Someone just dropped Warrick Dunn. Think he be worth a pick up on waivers?I dropped my DL Amobi Okoye and picked up Dunn. Just to add a lil depth in case I could not get another starting RB. III[Edited on August 19, 2008 at 9:30 AM. Reason : moves]

No, Dunn is Done. If anything, Sammy Morris or Michael Bennett would be better suited to fill and end of bench spot in a 12 man league.
8/19/2008 9:44:44 AM
I disagree, Dunn is not done. He's getting paid more than Graham IIRC. Graham will get a few more carries, but Dunn will make it up with receptions. Graham will also get the goal line carries, but I think Dunn is a worthy backup in deeper and ppr leagues.[Edited on August 19, 2008 at 9:51 AM. Reason : d]
8/19/2008 9:51:26 AM
I was thinking along the lines of Turnip. That Dunn still has some juice left and will be viable in passes out the backfield and getting slightly more carries, although Graham will get goal line carries. Those backs named have been taken. I have to say, this league is very sports knowledgeable and the pickings now are slim. No one is wanting to get rid of backs to easily b/c of how FF is scored. I am trying to hold out to see wassup on Johnsons shoulders, before I make a real move. I think he would be a good compliment even with giving up Calvin Johnson. III

Anyone need a player in their FF league?I didn't respond to my previous league fast enough, and all the spots got filled up.

Thanks Panthro but did not Slaton get most of his yards in cleanup in the 4th quater also? I would like to take Slaton, he is avail, but for some reason my intuition is leaning towards Dunn back at home. I think he maybe valuable as clean-up change of pace. Not having to carry the load may keep he rolling. Good notes though, I will be looking it over...I don't think anyone will be taking Slaton any time soon. III

Can you tell me more about Ahman Green? I thought, barring further injuries, he would be a starter in Houston?
8/19/2008 11:45:50 AM
^Here is a decent breakdown of a situation posted early this morning, with links to various articles. Long story short: The whole RB situation in Houston is a big question mark.[Edited on August 19, 2008 at 12:00 PM. what's you guys' opinion on Ricky Williams?i have him in my dynasty league and am wanting to take a chance on him by declining trades for him..
8/19/2008 1:49:50 PM
I think right now you should hold him. Ronnie Brown (I think) is not ready to go yet, in a removable cast. Ricky may be the only weapon they have on the ground game. Now if someone offers some ridiculous trade, go with it. III
8/19/2008 1:59:04 PM
Williams is looking better and better:

I could see the trade going through...Miami is/has/will be totally rebuilding for a couple years. III
8/19/2008 2:53:25 PM
McGahee could potentially get released?
8/19/2008 3:11:47 PM
Ha ha ha...picked up Ray Rice with last pick instead of a kicker...(I think) Either way I have Rice. I was never a McGahee fan....great athlete, just never went for his character. It's not like he won't be sought after if cut, released, traded. But still prob just a rumor III
8/19/2008 3:19:30 PM
I got Chris Perry with the 15th pick in the last round of the draft... come Rudi... keep fucking that hammy and/or knee up

So, we just did our draft order here at work and I got the first pick.We are keeping 1 player per team from last year and I'm keeping Peyton.Should I get LT or Adrian Peterson? Also, with my 2nd pick (~15th overall -- already having a solid RB/QB, should I look top of the line receiver, Moss/TO, or should I get a mediocre RB?)[Edited on August 19, 2008 at 4:33 PM. ^^ I agree with ^, but I think you made a mistake by not taking a RB in the first two rds. It looks like you likely had somewhere in between the 7th - 10th pick, and chose to go Moss, then Manning instead of a RB like Gore, MB3, LJ, etc. in combination with your first pick of Moss/Manning. Big mistake IMO. Looks like you then came back at the end of the 3rd rd and went Jamal, then Winslow?Uf!A RB and TE from the Browns on your starting team?! I don't care how potent the Browns are supposed to be, that will be tough.Moss, Coles and Curry aren't exactly striking fear in me....at all.I would take these steps....1) Try trading Winslow for a solid WR or RB, or try to get two for one. A middle ground WR and mid tier RB combo for him. Clear up the extra space on the roster by dropping the Redskins defense. Only an idiot has two roster spots taken with Defenses. If you are lucky enough to pull that off, look at a value TE like (best case) Heath Miller, or (more likely) a high reward player like Zach Miller (OAK) or Owen Daniels (HOU).I hope this is at least a 12 man league...and even with that...you may be in big trouble.Let me know how I can help. Good luck!- The Guru [Edited on August 20, 2008 at 1:29 PM. Reason : asdf]

