You guys over-analyze the shit out of movies. It's a fucking SUPERHERO movie. Stop expecting stellar plots and deep character histories that all mesh together perfectly. The whole concept is for the audience to be able to escape to a fantasy and just be entertained. For a SUPERHERO movie, give me some good action, blow some shit up, put in some humor... and enough of a story to keep it moving along. That's it. If you want intricate plots and themes to criticize, then go see Good Will Hunting or some shit. Can you just not see some action and humor and be entertained? I enjoyed this a lot. Funny, good action scenes, unique take on the life/lives of superheros. Will this get an Oscar? Hell no. But it's not like it was DareDevil, Elektra, or some other truly lame hero movie./rant [Edited on July 14, 2008 at 12:17 AM. Reason : other]

Iron Man is a superhero movie, and its story was coherent. I enjoy plenty of mindless action movies, see: Wanted.I just didn't like Hancock, is that allowed?being a superhero movie is far from a free ticket to be enjoyable, I also hated X-men 3 and spiderman 3. I liked hancock more than both of those though, thanks to the decent first half of hancock.[Edited on July 14, 2008 at 2:21 AM. Reason : sadfd]

So what happens in 40 years when the PR guy kicks the bucket? Does Charlize Theron track Hancock down and patch things up? ... A 40-year booty call in the middle of a centuries-long, fated marriage? That didn't make sense to me.But Will Smith's line, "Well, you need to sue McDonald's 'cause ... they fucked your shit up," made me lol.[Edited on July 14, 2008 at 2:54 AM. Reason : r]

Of course that's allowed. I was just commenting on the folks who look to a completely fictional, fantasy-based movie trying to find some kind of deep and engaging plot and backstory. For a movie like this, I don't give a crap about:-how they were originally created?-have they always been black & white?-can they procreate?-how did she plan on explaining to her husband (PR guy) why she would never age?-did the general population know that Hancock has been alive for thousands of years?-etc. etc. etc.Who cares? I sure don't. I want to see awesome special effects, creative action scenes, ass-whoopin, explosions and funny stuff. They told us just enough information about them for us to understand them within the timeline of the film. The deep history and future possibilities? Doesn't matter a bit to me.Of course, this is all opinion... so to each their own. It just seems like TWW is full of snobbish, self-proclaimed movie experts who find ways to talk shit about regular movies. Not every damn movie has to be Saving Private Ryan. That's all I'm saying.**I laughed my ass off when the lady said, "...and I can smell the liquor on your breath from here!" "I've been drinkin', bitch!" Good times.***

I mean, all that stuff is trivial, more or less. The movie really suffers when the story breaks down halfway through and becomes horrible. should have kept on track where it was going in the first half.

i found it entertaining. i laughed my ass off when he was in prison. in fact i cried laughing so hard in the opening scene.

I have gotten use to the over analyzing in TWW. It's more like a competition as to who can rip apart a movie/song/album/video game the most. I save that for work & class. I am with hypaone. Was a good summer movie. I will end up going to see Hell Boy II, just to enjoy it. And get this the characters are not real, and the plot I am sure will be unrealistic...but I am looking for the movie to just entertain me for a couple hours lol. III

it's kind of silly how much better than Hancock Hellboy is.shut the fuck up about over-analyzing already, some people like good stories and just have different standards. and that's fine. Hellboy II is enjoyable and very entertaining AND has a good story. Hancock fucked up somewhere along the line in my opinion.sorry but i'm not going to enjoy "In the Name of the king" with Jason Statham just because it has a lot of action, and I didn't like Hancock very much. It's not a criticism competition, and you guys are looking just as dickhead-ish as you seem to think those dogging this movie are, just in a different way.

thought it was pretty good

I just watched Hellboy II yesterday and I have to say its story was just another lord of the ringish-save the world by getting to some acient artifact before the bad guys do-type storyline. Hancock had a totally different direction with its story telling and thats what made it such a great movie. While I admit Hellboy was a good movie, tons of action, great special effects, cool characters its story just wasn't near as engaging as Hancock's. But thats just my 2 cents on the issue.
