Well, I guess I'll keep talking to myself about this game. - The manned artillery fieldpiece in the Army's outpost is godly. I don't know if it repops or not after it's been destroyed, though. I never stick around long enough to find out.- I am getting really good at flying the helicopter. This is infinitely easier than BF2.- I am surprisingly fond of the powerboat for one thing. While on offense, you can pilot it up the river, point it into the streets, and use the grenade launcher on the bow to wreak havoc. I got 18 kills in one round doing just this one thing.- Still haven't found anybody's dropped M95 to see if it'll one-shot kill. I don't have any more unlocks left. I was really on the fence about this game, but now I've gotta have it. This is SO much better than Frontlines. It's no COD4, but the gameplay mechanics make this really fun.
6/18/2008 5:50:14 PM
yeah the artillery respawns.you can rack up SO many kills with that thing [Edited on June 18, 2008 at 5:57 PM. Reason : i'm pretty sure the M95 is only a one hit kill in the chest or the head. Otherwise its >95% fatal.]
6/18/2008 5:56:32 PM
As long as it's a chest shot, then I'm happy. I seldom go for the head unless it's a stationary target.Do the defenders get a manned artillery fieldpiece anywhere on the map?I can't wait for more maps! I am having so much fun trying to figure the best places to go to set up for good shots.
6/18/2008 8:29:04 PM
^ not on the maps i played.
6/18/2008 8:34:11 PM
the mp is not strong enough to make me want to come back online, i am sure cod5 will do this, but the sp is outstanding, and i got to buy this as soon as it comes out. kudos ea, i did not expect the sp to be so great.
6/18/2008 10:27:17 PM
It took me awhile to get into the mechanics of the multiplayer, but I am completely hooked on the demo alone. This game is no COD4 by any stretch, but some of the combat elements in this just make me giddy. I really thought that the whole destructible environment was just a gimmick, but I see it now more as a tool to be used.I saw in the paper today that Circuit City will have this on Tuesday for regular price plus a $10 gift card. They are also giving away grenade happy face pins. The mystery to me, though, is that they are advertising that they're giving away an exclusive unlockable gun. WTF? I didn't think any retailers had exclusive unlocks in this. I'm guessing it's the same unlock for preordering, but I want to be sure. How does the gift card work with this? I presume you get it after you pay full price for the game? What happens if you take the game back? Can you get a refund, and then use the card to buy it again?
6/22/2008 7:01:46 PM
played the ps3 demo..... not too bad, but the controls just dont feel as precise as COD4.
6/22/2008 7:04:23 PM
6/23/2008 11:12:24 AM
Ah, thanks. I knew there had to be a stopgap in there somewhere. I'm still curious about their so-called exclusive unlockable. The picture in the ad looks just like the sniper rifle you get when you preorder.
6/23/2008 1:53:03 PM
i think i've become more interested in this after playing the demo for a bit and then reading some reviews so far on metacritic...88/100 so far
6/23/2008 6:01:30 PM
Is it taking forever to join a ranked online match for anyone else? It goes into unranked ones easily but can't find any ranked ones.
6/25/2008 12:35:29 AM
i played the demo through again last night and tried the multiplayer. a poster above is right, it just doesn't feel as precise as COD4. I seem to have a much harder time manually aiming and it may just be me but i feel like the on screen map is a little off on enemy locations. It may be the AI, and if so awesome, but i will run to the red dot only to see no one and find myself getting blasted at my 9 o clock by the guy 15-20 ft away.
