i saw a stat during one of the games this weekend that said the ACC is the only bcs conference to have a winning record in bowl games for like the past 6 straight seasons...so take that for what its worth.

Vandy and SC both stink.

Georgia Tech lost by two touchdowns.

Less than impressed.

^^^ I'm pretty sure that the ACC was 4-4 last year so that is probably not true. .500 record or better maybe, but not winning.

The wins came against UCLA, Navy, Nevada and Purdue. The losses against Louisville, WVU, Kentucky and Georgia. 2-4 against BCS schools.

The only real upset was Wake losing to Nebraska. Everything else pretty much went like it was supposed to at this point in the season. Duke beating Northwestern had to have been an upset. The only real gauge of conferences was the early battle of VT and LSU which LSU was the better team. As far as seeing top teams from other conferences (Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, and West Virginia) face mediocre teams from the ACC (FSU, GT, Miami, and Maryland). We learn that national title contenders can beat mediocre teams. LSU beating VT is the only way for us to truly see which conferences are better during the season. At this point you can say the SEC is better than the ACC because of one game.

At this point you can say the SEC is better than the ACC by looking at the goddamn games and seeing that the quality of football that the SEC plays is better. They have more talent, they are better-coached, they execute better.

Except in Tennessee's case, they have way more talent and win despite Fulmer.

The VT game isn't over yet. They still have a half to play and just scored a touchdown.

I really don't get how the ACC can be this big of a joke in BCS games. 8 losses in a row isn't a fluke. The best team in the ACC just gets routinely punked by teams that really aren't even top draws. Kansas? They were probably the 4th best team in a very average Big XII; best case they were the 3rd best team.

You can point to the number of NFL players, the names of the coaches, and the OOC records/schedules all day long but until the conference champs start winning games in the BCS NO ONE will respect the conference as a football power. In fact, I honestly think when it was FSU and the eight dwarfs the conference had more Nat'l prestige than it does now...

Record in BCS games over 10 years:

SEC 10-4 (1 to play)
Big Ten 8-8 (1 to play)
Pac-10 8-4
Big Twelve 6-8
Big East 6-4
ACC 1-9
WAC 1-1
Mountain West 1-0
Notre Dame 0-3

Record in National Championship games:

SEC 3-0 (1 to play)
Big Twelve 2-3
ACC 1-2
Big East 1-2
Big Ten 1-1 (1 to play)
Pac-10 1-1

Incase you're wondering:

Miami and Virginia Tech's record in the BCS as a member of the Big East: 3-2
In national title games in the Big East: 1-2

^ Stupid?

If by "stupid" you meant I made an astute observation and everyone belittled it with anecdotes and mind-numbing drivel then yes I guess it was a stupid thread.

But make sure you clarify that you are calling the responses stupid and not the thread originator who had the foresight to identify this pure unadulterated shit-tastic conference from the get-go.

ACC looks like it's pretty good this year. Only losses were a depleted UNC team who showed well against LSU and a Va Tech team that looked like it will be a handful as the defense matures.

Far better than the Big East this year (which is probably the 7th or 8th best conference at best this year -- first time really they've been as bad as people thought they would be after realignment) and likely much better than the Big 10 and Pac 10 as well.

That said, I don't like the matchups this week. I don't see a single one that the ACC will win of the "big" matchups.

ACC has strength at the QB position on most of the teams which will bode well for the conference. No power house team again though and I agree with ^ that the ACC will probably lose all of the "big" games this week.
