If you arent going to drink, why even bother such a big deal for a 21st Bday party? If drinking age was 18, 21 would be as exciting as 22. Meaning nil. the Duke had it right. I'm personally really tired of christians and their warped sense of sin. My catholic priest was smoking big fat-ass cigars on our catholic school's 8th grade trip. I mean even fucking jesus conjured up some magic-booze at parties.

^ Time for me to jump sides for the sake of continuing an argument.
The 21st birthday is one of the few remaining rites of passage left in our society, and it can be a totally "clean" passage into adulthood. What does adulthood have to do with alcohol?

Dang, I just got Apples to Apples for my birthday, that game is the bomb dot com.

One time, a bunch of us were playing Scattergories and the letter was "A". The category was "Fictional Characters". One of mine was "Adam" from the Bible. For some reason a bunch of people got mad about that.

^ lol

^^ 18 is adult in every legal sense. 23/25 is responsible in renting a car sense. any age can be adult in a maturity sense. 21 is only the state government's opinion of when you should drink, BUT they already thought you were an adult 3 years earlier. adult enough to be enlisted in the military and have the right to kill people with impunity, but not enough for alcohol. also, tobacco is 18 as well. So 21 isnt adulthood. I was mature enough for adulthood around 19 or 20 by my own standards. 21 is just a bullshit number to keep stupid kids from driving drunk. and it doesnt work.

^Forilla. A Danish exchange student is staying with my family, and she was talking about how 16 is the legal age to buy alcohol there.

EVERYWHERE else I've been in the world (Peru, Mexico, Spain, Netherlands, Canada, Italy, Uruguay, etc.) the legal age is below 21 and/or not enforced at all. My brother bought wine in Spain when he was 13. The U.S. is an anomaly when it comes to very strict alcohol-age laws and a high legal drinking age.

I wonder how strict they are about alcohol in The Vatican?

Anyways, don't hate on people just because they don't drink, not everyone that doesn't drink looks down on those who do or is a bible thumper. I don't drink but I always have a great time when I'm around people that do, it generally makes the atmosphere more enjoyable. My gf is pretty conservative though, she was telling me once how she got mad at her ex because he drank a beer and I was thinking the whole time "wtf is wrong with that?"

Some southern baptists are really against it
A girlfriend of mine's father and mother had never ever had a sip of alcohol in their life, as a catholic I was shocked.

But hey, thats their way of life and I guess if you have one for a friend you have a DD at all times

i never understood why some protestant denominations deem consumption of any alcohol to be sinful.

Jesus himself essentially made the first documented beer run when the keg ran dry at that party.

ok substitute wine for beer, but still.

Say what you want about Catholicism being too strict, our baseline BAC is over the legal limit
