^^it's got a beast of a motor to match its size though. the 1200 motivates it pretty well. sure, you won't be carving coves up and launching wakes, but you can to a certain extent. then you've also got the added comfort and size, which is a big advantage if you plan to use the board and tube much. also, you don't want a ski that slides around in turns. cut a sponson in and go. a ski that spins so easily is fun to play on sometimes. my raider 760 is like that, it'll just lose it's shit in a full high speed turn and slide/spin like it was on ice.ha, yeah i've been going with shark bite recently but latino gang sounds good.[Edited on July 15, 2008 at 10:31 AM. This is what i had...\/Best wave/wake jumper in the WORLD! I had a 700 in it with a riva pipe. Super racey and it would spin on a dime if you just leaned forward in a turn. It was such a good ski. To many problems with it now

ha, but I love the engine placement in the vxr, and how it's set really far forward. Makes it easy to do 360's [Edited on July 15, 2008 at 2:28 PM. Reason : shit everything sits low IMO. Doesn't matter as long as your ballsin out on the thing. ]

i've heard the GP1300R will do that shit if you don't change out the stock intake grate. For having such a nasty reputation, I never ONCE got bucked off of my Ultra 150 (except with my friend's mom trying to climb on the back and nearly tipping it over). I came close a few times when jumping waves/wakes, but always managed to hang on.[Edited on July 17, 2008 at 3:40 AM. Reason : asdfasd]

^ if u had a vxr, then you wouldn't have that problem...slow thoughYou can land anyway you want to and you will be fine, I don't know how it does it.

I am headed up to Maryland to pick up my ski on Friday! Any of you guys want to hit the lake next week?

the guy that died after wping out at the lake the other day, i bet his wife will be selling both his and her skis soon on craigslist... CHEAP

how in the hell did he get himself dead on a jet ski? i mean, it's doable, but pretty unlikely.
8/4/2008 12:54:13 PM
My brother is selling his if anybody is interested. He's got a double and single trailer to include. I don't have a better picture right now but he does.

^^^^^^it happens a lot more often than you'd think or probably hear about, especially in coastal areas with rentals. there's usually at least one pwc related death per year down around the area i ride most of the time. usually it's a result of people hauling ass towards another craft, pier, or channel marker/buoy. in an effort to maneuver around or away from whatever it is, instinct/panic tells them to let off the throttle. obviously this renders the steering useless. just like people who stand on their brakes locking the wheels up in a vehicle and wonder why it doesn't turn. there must be an adverse affect i'm missing, but i've always wondered why manufacturers don't incorporate some sort of fin/rudder onto the bottom of the nozzle to aid in some sort of control when you back out of the throttle. similar to what's on the lower unit of a outboard/stern drive. or, even an aftermarket piece that could be installed by clamping it around the nozzle for rental companies, inexperienced riders, etc.there's also the limited cases where people die as a result of being tossed from the pwc and hitting something/losing consciousness and drowning. even just tumbling across the water at 50mph+ can ring your bell a little.[Edited on August 4, 2008 at 1:44 PM. just put those anywhere
8/4/2008 1:44:14 PM
^^ I've really thought the same thing and thought about putting skegs on the bottom, like ski boats to hold a line when turning.
8/4/2008 2:05:19 PM
^^^ some 'Doos have little rudders. i don't know how well they work.i just gas it and make it go where i want, because i'm not retarded.
8/4/2008 7:15:25 PM
It seems like the rudder might be useful for steering in case you've lost power, but I haven't been on a ski/waverunner/whateverthehellyouwanttocallit of any kind since I was about 10 years old. I don't know how often you would possibly loose power or how effective a tiny rudder would even be. I remember having a lot of fun though and I remember people riding their skis up onto beaches in their back yards instead of onto a trailer. That always seemed stupid to me, since you're probably packing lots of debris into the impeller.[Edited on August 4, 2008 at 7:21 PM. Reason : ]

8/20/2008 10:26:44 AM
If "around 55MPH" = 45MPH then that is a true statement.^^ It's eight hundred dollars. What do you want them to give it to you or something?
8/20/2008 10:31:01 AM
No, I'd say 600 tops for that ski. It's old and tops out at about 42 ~ 43 not 55[Edited on August 20, 2008 at 5:51 PM. Reason : unless he has modded it or something. ]

8/23/2008 11:40:24 AM
hmmm...there's a GP1200 I can buy for $2700 with a trailer. it has 65 hours, and is in good shape except for the paint being worn in a spot on the side where it rubbed against a dock.the only problem is that at this point, i'll barely get to ride it before leaving for iraq in a month. think it'll be easy to find one for that price or better in the off season, as I'll be getting back in late March?
8/23/2008 7:15:27 PM
^ I would say yes. There are always skis for sale, no matter where or when. You just have to keep your eyes open.
8/24/2008 10:27:52 PM
Do you guys know a good place to get a Yamaha waverunner serviced? The only place that keeps coming up on searches is Matison Motorsports.
9/4/2008 6:10:01 PM
I dunno...Some of the motorcyclists on this board have posted bad things about them. You could try searching and maybe find some of the posts.
9/4/2008 6:16:19 PM
^What types of things?
9/4/2008 9:33:20 PM
some ridiculously good deals out there right now on PWC!
11/30/2008 5:06:06 PM
Yeah, all the people that were waiting for winter to sell their PWC's that will crank, but would run like shit in the water.
11/30/2008 6:29:09 PM
sounds like my Ultra 150 when I bought it (although I tested it in the water, noticed the problem, and got it for cheap enough that it was still a good deal).I'm afraid the values will have gone back up by the time I get back from Iraq. I might roll the dice and buy one from over here, anyway (either eBay, craigslist, or from greenhulk.net)...just have someone back in NC pick it up for me.I mean, I'm seeing GP1300Rs for $3500-4000, and 1200s for $1500-2500, all advertised as good skis (on greenhulk.net, where they aren't likely to be able to scam anyone, anyway).[Edited on November 30, 2008 at 7:21 PM.
