Undiscovered country sucked?Hmmm...widely differing tastes.

How can you not like VI? VI was awesome.[Edited on December 31, 2007 at 1:16 PM. Reason : a]

VI is probably my favorite original cast movie. (II is right up there as well of course.)

i got the numbers mixed up. Voyage home is definitely better than undiscovered country. i dont even remember what undiscovered country was about.
12/31/2007 6:38:55 PM
It was about the fall of the Soviet Union.
12/31/2007 7:08:46 PM
I thought the romulans were the soviets
12/31/2007 8:05:53 PM
i think they'd be the romans
12/31/2007 8:50:53 PM
OH GODThey've cast Tyler Perry as the man in charge of Starfleet academy. I'm not even a trekker, but god help us.
1/4/2008 11:02:41 AM
TREK OF PAYNE
1/4/2008 11:12:13 AM
The twin planets of Romulus and Remus.
1/4/2008 11:28:30 AM
god this is going to be the worst star trek movie of all time.a. it's a prequel b. unfortunate casting decisionsc. ridiculous idea of trying to replace the original kirk and crew.
1/4/2008 1:44:46 PM
and yet tens of nerds will flock to see it
1/4/2008 1:47:21 PM
^I wouldn't be surprised if that's all that remains of the fan base.
1/4/2008 3:44:31 PM
1/4/2008 4:04:40 PM
Romulans are N Korea
1/4/2008 5:18:43 PM
Here's how I've always interpreted the various races:-See I've always thought of the Borg to be the Soviet Union as they were the epitome of communism, selfless obedience of collectivism, the collective is greater than the individual-The Federation is the United States and other like-minded countries operating as a loose confederation.-The Ferengi are Switzerland/Wall Street/City of London.-Romulans are clearly the Roman Empire (Romulus, Remus)-Klingons...early 20th-century Germany? (after which they become good and later 20th-century Germany)
1/6/2008 6:47:18 PM
Federation = NATOStarfleet = United States as we see ourselvesKlingons = Soviet Union and now Russia (our "friends"Ferengi = Nigeria...you know it makes sense.Romulans = Not Roman sorry, I would say more Imperialistic Japan. Romulans lived in secrecy for a long while.Cardassians = WWII Germany or Italy
1/6/2008 8:05:22 PM
^correct
1/6/2008 10:17:59 PM
If anything you want to call the Romans anything it'd be the Dominion
1/6/2008 10:43:14 PM
I hope the new movie has Remans in it!!!
1/7/2008 10:38:37 AM
Your Romulan and cardassian comparisons are pretty retarded.I actually don't think there's anything more then the US/USSR analogy. And Romulans were forever ruined by Nemesis.
1/7/2008 11:25:07 AM
You're an idiot if you don't see the Romulans being like the Japanese
1/9/2008 9:35:18 PM
They almost looked asian at one point. Plus, in the original series, the romulans attacked several starfleet bases without warning after a long period of isolation with respect to the Federation (pearl harbor)
1/9/2008 9:54:12 PM
All Good Things (TNGs last episode) was a lot better than some of the movies. Jean-Luc Picard holding his head in his hands seemingly disappointed because he thought he had failed all humanity moved me. that man is a fucking God among star trek men.
1/10/2008 10:48:37 AM
Is this really a three page thread arguing about which Star Trek movie was better? Yikes
1/10/2008 11:40:10 AM
There is no argument about which Star Trek movie was the movie. There are only two acceptable answers to that. We're arguing about the rest of the list.
1/10/2008 12:24:59 PM
^II and VI?

good lord those nacelles look like oversized jet engines or something
1/17/2008 8:06:20 PM
apparently you dont remember what the bussard collectors looked like before...
1/18/2008 10:41:21 AM
I just watched Insurrection the other night on some movie channel. It wasn't that bad actually.Don't know what all the hate is about.Much better then search for the whales.
1/18/2008 11:10:02 AM
so yeah i saw the teaser at cloverfield last night.it was just people working on the ship, and then showed the little badge shape or whatever basically
1/18/2008 11:44:41 AM
1/18/2008 12:38:04 PM
No, I say this is pretty faithful to TOS. The bussard collectors were all lit up and had something rotating inside them
1/18/2008 12:42:42 PM
yes I know. butthese look different... a lot larger... maybe it is just a fucked up angle. I'll take a better look at them on my monitor at home that doesn't suck ass.
1/18/2008 12:58:15 PM
what it looks like to me (my monitor is dim so correct me if i'm wrong) is that the bussard collectors are fitted inside of the rest of the nacelle. in the original enterprise, they were not fitted inside anything... they were the entire front diameter of the nacelles.
1/18/2008 1:00:50 PM
double (ooops)]
1/18/2008 2:05:18 PM
except in the original enterprise they were more or less interior to the outermost expanse of the nacelle.it's even more pronounced in TNGi do agree the effect has been seemingly more exaggerated its also the angle.... you're seeing the inside length of each nacelle (point of perspective)[Edited on January 18, 2008 at 2:08 PM. Reason : s]
1/18/2008 2:06:13 PM
ok. it looks like they are INSIDE of the nacelles from my computer. I am a huge nerd and therefore know what they look like... (i used to have a 6 foot model hanging in my room when i was a kid.)

1/20/2008 10:36:34 AM
1/20/2008 3:15:20 PM
yeah that's what they looked to me at first... here at home I see it for what it is.
1/20/2008 3:46:54 PM
I'm still wondering why they're building it on Earth.
1/20/2008 5:19:23 PM
you know, in the trailer i saw before Cloverfield, it did kindof look like they were building it on earth... is that what it was supposed to be?
