I'm diggin' the new portion of 840 or whatnot connecting 40 to Bryan Blvd... I can make it from my place in Charlotte to the folks' place with five stoplights!

Yeah, it's pretty sweet. Too bad my GPS doesn't have it on there, and I don't feel like spending $80 for the update

the changes on 40 are so confusing

It's mostly confusing because they changed it once for the I-40 loop thingy and made the old part Business 40 but then they failed to build enough sound barriers to adequately deal with the number of trucks and cars that are practically now plowing through neighborhoods. So due to the uproar they changed Business 40 back to I-40 and are just making the new thing the loop. The catch is that they haven't changed all the signs yet so unless you know where you are going it can be very daunting.

I hate coming back from that way. In early December I had to go to Winston and I didn't know that I had to take the exit to stay on the 40 that I was used to so instead I had to take the long ass way around to get back to Burlington.

^^ Old Town on Campus is pretty much the only good bar over that way these days. Blind Tiger is still a good place to go see live music, but it can get pretty creepy. Other than that, most of the good bars are downtown, which is only like a 3 minute drive from UNCG. Shit, you could almost walk to Natty Greene's from campus.

The best Sushi restaurant on the planet is on Tate St. though, so if she likes Sushi she will be VERY happy

lol, mine too. the bitch just keeps screaming at me "PROCEED TO THE HIGHLIGHTED ROUTE! PROCEED TO THE HIGHLIGHTED ROUTE"

I have a Magellan. Not sure of the model and I don't feel like going out to my car, but it was the biggest screen one they had last year.

And yes, I am more of a sports bar kinda guy too. But if you aren't into the club scene, there is always Stumblestilskins, Green Burro, Pour House, Natty's to some extent, and several others away from down town. My advice is pick up a Rhino Times

When I worked in High Point we used to hit happy hour there at least once a week. Definitely nice eye candy over there. But like I said, you gotta be careful. One of my coworkers wanted to ask this waitress that was flirting with him for her number. I told him he better let me ask her how old she was first. I asked her, she was 16.

Is it me or is there a total lack of a solid rock station here? There is like 3 classic rock channels, but nothing that plays newer stuff.

I have eaten at GVG a few times. It was right across the street from my old office so we ate lunch there quite a bit. It's really good, especially if you aren't paying. It's pretty pricey.

Ive been to the farmers market by the Airport, it was mostly local farmers. Didnt notice if any of the product was organic because when I go Im mostly looking for plants for our garden not to eat.

On the farmers market website they have contact info (336) 605-9157. They should be able to answer your questions like that.

If they dont you could always try the curb market as well, although thats only open up in the summer time.

I sent this to Hockey, but since EMCE has been good enough to help me with access to the old school section here is some info about the Farmer's Market along with some of the local growers here in Greensboro.

Quote :
"There's a wide variety of produce that comes through there at different times in the year. Some of it is from organic farmers, though it's kind of hit and miss. Majority of the produce is local to the state, though I think this year they are trying to pass a law that all the produce has to be from the state. So things like peaches and oranges will become a bitch to get.

Farmer's Market has a bunch of interesting fruits and veggies. They are a great place for heirloom tomatoes. The Farmer's Market is also a great place to get fresh cut flowers for cheap. here's the website for it
http://www.agr.state.nc.us/markets/facilities/markets/triad/index.htm

The Bettini's have a pretty decent farm, here is their link
http://www.bettinifarm.com/

If you ever get a chance try some of the Goat Lady Dairy products. It's so good. There's a restaurant downtown that you can get it at called the Metro (I think you can get it from there still). It's right across the street from Fincastles. The food there is pretty good also if you're hungry. Here is her site
http://www.goatladydairy.com/

Here is a website that has some local farms listed. Should help if you are looking for an organic type of product.
http://www.localharvest.org/search.jsp?map=1&lat=36.070576&lon=-79.766148&scale=9&ty=0&nm=&zip=27499

If you have any other questions about Greensboro or the Farmer's Market let me know."