6/25/2008 8:03:55 AM
yea, the servers are acting funny. I played MP on the xbox for about an hour yesterday and then couldn't connect for another two hours. This morning I couldn't join at 7AM, but joined fine around 8:30 or so.I finally made it to staff sgt this A.M.[Edited on June 25, 2008 at 12:25 PM. I am definitely enjoying this game so far, but EA is really pissing me off with their Find All Five website. I've used the same name and password for all of the BF2 games as well as 2142, and the stupid registration refused to acknowledge that I was a 2142 player. I found my old stats online and everything, so I know I wasn't forgetting something. About 2 hours later I decided to try again with the exact same credentials... and wouldn't you know that it worked. So now that it recognized that I am a 2-game veteran, I went to link my 360 gamertag with my EA tag. I completed the registration and was instructed that I'd receive an email with the final instructions. It's been over 24 hours now, and no email yet. Stupid EA.- For those who haven't gotten it yet, the Uzi is godly in close quarters. It's worth ranking up in the demo to get it.- I also really like the pre-order sniper rifle. You typically have to double-tap someone in the head to kill them, but the rifle is fairly accurate.- The Support mortar strike seems to be a good bit more powerful now.

I think it's substantially more realistic in one critical way: readiness. Because it takes longer for weapons to be made "ready" in the Battlefield series, being in a good firing position is much more important than in COD4. In Bad Company, you have to carefully consider taking off running from point to point because if you come across someone along the way, most of the time they're going to shoot you down with little trouble since you don't have your gun drawn. The response time can be frustrating to a lot of people, but I think it just makes you (or should make you) more calculating about picking good places from which to shoot. This is another thing which I appreciate about the destructible environment. A good blind can very quickly disappear with one rocket or tank shell, so it kinda makes camping a bit more difficult.- From what I've seen so far, the M95 is NOT a one-shot kill weapon unless you score a headshot. That seems fairly stupid to me since it's supposed to have maximum damage, but all of the other bolt-action sniper rifles can also one-shot kill in the head. The Barrett should be able to one-shot in the chest, but can't.- Finally got the last 2 of the Find All Five weapons. (Thanks for being so damned slow, EA.) The USAS-12 has very quickly become my favorite weapon in the game. Holy shit is that gun awesome. I accidentally ran into the attic of a building in which there were 4 enemies. I shot 3 of them and knifed the last one in less than 5 seconds. I could have walked in there with the M60 and gotten my ass handed to me.- Damn, I miss claymores. - Why does the Apache have such great visibility and the other choppers don't? I can't see shit on the ground when in the Havoc. Seems a little unbalanced to me.- Something amusing - next time when you have a chance to sneak up on a gold crate, try knifing it instead of planting charges on it. It's a little slower, but it does draw less attention. I find that the enemy team doesn't always respond when the crate is under attack, but they will come running when the siren goes off on a charge.

So I was in the beta and really enjoyed it...i downloaded the demo and played it once and enjoyed it....but I'm trying to force myself to go buy it. What are the other maps like that weren't in the demo/beta?
6/27/2008 7:09:03 PM
I caved...just bought it for Xbox360.ktk Golovko - add me if you want to play online.

6/28/2008 12:04:06 PM
is anyone else having a problem finding a game online?
6/29/2008 3:54:58 PM
^nope...never have. playing right now.
6/29/2008 9:25:41 PM
they did have some probs yesterday according to eh bc website. anyway, where on the bc website can i find my screenshots that i took in the game? i must be blind or stupid because i can't find them anywhere.