Panthro, look in your inbox for crying out loud.

i picked up the redskins defense beccause its a league full of skins fans, so i was hoping to use it as trade bait with a homer.
8/20/2008 7:43:09 PM
I switched my #4 pick with the #7 pick in exchange to switch picks in the 2nd, 4th, and 6th rounds. Good idea? Also, since I now have the 7th pick, who do you feel is the best pick? I'm anticipating AP, Westbrook, Addai, LT, and Brady to be gone, and my pick will pretty much rely on who the #6 pick is.I'm looking between Moss/Jackson/Portis, with a lean towards Portis because of Jackson's contract issues and the fact that I'm not entirely sold on Moss being able to produce like he did last year.

^^S. Jax if he's there, especially if its a ppr league....mid 20's stud RB + contract year = monster #'s^that's a pretty solid roster...although with only 8 teams, there are probably a few juggernauts in the league....all in all, I'd just go with that through the first few weeks
8/21/2008 8:42:37 AM
^^ would start Holt over Coles
8/21/2008 9:39:08 AM
^not sure about that.Coles @ Mia/Holt @ Phi.Philly isn't the best, but they do have good corners, and I am sure Favre will be coming out of the gates firing.but of course...this depends on the health of Coles and if he is ready to go.

Any real solid news on Chad Johnson? I have Calvin Johnson and someone wants to trade me Chad Johnson for Calvin Johnson. III
8/21/2008 9:43:50 AM
^don't do it....they are being eerily quiet about his shoulder injury
8/21/2008 10:13:42 AM
^agreed. I really feel like this season should be Calvin's coming out party.Let's hope for no flare ups with the back though.
8/21/2008 11:27:27 AM
^ & ^^ You are probably right....I been hesitant on pulling the trigger on the trade, b/c there seems to be no information at all on C-Johnson's injury but enough of issue to bring back Chris Henry (although they were 'supposedly' in talks before the injury). III
8/21/2008 12:12:16 PM
Marvin Lewis has said that Chad's ahead of schedule, and is still on target to start week 1. Teams don't have to give out detailed injury information until the season starts. That said, I still wouldn't do the trade.[Edited on August 21, 2008 at 12:35 PM. Reason : j]
8/21/2008 12:35:37 PM
I would take Ocho over Calvin in a heartbeat myselfOcho has put up 1,000+ yards each of the past 6 yearsCalvin averaged 3 catches per game last season
8/21/2008 12:38:27 PM
Let's go back to a similar argument that many had in 2007
8/21/2008 1:12:16 PM
regardless of what actually happened last season, going into last season you'd be a fool to pick Braylon over Harrison...or did you personally foresee Derek Anderson playing out of his mind, and Harrison having a huge injury? Go ahead...take a Lions receiver not named Roy Williams instead of one of the best receivers over the last 5 years...Chad Johnson is 30...Marvin is 38...bad analogywould you also draft AP over LT based on upside? cause i sure as hell wouldnt]
8/21/2008 1:25:05 PM
8/21/2008 1:57:37 PM
Interesting....all valid points, I think I am going to back away from Chad....the more I look and read into things "he is ahead of schedule" and should be ready to start week 1 is not a big comfort. Bruised Ego and bruised shoulder could be a bad combo for him. III
8/21/2008 2:15:53 PM
I think you have made the right choice.Twista...My point was not that those two examples are completely analogous, but more importantly...you can't draft strictly on historical stats. Despite some differences in that comparison, Chad Johnson is being drafted at least 1 rd ahead of Calvin...To be exact their ADP (Average Draft Position) in a 10 man league for example is Ocho - 3.03 Calvin - 4.05 (actually tied with Roy Williams and Carson Palmer)Braylon and Marvin were at least this distance apart last year, so it's not so far fetched to think that Calvin will outproduce, especially with Chad already showing signs of being injury plagued.Great debate though...that's really one of the points of this entire thread.[Edited on August 21, 2008 at 2:28 PM.
