i'd rather see michigan st vs george mason as a 12/5 matchup than notre dame and george mason as a 12/5 matchup
3/16/2008 6:00:51 PM
Davidson/Gonzaga will be a good one. so will butler/ south Alabama. its in Birmingham and that is a ripe 10 seed upset.temple/Michigan state too. tough call.^ i don't know, i think both games are really good tough open rounders. ND will not get off easy there. [Edited on March 16, 2008 at 6:02 PM. Reason : and more]

That is messed up VT got snubbed. I guess if they had beat Carolina yesterday they would have been harder to leave out.[Edited on March 16, 2008 at 6:07 PM. Reason : .]
3/16/2008 6:01:35 PM
I truly believed that had VT beat UNC yesterday, they would have made the tournament.
3/16/2008 6:05:05 PM
3/16/2008 6:05:24 PM
^^they would have toMiami beat 1 of 2 games and beat VT 1 of 2 games, lost to unc, lost to clemsonVT beat Miami in the tournament, lost to UNC twice, lost to duke...but had a better conference record...[Edited on March 16, 2008 at 6:06 PM. Reason : asdfghjkl]

^ It's not a balanced schedule, so comparing conference records doesn't mean much when you have 16 games and a 12-team conference.
3/16/2008 6:12:49 PM
i'm pulling for a Duke-Arizona matchupand then rooting for Henderson to elbow the shit out of Bayless and Budinger
3/16/2008 6:14:54 PM
Kentucky in over Syracuse? hmmmm
3/16/2008 6:15:56 PM
so herb sendeks team didnt get into the thing?
3/16/2008 6:20:17 PM
you apparently don't have cable TVturn it to CBS/ESPN/ESPN News/ESPNU and you'll hear every analyst they have talking about Arizona State and their snubbing[Edited on March 16, 2008 at 6:22 PM. Reason : m]
3/16/2008 6:21:57 PM
^ They do it every year for someone.
3/16/2008 6:24:21 PM
bitch bitch bitch whine whine whine. If you don't put yourself on the bubble, then you don't have to worry about it.
3/16/2008 6:25:33 PM
and it just so happens that it's my 2nd fav team that gets the 2008 snubbing
3/16/2008 6:25:52 PM
guess i'll have to root for vt in the NIT
3/16/2008 6:26:18 PM
so who all got snubbed?
3/16/2008 6:27:55 PM
UNC is 21-1 all-time in the state of North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament.
3/16/2008 6:29:56 PM
I'm guessing it'll be like 24-2 after this year.
3/16/2008 6:33:42 PM

I'm laughing my ass off at Dick Vitale. He's telling Bob Knight to go back coaching at Indiana with Vitale as head recruiter and Digger Phelps as director of basketball operations, and Knight has got this priceless look on his face with his chin sitting on his fist of "You're crazy and shut the heck up!"
3/16/2008 7:34:10 PM
3/16/2008 7:42:57 PM
haha wow i love how 2 of the ESPN guys think its all 1 seeds in the Final Four and the 2 others talking right now think its 3 out of the 4 in the Final Four How many times has all 4 one seeds made it to the Final Four? i know its not many timesI think Vitale is closer to being right though I don't think UNC wins it all
3/16/2008 8:00:22 PM
What I really really really don't get is how Butler was ranked #10 at the end of the season, wins their conference tournament, and then gets stuck with a 7 seed? I'd think that the 4 seven seeds would be about the 25th to the 28th best teams in the nation, with maybe a +/- 1 seed for some wiggle room. To me it totally makes sense that the #1-4 teams should get a #1 seed, the #5-8 teams should get a #2 seed, etc. That would put Butler as a solid #3 seed. I just cannot fathom why they are a #7 seed. I am not really a Butler fan at all, so I am not trying to argue their merits either way. However their only losses were a 1 point and a 4 point loss to the runner up teams in their conference and a 7 point loss to another ranked team. Does that imply that the people making the polls all year long are complete idiots and Butler is not even a top 25 team, much less a #10? Or are the people on the selection committee just that stupid?
3/16/2008 8:33:41 PM
damn... Butler is a rough fucking 7 seed for Tennessee...
3/16/2008 8:40:57 PM
yeah i'm drinking the koolaid for butleri have then in the elite 8with UCLA beating kansas in the final(kansas does have a tendency to fuck me over every single year though)
3/16/2008 8:45:40 PM
3/16/2008 8:49:18 PM
^^ haha me too (kansas fucking me over)^ i thought that was the case[Edited on March 16, 2008 at 8:50 PM. Reason : ]
3/16/2008 8:49:59 PM
5^The people on the selection committee are just that stupid. It's upset fucking central this year. I think one #1 seed makes it to the FF (Memphis or UCLA).
3/16/2008 9:00:42 PM
well my other predictions were horribly wrong so i'll just bank on my UT thing.
3/16/2008 9:35:42 PM
so is it common to completely ignore conference records when determining who's in? Seems to have happened a lot this year...
3/16/2008 9:45:09 PM
they've always said they dont look at conferences as wholethey just look at who you've played and who you've beatif that makes sense
3/16/2008 9:46:25 PM
if they looked at who you beat, half the fucking Big East wouldn't be dancing...the bottom of that conference is so fucking horrible...all that conference did was pad stats against the likes of rutgers, USF, St Johns, DePaul, etc
3/16/2008 11:14:31 PM
Then the Big East won't go far in the tournament.

They just showed some memorable moments of March Madness in a highlight as they came back to the play-in game. They had a couple of shots from the 83 game, like the players getting on top of the goal, and of course the Jimmy V running around. It made me sad, b/c we aren't in the tournament. We are hosting NCAA games and aren't even in the tourney. If I was Sid I would take those guys to some of the games and show them what they are missing. Maybe that would light a fire in them and make them determined to get back to the NCAAs.
3/18/2008 7:51:30 PM
^ Fuck Yeah...Bring all four of those returning players!

I will bow down and lick the vag of whoever wins the $5 yahoo challenge, because it will undoubtedly be a chick that's too stupid to know anything about sports and gets ridiculously lucky while every guy scratches their head wondering how George Mason made another fucking Final Four.
3/19/2008 1:46:05 PM
but my boyfriends name is george and my brothers name is mason
3/19/2008 3:43:18 PM
^^^^ It is the #1 rated conference in the RPI but that is far from the whole story.I would put it 3rd behind the Pac-10 and Big East personally... About Va Tech... they had ample opportunity to beat a number of Top 50 RPI teams and only had ONE win, which was far less than any competing bubble team (for comparisons sake Arizona St had 5). That combined with BAD home losses to mid-major to low-major teams did them in.There was no one else in the ACC that was a viable option to make the tourney with Maryland flaming out. I think the committee got it about right with the ACC...