6/30/2008 2:53:44 PM
Huh. I didn't actually know you could take screenshots. Had I known that, I'd have taken a bunch last night. I saw some seriously WTF moments when I noticed that some of the members of both teams were scoring up in the 10,000's on the Oasis map. Gotta be an exploit or something? I found it amusing that the guy with the highest score got his ass handed to him on the next map. I wound up with almost 500 points in a round, and he had <100.- The knife attack just has WAY too far a reach. If someone is inside of 10 yards from you and you don't have either a shotgun or Uzi, you're going to lose. The other person will often close that gap and stick you and you can't do a damn thing to stop them. This is the prime example of how underpowered some of the weapons seem to be - when you unload a magazine on someone at point-blank range and they can still run in and stick you with a knife. WTF.- How much damage does C4 do to a gold crate? While sitting on a rooftop on Oasis, I watched a Specialist run up to a full-health crate (at Streets) and proceed to destroy it with one fell swoop. I don't know what he did to it, but it killed him in the process. He charged right into it at full speed, it blew up, and it launched his corpse off of the building. There was no warning about the crate having been damaged - it just simply went away. It's the fastest I've ever seen a crate be destroyed. I wasn't sure if he had planted a few blocks on it previously, reloaded, and then blew them all up simultaneously. If so, that's a hell of a good strategy if you know where the nearest ammo crate is. I just unlocked C4 last night, so I'm curious to see how much damage you can do with it.- Speaking of ammo crates, do deployed explosives persist when you reload? Like landmines, for example. If I plant all 5 and then go to the ammo crate, do the 5 I planted remain or do they disappear? Same question goes for C4.- Can landmines be forcibly detonated (i.e. BF2)? if a Demolitions and Specialist sneak up to a crate, can the Demolitions put mines on the crate and then have the Specialist use C4 to blow it all up at once? That'd be a great way to destroy crates if the mines will go off.
6/30/2008 3:36:14 PM
yeah, just push up on the d-pad. this game has a ridiculously high learning curve, in regards to what exactly is happening, what the meters mean, the weaponry switch, albeit it all works quite well, but hardcore fans cod and halo would just hate this game based on switching weapons alone. not to mention the interface for weapons kits, and the hud, both in general are confusing. and in addition to al of this, the ea website is rather slow and rather clunky at times, can't find screenshots that i took, have to pay for weapons or wait it out, and basically the 'findallfive' bullshit is just what it is - flat out bullshit.
6/30/2008 3:43:09 PM
Ah, that would explain it. I'm playing with mouse and keyboard, so I didn't think to map the d-pad buttons to anything. Guess I'll set that to print screen now.How do you invite someone to your squad if it's not already full? I haven't bothered with this yet since I normally wind up in a full squad anyway.
6/30/2008 10:19:57 PM
^ mouse and keyboard on 360?
7/1/2008 12:09:40 AM
Is the pre-order sniper rifle the only semi-automatic recon rifle?
7/1/2008 1:23:43 AM
I think the SVU might be, but I haven't unlocked it yet.
7/1/2008 2:49:44 AM
so this battlefield is only being released for xbox and PS3?sad if this is trueI have a PS3 but I'd much rather play this game on the PC[Edited on July 1, 2008 at 7:17 AM. Reason : i'll still buy it though]
7/1/2008 7:15:16 AM
pc users would have a big advantage more so than the typical shooter with bc in my opinion. the sniper, which is about where the biggest part of the advantage would lie, can't really get close to the battle like other online mp shooters and accuracy with the mouse would be make him stronger. albeit i still look at the mouse as a handicap :/
7/1/2008 8:11:46 AM
I prefer the mouse+keyboard combo for shooter gamesEasier and faster movements with the mouse and easier to change weapons/switch gear with keyboardsI would prefer the regular controller for the vehicles. Flying a plane or helicopter or driving a tank, APC, or vehicle just isn't the same with mouse/keyboard.
7/1/2008 12:17:50 PM
the very best thing about bc is that you don't have to communicate with anyone, therefore, you don't have to listen to whiners, and kids running off at the mouth because you KNOW where everything and everybody is and what exactly is going on at all times. even the support guy knows who is hurt and needs meds by the yellow exes on the hud. also, something else that makes this game good is that you can strife from side to side, and jump in head up situations and it actually makes a difference in who can win a head up battle like in halo, but unlike in cod the man that gets the first shot off generally wins the head up battle. you can't get as fancy with it as you can with halo, but its gets the job done.
7/1/2008 12:51:03 PM
yeah what i didn't like about CoD was that the first team to get a UAV won 90% of the time.
