Hrm, now that I'm graduated....My votes for worst teachers (I assume they're still there)
Eng Department -
Gray. For having a rabid hatred of engineers (wtf), and doing her damndest to screw them over unfairly. Also does not know half what she thinks she does.

PE Department -
I second Dominigue. She has these expectations off a sheet and takes nothing into account. Water aerobics with her is a great way to nearly drown. That said Charles is an EXCELLENT alternative to her (had to toss it out) I took her class 3 times and only had to take it once just becuase it was that enjoyable - in PE!

CSC Department -
I wish I could remember the guys name. It was a guy, he taught 316 a couple years ago when I had already gotten out of it. Because I was always in lab and a lot of people in his class knew me I felt like I must have re-taught things to HALF his fucking class that semester (and I wasn't even a TA, just a helpful person at the time). 316 can be a bear depending on who you get but this was ridiculous It wasn't Lester or Rhee ...(Lester = awesome. Rhee = if i could understand his accent it might have been okay). Some of his students showed me his assignments and what he was teaching and it was fucking insane. He was asking for 400-500 level concepts without teaching the basics. And then testing on things he didnt teach. And I wasn't even in there and knew how bad it was!

I cant say i ran into that many horrific professors at NCSU, but mostly because i learned pretty fast to avoid them and always drop their classes.

Sounds like some bullshit she would pull. There's not a whole lot of people that did like her; she never really gave me a hard time though, despite my being a blatant underachiever in her class...guess she a had a soft spot for me

For real though GREG YOUNG changed the exam date verbally in class and didn't update it on the website....I missed the final and had to retake that shit. Bastard.. Reason for #1 candidate in my book.

Then for BUS480 I had to do the semester long group project by myself, due to 2 people dropping the class from my group and my remaining tool ass group member left for another group without telling me, just before the 1st assignment was due and groups were finalized. It was my last semester to graduate, and this sorry excuse for a teacher said, "it's probably in my best interest to drop the course"....made no attempt to help me on any level - FUCK YOU GREG YOUNG - managed to pull out a B but I had to carry 4x the normal workload

Did he explain why he should not have gotten a C or just whine about "thinking differently"?

the grades are echoed across all the classes he teaches

it sucks to take the class without knowing he's going to curve the grade...he told us during dead week that a 64 = B (40% still undetermined)

"

Most people don't actually do the reading though, which is why the class average is so low. Austin could be a dick and try to force people to come to class and listen to something they won't understand anyway, or he could let the people who want to learn, learn, while letting the people who don't want to learn just take the class and be done with it.

I don't think Austin is a bad teacher, I think that the structure of the class is a result of them having too few section and teachers for 340. But if you do the readings, then you should easily be able to get a "real" B or A. But if you don't do the readings, you can BS the tests and manage a C or D with the curve.

I disagree with this. There were plenty of terms on the exams that are not in any of the class readings.

the worst professor to ever teach at NCSU was Beulah Parker.....she taught BIO 125

she got put on academic suspension the semester AFTER i had to suffer through her horrid ass class

the second worse is a tie between some bitch i had for ENG 112H that had only given 3 As in her career and some dude in the Economics department....i walked in his class and never sat down....i walked straight out the back door....

That's pretty much exactly what happened to me. Except when I asked to join the one group of three to make every group an even number of four (the group had already ok'd it), he said the groups were finalized, i couldn't switch, and I was still expected to do the same amount of work as all the other groups of 4 people. I promptly dropped the class. What an asshole.

has anyone mentioned that waste of a professor in the Marketing department of the business college

ahhh Claudia Kimbrough that's her name.

she was probably the worst professor I had while at state. She's not even listed as a professor but as a "permanent lecturer"

There was a guy named Hall that taught SOC 203 a couple of years back. He had really long hair and weighed about 400 lbs (No kidding, he couldn't walk across the classroom without having to mop his forehead with a paper towel). Final project for his class included a paper. He said my paper would have been an A if I had included one of the key points (I don't remember what it was exactly). I had that in there, 2 pages worth. So I showed it to him the day he handed it back, and he said something along the lines of "Too bad. If I regrade it, then the paper's gonna drop a full letter grade." Fuck you fatass. Because of that paper, my grade dropped from an A- to a C. So yeah... fuck you.

Oh, and Mowat for Physics... Yeah, he told a chick to leave his class when she couldn't figure out where he was getting a negative number from his equation. He kept telling her to look at the diagram, and finally after about 3 minutes, he said "I expect a certain level of intelligence for this class which obviously you don't possess. Go back to high school, and then retake this class." Yeah... another asshole.

lol, i started that argument. you're right, he was wrong and was a dick about it.

but he was still a good teacher.

While I get annoyed with people who ask questions like this, he still owes her a professional answer her inquiries. He could have just said "Please see me after class" and explained it to her then to minimize wasted lecture time.

It wouldn't have been such a big deal except he never actually answered her question, and there were 5 other people asking the same question.

There was no actual negative in the diagram. He used the diagram to get a formula... which he didn't explain or even put on the board. He just expected us to figure it out.

Haha. I was going to come back in this thread with the full intention of talking about Austin, but I'm glad to see he's come up on one or more occasion. Why the fuck is he giving multiple choice exams in a philosophy class? I think my bullshit exposure level reached new heights in that class after hearing so many ridiculous theories and arguments

OH, and how the fuck did I forget the Archihell professors? I think her name was Weinstein. I cut off the tip of my finger in class with an Xacto blade (This is what happens after 2 all-nighters in a row) and she wouldn't let me leave to go to the doctor. After an hour, I went up to her and said I was leaving whether she liked it or not (it wouldn't stop bleeding) I think she might have been afraid I was gonna pass out or something (considering I was bleeding everywhere and dizzy), because she made someone walk with me to Student Health. The next day I walked in with 3 stitches... and I got lectured on how I got a drop of blood on the corner of my drawing and needed to redo it.

Shannon Davis and Gregg Young.

And I'd like to know why people didn't like Fauntleroy and what class you took him for??

I had him for Finite Math and thought he was an above average professor. I know a lot of students got pissed because he gave a few hard exams...but suck it up.

Haha.. I thought Austin was the greatest class of all time when I took it - considering I didn't care about the subject.

Go to a few classes the entire semester, focus the mental energies enough to get the 74 or whatever it was that was required on the test at that time to get an A+, that is all.

That said, if you aren't good at puzzles or whatever the hell part of the brain is required to figure out his tests, then yeah, you'd be pretty much screwed.
