I hope he does...
12/6/2007 10:05:18 AM
he is the 5th highest paid player in baseball now with this new contract. Behind Arod 27.5 mil, Manny 20 mil, Jeter 18.9 mil, and Zambrano 18.3. That Is pretty shitty but they did cover them selves a little bit by only signing him for two years. If i was them i would have saved my money.
12/6/2007 1:11:25 PM
unbelievable he got that much.
12/6/2007 1:12:31 PM
yeah thats more than i expected
12/6/2007 1:18:22 PM
I fully expected him to be a brave next year on a 1 year deal
12/6/2007 1:19:22 PM
I'll miss Andruw, I've been a fan of his since I saw him play for the Bulls(briefly as it was) I'll always keep an eye out for his career and I expect he'll have his "Andruw 2005" type season next year just to prove he is worth the money.
12/6/2007 1:25:30 PM
12/6/2007 2:31:33 PM
Word is Dodgers are looking to make more deals and this signing could mean they are ready to put their name in the hat with some of the bigger names that are on the trade block. Any discussion would probably automatically start with Matt Kemp and he's a little more expandable now that they have Jones.
12/6/2007 3:22:12 PM
I will miss Andruw as well next year but he would not have been worth that money to the Braves. If we can sign Mark Teixeira to a long-term deal it would be much more worth it. He'll hit 10x better than Andruw did in the 4 hole next year. Please get Hampton off the payroll
12/7/2007 1:06:12 PM
Yes, Hampton needs to go fuck himself. I could've done his job for a lot less.
12/7/2007 6:10:55 PM
If Hampton's hamstring heals, he's good to go to start the season right, barring no other problems? That happens, he wins 15 games.
12/7/2007 8:33:10 PM
He'll blow out his shoulder on his first start, season ending injury.
12/8/2007 12:55:24 AM
^^I'll be happy if he makes 15 starts, let alone 15 wins
12/8/2007 12:09:21 PM
he has 12 starts in the last three years -- all of which came in 2005i doubt he pitches 75 innings
12/8/2007 3:12:36 PM
I think Hampton was a "let's see if he does ok in winter ball before we throw him in the rotation." But if he's healthy, there's no reason he couldn't still be a solid guy at the back of the rotation. Oh well, I guess he shouldn't have done those 'roids.
12/8/2007 4:39:25 PM
let's say he IS healthy enough to be a regular... he would STILL have to get the rust off from not throwing in a game for a year and a half. needless to say, my hopes are not high for hampton this season.

willie harris was nontenderedboy was his 15 minutes short
12/13/2007 5:03:12 PM
he hit .200 in his final 71 games. no way i would tender him a contract.
12/13/2007 6:24:39 PM
GO BRAVOS!!!
12/13/2007 7:32:25 PM
im just glad that none of our highest profile players were named. for some reason i was worried that chipper or andruw would be in there somewhere. whats funny is that darren holmes was mentioned and ive met him a few times. next time i see him ill have to ask him about that!

The NL East was pretty much not mentioned at all... In fact I think the only current player in the NL East was Schoeneweiss and that was old news and apparently he took something for his cancer (or maybe it was something else.. can't recall).[Edited on December 14, 2007 at 11:21 AM. Reason : x]

finally got rid of pete orr eh. honestly, he wasn't that bad for a bench utility guy
12/16/2007 11:28:54 PM
yeah he's great if you like a guy who can't hit for average or power, has zero speed, and plays bad defense at three infield spotsseriously though, i think he it .200/.200/.200 last yearl8r pete

Lookes like the Braves are trading Joey Devine to the A's for Mark Kotsay.http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3193556[Edited on January 12, 2008 at 5:59 PM. Reason : .]
1/12/2008 5:57:41 PM
I really fucking hope not.
1/12/2008 7:43:37 PM
i read that yesterday and thought it was a jokei guess all those rumors about bobby having something personal against devine were true
1/12/2008 7:44:57 PM
wow the braves are going to be pretty bad this year if kotsay is going to be an everyday player
1/12/2008 7:45:18 PM
no way he'll be a regular starter, just a glorified utility man
1/12/2008 7:56:31 PM
Well Kotsay isnt all that good, but considering Devine has been complete shit in the majors, I would say the Braves got the best of this deal.
1/13/2008 1:32:54 AM
you're wrongkotsay is trash, he's old, and he'll take up more payroll than devinedevine looked a lot better last year, he probably would have earned a solid spot in the pen this yearkotsay is essentially useless, we just got billy beanedyou're just a devine/state basher and always have been
1/13/2008 1:38:41 AM
Sure, he looked better, but thats not saying much after the past year or two and how bad he looked then. Like I said, Kotsay is nowhere near a badass, but he is far from the train wreck Devine is. Perhaps if he had showed and flashes of brilliance, I could give him the benefit of the doubt....
1/13/2008 2:17:45 AM
1/13/2008 10:28:37 AM
well saidthis deal does not bode well for the frank wren erawe gave up a guy who could have been very useful this season for a guy who could be the next raul mondesi
1/13/2008 1:16:18 PM
Bad trade... gave up a future closer for a bad backed mediocre outfielder who isn't even a great outfielder defensively... Is Wren related to Jim Duquette?[Edited on January 13, 2008 at 1:17 PM. Reason : x]

A Mets fan shouldn't criticize other teams?
1/13/2008 1:20:17 PM
Its cool you are supporting your boy and all, but its not that Devine has just been bad, he has been a total disaster as a #1 pick. Sure, young arms take some time to develop, but he has shown no signs he could handle it in the majors. As a Braves fan, and after what he did to us in the playoffs a few years ago, I am happy to no longer have him as a part of my team. Wh traded shit for shit, no real loss there. I think all non NCSU/Braves fans can see that.I do agree I do not like the way Wren is going so far. There were some really good outfielders available this offseason and he didn't seem to even make a push for any of them.
1/13/2008 1:33:00 PM
1/13/2008 1:35:23 PM
Its not ignorant, and its not trolling. I have the right not to like the guy. He was nothing but a failure so far, and as a Braves fan, I am happy to see him go. Could he bounce back? Sure. But he has shown no reason so far to think he will. I am sure some WSU fans thought the same thing when the Charges got rid of Ryan Leaf. "How can you give up on him, he was a first round pick?" What the Braves got in return for him just shows you what little value Devine has left in the majors.
1/13/2008 1:49:17 PM
Devine pitched well in his few appearances last year. Hate to see him go....especially for a guy like Kotsay