7/1/2008 1:08:46 PM
7/1/2008 1:58:55 PM
7/1/2008 2:01:55 PM
so this is out for the PC too? I played the demo on 360 but I just cant do the controls for games like this on there
7/1/2008 4:47:46 PM
i would def say that they need to give separate reviews for the mp component of a game and as well review the sp component. the mp here is def 9/10 strong. i have not done anything in the sp yet, except the demo, and the demo was 9/10. i can see where the sp might get lower reviews especially in the sp because enemies might make themselves sitting duck, or sometime you just can't tell where you are being shot from. i have seen a few reviews complain about the graininess of the graphics, but i think its honestly an artistic flavor that has been added to create uniqueness. and let be honest here, they did rip stuff right from cod3, cod4, and the strife elements from halo, but the way it is bound together, it creates a rather 'new' mp experience, at least for me. in addition to this, the gold rush mode feels like something new, since when you are an attacker, you heavily rely on not dying so you will not deplete reinforcements, and as a defenders, dying really is not a penalty, but it makes it easier for your base to be destroyed. anyway, everything about the game bundled together makes it feel the most unique of shooters that i have played since playing cod2. i give it 10/10, in terms of actual fun[i]ness[i], and gameplay. sure technical stuff can be belittled, like the rather lackluster destructible environment (this is the frostbite's engine debut i think) but it doesn't take anything away from the game in terms of straight up having fun, in fact it only can be a plus. standing behind a wall and hearing a thudding sound of lead raining down on your position and blowing away your cover can only give to the game. i predict the frostbite engine to produce much better effects in the future. if you don't have it, give it a chance, it worth 60 bucks, and not many games am i willing to pay the full price.[Edited on July 2, 2008 at 8:38 AM. I also haven't played a minute of the single player campaign. I much rather enjoy "live" targets... er, opponents.
7/2/2008 4:04:09 PM
Hey, anybody unlocked the XM8 yet? I'm about to get another unlock, and I'm trying to decide between the XM8, SVU, or UMP. I'm leaning towards the UMP because I've already got an unlock in each of the other classes.
7/2/2008 4:05:22 PM
can't wait to get this game.
7/2/2008 5:07:17 PM
single player is awesome! I started out in multiplayer but now i'm hooked on single player
7/2/2008 6:03:32 PM
been playing it a lot. I have played all the BF games on PC or 360 and this one is fairly similar. I have almost unlocked everything and the M95 sniper is by far the best gun if you have patience, if not the single action shotguns or the UMP are the best. The only thing I miss is the planes and large boats. But the best part of the game is you can blow up everything it gives me so much satisfaction to blow the hell out of a house that has a bunch of campers, it also keeps the gameplay from bogging down at choke points and keeps the maps fresh b/c after 5 minutes of shelling a level can look completely different. the sound is probably the second best part of the game. it is really immersive and makes the game more intense than some other FPS. also the lag has not been as big an issue like in other BF games. i have only had one or two games have serious lag.single player is pretty difficult the AI knows where you are all the time but the story is good for a FPS.9.5/10
7/3/2008 2:32:07 AM
has anyone yet to figure out where to find your uploaded screenshots on the bc website?
7/3/2008 8:49:52 AM
getting this game after work todayBF2 is one of my alltime favorite gamesHow does this game compare to BF2 and how different is playing BF on the PS3 or XBOX 360 than it is on the computer?
7/3/2008 8:52:11 AM
it feels alot more first person than any other BF game did. that being said i also feel more like i'm on a battlefield while playing this game.
7/3/2008 2:13:06 PM
i seriously think bc has dethroned both halo and cod as the 'best' shooter available. its just not going to actually go that far because it doesn't have the mass appeal in terms of popularity and hype that the latter games have.
7/3/2008 2:50:29 PM
i wish this game was a little bit more violent. a little bit of blood and less cartoony deaths.
7/3/2008 2:58:47 PM
