i thought changing coaches we had overcome ncstate but this weekend pretty much sums up what it means to be ncstate.

late in a football game:

1.missed fg
2.blown coverage
3.pick 6

late in a basketball game:

1.stop scoring
2.4 point play
3.flagrant foul where nobody even falls
4.crazy 3 ftl

^^i hope you're not questioning whether that was a flagrant foul or not. it most certainly was.

If you think of the long term scheme, it is good to know what rotations/players work and which ones don't.

both. it was dumb but also thats only a foul if the guy is on a breakaway shooting, or going up for the basket. that same exact foul happens at the end of many games and is almost never called flagrant.

the flagrant call was questionable at best.

IMO, it was a bad call but also a bad foul. You would NEVER see that call go against Duke or UNC though that is for absolute certain.

The thing that pissed me off is that we didn't argue to have another half second added to the clock after the banked in three. We were owed at least that.

Duke would have gotten a fresh shot clock for gods sake.

I was surprised the ref called the tech, because the one who called it was behind the players and couldn't see the way Fell's arm reached around the guy's body from that angle. But from the angle I saw it, it was definately a technical the way Fells made a grab at the guy and reached his arm around the guy's body to strip the ball away. He made a second tug at the guys arm after the initial contact which looked like he was just reaching out of pure frustration. He really had no chance at making a play at the ball so he deserved to be called for the technical. I just hope he uses better sense in the future.

First of all, Sidney Lowe's credibility should not be in question after just 1 loss (even one as dumb as this one). It's only his 2nd season, we have a LOT of new people to playing in his system. Right now, i agree with what was said before, that our team bought into the hype and not each other.

This is my suggestion: Unless there is a fast break, Sidney needs to be calling every damn play for the point guards... right now our PG play is very poor and needs time to develop

Also, I want to see Fells (PG), Costner(PF), McCauley (C), Grant (SG), and Horner(SF) start the next home game... our new guys need to see our veterans play with a little heart. I know this is not our strongest lineup by any means, but these guys were the ones who we called heros late last season - and everyone needs to be reminded why.

We need to take advantage of one of the nations top frontcourts (Not just Hickson). We need to have McCauley, Costner, Hickson out there at the same time once in a while. This will be a towering front court that we can really do a lot with.

Also, shoot the damn 3! we've had next to no outside shooting and consistancy... we cannot be 1 dimentional b/c that's already failed us.

As for Sid trying to play so many people... I think we should red shirt Tracy Smith
Rotation should be:
Starters: Degand, Grant, Fells, Costner, Hickson
Bench: McCauley, Horner, Gonzo, and Johnson (when he's healthy)
Emergency Bench: Smith, Ferg, Harris, Williams, Beard

^ oops... eligable

Also, that lineup being laughed at is the same group who stormed the ACC and NIT tourneys. We saw what they can do when they play together as a team and play inspired basketball. Also, like i said... only to start a game, not the whole damn thing... just to start off with a little fire and passion.

alright... i'm not going to go back and forth with this... i dont really care what you think of my opinion. I'm just saying, if we want to prevent another UNO loss, we're going to have to play smarter and with more passion.

starting fells at the point and horner anywhere would not be a smart coaching decision

I know McCauley had a high shooting % for us last year, but didnt Horner lead the team in 3pt %? could be wrong, and i dont feel like looking it up.

Also, is anyone else thinking we should red-shirt Tracy Smith? It just seems like he's not going to get much playing time this year. I dont want to waste an entire year for this kid like Herb did to Fells his freshman year

They really have to take it to them.
They have to play with their ears pinned back.
They need to turn up the intensity.
They have to step up and make plays.
They have to come out of the locker room fired up.
They're loaded for bear.
They have to go out and take care of business.
They can't let the crowd faze them.
They have to get after it.
They have to rise to the occasion.
They have to stay hungry.
They have to keep the continuity.
They can't look past these guys.
They can't take these guys lightly.
They have to avoid a big letdown.
They have to come together as a team.
They have to believe in themselves.
They have to play within themselves.
They have to play like they're capable of playing.
They have to step up their offensive production.
They have to get the big guy involved in the offense.
They can't be intimidated.
They must control the tempo of the game.
They have to dictate the tempo.
They have to stick to their bread-and-butter offense.
They should stick to the fundamentals.
They have to eliminate the mental mistakes.
They have to dig deep.
They have to suck it up.
They have to crank it up.
They have to turn it up a notch.
They need to step up to the next level.
They must capitalize on their opportunities.
They have to take advantage of their opportunities.
They have to bend but not break.
They have to stretch their defense.
They have to shore up their defense.
They have to pull out all the stops.
They should just go out there and have fun.
They're playing for pride.

You can still redshirt if you play less than 4 or 5 games. Bartoz redshirted last year, and he played in 2 or 3 games

Lol... damnit guys, i didnt say for Horner to start EVERY game, just 1

Costner redshirted after playing 2-3 games 2 yrs ago. Bart redshirted after playing 2-3 games last year. I know he has a Med. RS this year. Does that mean he had 2 Med redshirts? i didnt know that was allowed.. i only thought a player could have 1 regular RS and 1 Med Redshirt as the maximum RS's possible for 1 player... im so confused... what's the actual rule??
