This shit is bonkers.

Whenever Nadal has too much time to set up for a shot on a major point he always makes the wrong choice, unforced error, or sets up roger to blow it by him.
7/6/2008 2:32:45 PM
nadal should kill himself if he doesnt win.
7/6/2008 2:37:45 PM
I wouldn't call losing to the #1 player at his best surface a cause for suicide. He's only lost serve once the whole match. It's not like he hasn't been trying.
7/6/2008 2:42:08 PM
Which is exactly why it would be a monumental choke
7/6/2008 2:46:56 PM
if federer wins this.....greatest ever no more debate i dont even care if he doesn't catch sampras
7/6/2008 2:47:00 PM
i don't know why, but i fucking hate nadal
7/6/2008 2:53:53 PM
it's because of his silly pants
7/6/2008 2:54:40 PM
get a retractable roof already
7/6/2008 2:55:01 PM
wow, r fed blew that opportunity to be up a game going into that delay
7/6/2008 2:55:37 PM
^no, nadal had some momentum cause fed's serve was tiringits good to come out and have serve, nadal being rusty SHOULD give federer two quick serve points and some quick momentum... but we'll see
7/6/2008 3:19:55 PM
CHA CHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ace, ace
7/6/2008 3:24:42 PM
Im really mad that I didn't catch more of this match.. I flipped off during the rain delay and forgot to check for the restart. This could get crazy.
7/6/2008 4:02:57 PM
These guys are both incredible.Federer is a machine but Nadal just has too much resolve.[Edited on July 6, 2008 at 4:09 PM. Reason : a]
7/6/2008 4:08:52 PM
Nadal has been on fire the past 2 games and I think he's about to put it away on his serve
7/6/2008 4:10:04 PM
Brings me back to the Sampras/Agassi rivalry
7/6/2008 4:23:40 PM
^Except for the fact that neither is American. Great match today, most enjoyable to watch in quite a while.
7/6/2008 4:27:28 PM
Thats exactly what I was thinking watching these 2 guys. Nadal with the great baseline / return game as well as playing style and emotion like Agassi, Federer with the dominant serve and technical proficiency like Sampras.
7/6/2008 4:29:11 PM
"fading light" <closeup of Federer>
7/6/2008 4:30:10 PM
well federer will prob win the US, tying sampras at 13 so he should be able to break the record somewhat easily
7/6/2008 4:34:59 PM
well except that sampras won 14 but whos counting
7/6/2008 4:42:28 PM
can we now say Nadal is a better tennis player than Federer at this point in both their careers, or do we still say Nadal is better on clay and Federer is better on grass despite today?
7/6/2008 4:48:19 PM
that is VERY tough to answer because i still feel federer outplayed him today...on paper and to a blind eye Nadal is better right now though
7/6/2008 6:21:03 PM
federer outplayed Nadal? What game are you basing that off of?Federer was only able to break Nadal's serve once. While Nadal broke federer's 4 times. He was very close to taking a few more of federer's serves too.You could tell the nerves were getting to Nadal a bit on those first couple of championship points but after the 3rd rain delay he was level headed.Federer looked weary the whole match and looked as if he was playing not to lose...the complete opposite of what Nadal looked today.
7/6/2008 7:28:34 PM
Federer had more break-point opportunities, he just didn't capitalize on them..
7/6/2008 7:33:06 PM
i found it hard to see nadal holding that trophy on grass. just felt wrong
7/6/2008 7:36:33 PM
7/6/2008 7:42:11 PM
Neither player outplayed the other, but in the end, Nadal did enough to win. Possibly the most epic tennis match ever based solely on the match and probably the best ever placed in the context of their past few years' rivalry.
7/7/2008 12:15:40 AM
its not the best ever anythingcalm down people
7/7/2008 8:53:29 AM
I hate that one handed turn around and run the other way back-hand that Nadal has, it put him in good position but I was waiting for Federer to just slam the the shit in his fucking grill one time.
7/7/2008 9:11:31 AM
having only watched tennis for the past ~4 years, and really only the grand slams at that, this was the best match that I've seen. Prior to yesterday, it was the Agassi/Blake match from the (i believe) '05 US open.
7/7/2008 9:21:13 AM
^that was agassi/blake AND agassi/baghdatisthose were unbelievable, but i have to go with this wimbledon final
7/7/2008 12:16:40 PM
i have a soft spot in my heart for agassi/sampras at the '01 us open, when they went four sets with no service breaks
7/7/2008 3:16:54 PM
i remember baghdatis and roddick had an amazing match a couple years back, sampras agassi in the aussie final really sticks out in my mind too
7/7/2008 3:29:52 PM
Sampras/Rafter at Wimbledon was great....and from a sheer drama standpoint, but lacking the top two...Sampras/Corretja (sp?) in the ~1996 US OPEN was a friggin phenomenal match too. An all time favorite of mine.http://www.tennisdvdwarehouse.com/1996_US_SAMPRASvCORRETJA.htm[Edited on July 7, 2008 at 3:55 PM. Reason : the addition of vomit]
7/7/2008 3:54:00 PM
nicee
7/7/2008 4:23:18 PM
Sampras/Corretja is my favorite. Sampras/Courier at the 95 Australian Open is quite good as well.
7/7/2008 4:43:04 PM
7/7/2008 7:32:42 PM
^thats whats going to bug him thoughhe played very well and still lost,,, so he's going to think (man i play my best and lose??? i'm not the best anymore)
7/7/2008 8:59:56 PM
http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/tennis/rankingshow nadal is not #1 is beyond me
