:05 PM
10/12/2008 10:06:22 PM
^ try getting close enough to the pit to spawn the enemy, shoot it, and then jump over. or use the jewel satellite if you have it
10/13/2008 1:06:12 AM
plz to emulate
10/13/2008 2:31:07 PM
got to wily 3 and gave up, fucking blob is hard
10/14/2008 2:16:54 AM
damn I can't wait to play this game finally
10/14/2008 6:41:08 AM
just beat it... 3:02:41
10/17/2008 2:52:35 PM
^^^ the blob has a pattern, once it gets through the first row, shoot a gravity thing in front of it so you can focus on dodging the others while he flies through it.
10/17/2008 2:53:42 PM
I am going to get this shit in a few days, I am excited
10/19/2008 12:18:34 AM
I'm enjoying it so far, but I've only beaten one bossit's kinda hard compared to the older ones
10/23/2008 4:37:47 PM
^ Is it galaxy man? Everybody kills him off first for some reason.
10/23/2008 5:51:30 PM
yeah it was galaxy man, LOL I've since defeated Concrete Man and Splash Woman, all with the Mega Buster
10/23/2008 6:42:38 PM
lol that sucks, you're back where you began because you use the trident to beat concrete man, hint: jewel man next
10/24/2008 2:43:07 AM
hint: Don't go after Tornado Man until you've defeated 5 other bosses
10/24/2008 4:57:37 PM
you really dont need the jet for it. the stage itself isnt that hard, just requires a few tries (as with most of the levels).
10/24/2008 8:45:45 PM
i died like 8 times at the one part with the wind and the platforms
10/24/2008 10:01:21 PM
really? i found that easier than some of the other platforming sections. dont know why i can do that but not other shit. i cant get through wily's
10/24/2008 10:30:10 PM
Will nothing bridge the gap between Mega Man and Mega Man X??
10/25/2008 4:35:57 AM
who caresthe original series > Mega Man X is all you need to knowand Mega Man 9 is no exception
10/26/2008 7:29:17 AM
is there any way to stretch out the screen on Mega Man 9? it has black on both sides when I play it, and it's hard to see it on smaller TVs because he looks kind of smooshed
11/7/2008 3:55:44 AM
Finally beat Splash Woman! I have a second weapon now!
11/7/2008 8:44:01 AM
I was able to beat all the bosses with the Mega Buster
11/7/2008 10:48:46 AM
I had to when I was playing wily's castle through one of the first times when you have to re beat all the bosses, and I didn't have any weapon energy or tanks left.
11/7/2008 1:20:02 PM
i gave up on wily's castle cuz im not overly good. i was farming screws for a bit to get a few energy and mystery tanks, but got bored doing that. i should give it another shot i guess.
