Can you input a check and balances system in place for mods who show favortism and hatred towards users? Ya know, for those moderators who "micro-manage" certain sections. Those mods who stress the importance of capitalizing every begining letter in the thread titles. Shit has gotten ri-fucking dickuluous.Ideal moderator: Theduke, bobbydpower abuser and big kid attention craving whore: everyone pretty much knows who im talking about. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE NEW OWNERSthread authors can block specific users from their post. user tagsmake us un-google-able.file storage for $profiton user page we need an individual user block function, fuck a plugin that doesn't support current firefox!for premium users, chatterbox history is always visible if so desired, plus a scrollbar for up top.thread creators have option to lock created threads.

^User blocking in a forum often creates confusion and potential for abuse, so that's not really a good idea. User blocking with regards to PMs would be okay.

going back to ungoogleable is a very simple code switch.you just block the user-agents for googlebot-image, mediapartners-google, and googlebotmore than likely the robots.txt file is already in place to drop other web walkers, it's just be adding more to the disallow list.presto

i don't want another plugin, specially one that makes me revert to an older version of firefox.
11/4/2007 10:58:55 AM
you don't have to revert. It makes the tww block user plugin compatible with the new versions of firefox.

Omar, you are buds with CrazyJ....are you sure you PMed him or just called him on the phone? Most of the mods hung out with him while he was in college...lol, that might be why it was so fast for you. I wouldnt pm CrazyJ now....he is a regular old poster now(former poster, dont post much now)[Edited on November 4, 2007 at 2:33 PM. Reason : w]

so pm the new owners to request old school access?
11/6/2007 4:04:14 AM
No, pm Maverick about all things Old School
11/6/2007 12:54:39 PM
give the mods a feature so that they can mark a thread as PERMANENT... so they wont be purged if forgotten.having an entire pm convo on one page would be nicescroll bar for chatterboxand for the love of god fix school tool, it helped me out a lot when i first came to state and is the entire reason many people signed up

DO NOT give users control over their threads, either to self-moderate (delete), or to exclude people from their threads. also do not globally support user-blocks. if someone is so thin skinned, make em search out a plugin.because all this cliquey bullshit goes contrary to everything that TWW is about, in my opinion.i mean, if youre gonna do that, you might as well make it so everyone has to "friend" everyone to see their posts. and then we can thrown in huge avatars and sig blocks. yay.

man the new owners sure are doing a bang-up job.such a smooth transition. you wouldn't even know someone new has taken over. i mean, they even never respond to a single fucking thing in feedback forum, just like the old guard! terrific work!
11/7/2007 7:37:37 PM
^ they were the very first ones to respond to this thread

The most important thing:Do not substantially change the look or layout of the Wolfweb. No avatars, sigs, etc. No reorganization. Only the barest of cosmetic modifications. The forums on this site are sleek and easy to read and navigate. There's a reason why I post in these forums and pretty much no others.I also agree that some slight degree of self-moderation might be in order, just to help clear up accidental duplicates and fix typos or confusing aspects of thread titles and whatnot. However, outside of these capacities, I agree emphatically with joe_schmoe:
11/8/2007 1:14:52 AM
can you make URLs in the chatterbox into links?
11/8/2007 10:38:19 AM
autoshorten hyperlinks

Make it so that when someone links to thewolfweb.com people who are logged in to brentroad.com don't have to log in again.

Oh, neat! New owners. Whoever they are - so far only nael has been identified, right?I love the layout and usability of this site - so please don't change it at the core. I'm ok with ads, but it would be nice if they fit the page, meaning no scrolling.I've always wanted an automatic user tag button in the post box. It will fit!! re: new boss, old boss commentsi mean give the guy a break, he just got his hands on a gold mine and is no doubt looking for ways to double up. maximize potential banner spots, maybe some small ones down the right side when you reply. ha hai think he will soon discover that unless he plans on losing his ass (unless he got a great deal), and i give tww 6 more months max. they've already had it for 8 supposedly.however, i think he would find that if he took the time to answer each, or even most questions in here, on a daily (or as close to convenient as possible) that premium memberships would skyrocket. even wolfeee has expressed that she cant get a reply back, and we all know how much of a HUGE asset she is to the academic side of TWW.... i'd hate to see her get jaded and take off like all the other userswhile i'm being "totally outrageous" with my ideas here at 330 am, i should get a 10k yearly stipend to keep posting, just because i am the glue that has held tww together for so long. no proof, that will all be in the aftermath i suppose but seriously folks, it totally makes sense now why jake never answered these anymore. as one of the few old old old twwers that still visits probably daily, id say your chances of keeping this thing afloat are close to 0 if you play tww like it will run itself. every question you answer is a potential 25 dollar source of yearly revenue. feedback forum is where the money's at, dont you playerzzzzzzzzz know your biznasssssss?
11/14/2007 3:30:54 AM
^^ youre just still holding a grudge because i suspended you right before i left to go on a week cruise because you were slandering me anyways. i actually had an email in my inbox from nael that i hadnt checked last night when i wrote that. i was kinda woken up in the middle of the night and had trouble getting back to sleep.anyways, ive spoke with him, and i'm gonna take back the little jabs i made to pick on him not being around.. the advice still stands about listening to everyone, but apparantly thats part of the problem that in his free time he has been busy reading and taking in user advice. which obviously isnt great news to all the instant gratification people... but you must consider that crazyJ was unable to ever put ANY time aside for TWW. so just having a guy that dared open a suggestion box that was busting at the seams... the new guy definitely has my vote. his emails seem like he is all about keeping things the way we like it, but at the same time, willing to implement things we ask for. i say give the guy a chance and a little time to get throguh everything. he cant even start on the feedback stuff until he finishes whats gotta be 18 pages of email by now. once he/they get caught up, its gonna be the tww you always wanted, as far as "not rocking the boat" goes, and youre gonna have an ADMIN that will listen and perhaps institute change, instead of one who cant because his next 18 weekends are lined up at home depot my new 2 cents after talking to nael

^^ well the proof will be in the pudding here. i'm not holding my breath, but maybe i'll be pleasantly surprised.
