It's well known that restaurants make much of their profit on beverage sales. A 16-oz serving of Coke costs the restaurant around 6 cents, sweet tea 8 cents, and unsweet 2 cents. Not saying I'm cool with places charging 2.50 for a damn drink, but it's not like some fat asshole is sitting and collecting on your drink dollars. That profit goes right back into the restaurant and keeps your food prices down.

Then again, you'll generally only be charged that much for a drink at a chain, and there's a good reason it's a "chain".. you don't get to build hundreds of restaurants by limiting profits to please customers.

It's the same reason tipping practices exist and servers are paid 3 bucks an hour...why pay their employees a livable wage when you're going to give them YOUR money? But again, if they bumped the hourly wage to something any self-respecting human would wait tables for, your food would cost twice as much.

GOOD RULE FOR THOSE UNACQUAINTED WITH THE SERVICE INDUSTRY: Do not walk into a restaurant any less than an hour before close and expect to get good/any service. They close at 9:30, they don't want to be waiting on your ass to finish eating after that.

Haha I'm guilty of that. They charge for dressing/celery over at bada wings, but I'm not worried about the food side of shit so I just ask if people want ranch or bleu cheese...usually forget to tell them it's extra
